1 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2022

Just replace electronic throttle body for second time at 106,185 miles. First time was at 38,460 miles. Both times replaced by Ford dealer at my expense. Recently contacted Ford with no response yet. This is a major safety issue. Truck stalls without any warning. Very dangerous. I have never replaced a throttle body on any other vehicle I have owned in 45 years of driving!!.

1. 11/09/2019 vehicle went into "limp mode" when entering the I-84 freeway from a freeway on-ramp at wood village, oregon. Vehicle lost power, would not exceed 5 mph, dash lights (wrench light) came on. Vehicle partially blocked traffic at intersection of freeway and on ramp causing a dangerous traffic problem for over 1 hour before tow truck arrived. . Vehicle was towed to Ford dealer. Diagnostic codes were not available upon restart at dealer to determine the problem, no repair was made. How can Ford have a "limp mode" which essentially shuts down the vehicle (stutters, stalls, no power) without the ability to diagnose the problem when diagnostic codes automatically reset at next startup? 2. 07/02/20 vehicle went into "limp mode" while driving on busy county road near my home. Using county roads and city streets, vehicle was driven in "limp mode" at low speed (5 mph or less for 7 miles to Ford dealer. Other vehicles were forced to pass in dangerous situations, bike lanes were blocked and intersections were partially blocked because of the slow speed of the vehicle. I was afraid to shut off the vehicle due to the previous incident where that action cleared the diagnostic codes. Vehicle was left running at the Ford dealer and repaired by them by reading the codes and replacing the throttle body. It is ridiculous to have a failure that initiates a "limp mode" condition that places the vehicle in a dangerous situation where the underlying condition cannot be easily diagnosed if vehicle is subsequently restarted. This will, of course happen when the vehicle is being towed or driven to the dealer if the dealer cannot immediately read the codes. I feel that Ford put me in harms way twice due to this faulty "limp mode' system. Further, I have no confidence in the reliability of this vehicle for future use.

3 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2020

The truck completely lost power on a major interstate. The engine kept running, but no power to maneuver putting me and my family's safety in jeopardy. I was lucky it did not stall in a different place, or there could have been a major accident. It turned out to be a bad electronic throttle body. Ford dealer replaced it at a cost of $500.

4 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2019

In early September of 2019, I was driving my 2015 Ford F-150 on a major highway at about 65 mph. Suddenly, the vehicle stalled and lost all power as the dashboard lite up with some kind of traction warning. I drifted to the side of the road and put it in parked. The whole vehicle shook significantly at this point. I turned the vehicle off and waited about 2minutes. I started the truck up and went on my way with no problem. (note: this incident was a serious safety issue as I was on a major roadway in heavy traffic. My 10 and 8 year old grandchildren were in the back seat). A few weeks and a couple hundred miles later, I was on a narrow mountain road going about 45 mph when the exact same thing happened. I took the truck to the Ford dealer after both occurrences, but they could not find anything wrong with it, and said there was nothing they could do. I'm reluctant to drive it as this situation could cause an accident. It only has 42,000 miles on it and I use it to tow my travel trailer. I was not towing the trailer when these incidents occurred. I saw on your web site that several other people have had similar issues with the Ford F-150. Is there anything I can do about this? note that I bought the truck new in 2015 from the same dealer that I took it to for service. Bill vangreen, york, PA.

5 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2019

While driving on a mountain highway (~7000 ft elevation) in colorado, my 2015 Ford f150 suddenly lost speed and vibrated wildly before stalling completely in the middle of the highway. While stopped, the truck continued to vibrate. Various warning lights illuminated (check engine, hill assist not working, check manual, etc. ) and I had to turn off my truck and re-start to pull off the road. The problem happened 3 more times within 2 hrs but this time I was able to track additional metrics (but I moved over to a secondary road with little to no traffic) to relocate to a safe location. The 3 additional stall events were triggered between rpms of 1000 and 2000. As I approached 2000 rpms and/or climbed a slight hill, I could feel the truck begin to loss throttle and if I did not back off on the gas peddle, the truck would stall. I am having my truck towed to a Ford dealership but I am at 36,747 miles and just beyond my warranty. I consider this a very danger system failure for a low mileage vehicle.

Truck stalls due to throttle body actuator sticking. Vehicle becomes disabled/stalled and applies the brakes. Occurs without notice at any speed. Occurs on highway, city streets, and dirt roads. Requires throttle body replacement. Similar recalls did occur for the Ford throttle body for other models and years (e. G. 13n03 program). 13 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2015

New 2015 f150 with a vibration/ shudder coming from what feels like the transfer case or possibly the drive shaft. Happens when trying to shift from gear to gear, and on inclines. . . Feels like it is going to stall. Also happens when just cruising at certain speeds. I've had it to the dealer twice and they say everything is fine but they have felt the same problem with this vehicle and ones on their lot. Vibration could lead to more serious problem and actually stall the vehicle while in traffic.

14 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2015

After morning startup, vehicle stumbled, hesitated on acceleration into traffic. Vehicle stalled after approximately driving 1 mile. Would re-start, only idle, then stall when put into drive and attempted to re-enter traffic. I had towed to closest Ford dealership for warranty repairs. My vehicle was returned over two weeks later. The service invoice outlined that the low pressure fuel pump was found bad, shorted and connecting plug to harness melted. They replaced fuel pump and repaired harness plug. Vehicle was not fixed. Over the two week period the vehicle was at the dealership, the fuel pump driver, body control module, and last the engine control module was replaced to repair the problem. My major concern is the melted fuel pump plug. I would think there would be adequate fusible link protection to keep this kind of problem from happening especially when affecting an in tank fuel pump. This might lead to fuel fires and also accidents due to loss of power from the engine. I was fortunate to be able to safely get my vehicle on the road shoulder, and then onto a side street with minimal traffic. Another issue is that one device failure creating failures in multiple vehicle control systems that would cost the consumer thousands of dollars out of warranty to repair. I was told that a Ford field engineer was sent to assist the dealership, after his visit, the ecm was replaced which made the vehicle functional again. Adequate overcurrent protection on the fuel pump should have prevented damaging the other critical parts. Ford has put a lot of these vehicles on the road with the fuel efficiency new engineering as a major marketing tool. I fear the vehicle may have been rushed to production with inherent flaws that could be a danger to owners and the public.
