1 Electrical System problem of the 2024 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/25/2026

Soy-based wire insulation has caused engine damage to vehicle. Rodents have damaged the vehicle wiring due to soy-based wires installed during manufacturing. I have to pay expensive repairs due to mice chewing on soy-based wires installation. The vehicle engine is smoking this will be a reoccurring problem. New wires need to be installed that does not attract rodents.

2 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/18/2026

I was on spencer street at the light about to cross on saint rose park way. When the light turned green my truck wouldn’t let me proceed and the it went into a low gear and make a lot of noise until I crossed and stoped at the horizon ridge light. At the light I turned off the truck like I have done every time this had happened after Ford said they did the recall but after they did the recall I’ve been having all these issues. I turned the vehicle back on and put into into drive and it went into reverse I immediately pressed my brakes knowing there is a car behind me. Thankfully the guy saw the truck with the hazards and going into reverse he immediately went into the next lane. I couldn’t move I was stalled. Had the shut the truck off again and then turn it back on and then I was able to go into drive and sit on the side of the road. Meanwhile I can smell like this burning smell. Now this had happened 2 days after they came out to supposedly fix the recall that was on the truck. I didn’t work the next day after they came out to fit it at my job but driving home that day it drove sort of ok I felt a little lack of going into gear. When I went to work it did a hard jerk while driving like if the transmission was going to fall out. I parked at work for my 10 hour shift and when I went to go home I turned on my truck and out it into drive and it went into reverse. Thankfully I was in park and no cars was behind me. I called Ford to tell them what had happened after they came and fix it and they told me it was not part of the recall. But yet when I looked up the recall when my insurance let me know if it people was saying they was having issues going into gears and possibly stalling. This is a serious matter and they keep brushing it off and telling me that I need to pay them to look at it. I don’t feel I need to pay if it is their mistake. I took it to my warranty company and they tried to fix it and found nothing on their end. At this point I gor into almost 5accident.

3 Electrical System problem of the 2025 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/15/2026

While traveling on vacation April 15, my 2025 f150 truck suffered a total loss of forward momentum on the highway and in city of los angeles —a severe safety failure. The repairing Ford dealership, diagnosed a factory-born "open" in the main wiring harness (#14a005) behind the dash (dtcs p2128/p2138). To rectify this assembly-line defect, the dealership had to completely remove the dashboard (instrument panel). As an experienced truck owner, I know that an invasive repair of this magnitude on a brand-new vehicle significantly increases the risk of long-term electrical issues and permanent dashboard rattles. My confidence in this specific vehicle has been severely compromised.

5 Electrical System problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/08/2026

Truck downshifted to first gear from about 35 mph with no warning, and would not shift back, until it was shut off. I was in middle of road. No warning lights came on prior to this happening. The dealer confirmed a recall for this problem but my truck is a 2013 and recall currently is for 2014 forward. I never received a recall notice on my truck and the estimate to have it fixed is about $1700. Dealer said recall on my truck expired, in 2023. I am not safe driving this vehicle. I have had this truck since October of 2018, and bought it at toothman Ford grafton, wv. I never received a recall.

6 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/05/2026

2024 Ford F-150 lightning complete instrument cluster blackout while driving. Screen goes entirely black intermittently, lasting up to 30 minutes. Occurs while vehicle is in motion. Issue persists even after stopping and restarting vehicle. Loss of speedometer, battery state of charge, warning lights, and all driver information. This creates unsafe driving conditions with no way to monitor speed or critical vehicle systems.

7 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/02/2026

Saturday 4/4 I took the truck to get a tire repaired. It would not initially start. 5 minutes later it finally did. Then a few blocks away the trucks internal lights started flashing and it jumped from drive into a lower gear. I thought my drive quit working. I pulled over and had reverse and low so I attempted to put in drive, still wouldn't go. After about 5 minutes I was able to get the truck back into drive and get it home where it sits today. I just bought it 1 1/2 months ago. It happened to my son also on Thursday 4/2 but I just found out about it. He was going highway speeds when lights started flashing and truck jerked from drive into a lower gear. This should be a recall. This is very dangerous. I want to know what you are going to do about it? I just paid $22,000 for this truck. I shouldn't have to deal with this. My son looked it up and says it is p0707 lead frame failure or output shaft speed sensor. Whatever the case, it would be nice to know what can be done about it other than switching to manual dirive.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The failure mileage was unavailable.

10 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/01/2026

Was slowing down to turn, engine cut out and received an “auto start/stop, shift to p and then restart engine” error on dash. Almost got in an accident because of it.

11 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/31/2026

I own a 2023 Ford F-150 lightning, with 48,200 miles and 2. 5 years of ownership. Recently, my truck began displaying a “powertrain / reduced power” warning while driving, and the air conditioning stopped producing cold air. The dealer scanned the vehicle and found dtc p0534 – a/c system charge loss. Further diagnostics indicated that multiple vehicle modules may require reprogramming and software updates. The dealer stated they need to evacuate and recharge the ac system, add dye, and remove front trunk components to locate the leak. This ac system is part of the high-voltage battery and edrive thermal management system, meaning that failure of the hvac system affects battery cooling and powertrain performance. Loss of cabin cooling is a symptom of a thermal system malfunction, which can lead to battery overheating, powertrain derating, and reduced driving performance. The combination of unexpected reduced power and loss of cabin cooling creates a safety risk, particularly during highway driving, merging, or situations requiring acceleration. These failures occurred at relatively low mileage and are associated with the high-voltage ev system, which should be functioning properly to ensure safe vehicle operation. I am submitting this complaint to report a potential safety defect with the 2023 Ford F-150 lightning affecting the battery thermal management, high-voltage ac system, and edrive components, which can result in sudden power loss and compromised vehicle safety.

12 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/31/2026

I started my truck this morning and turned on the heat and defrost. Came inside to gather my things for work and when I returned back there was a strong burning smell both inside and outside. I placed my work items in the back seat, closed the door. I heard something falling and found the back windshiled windshield had exploded.

13 Electrical System problem of the 2024 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/30/2026

Our 2025 Ford F-150 experienced a complete instrument cluster failure immediately following a manufacturer-initiated over-the-air software update. Component/system failure: the instrument cluster/display failed completely. The speedometer, fuel gauge, warning lights, and all critical driving information are inoperable. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: this creates a serious safety hazard because the driver cannot monitor speed, fuel level, or warning indicators, increasing the risk of unsafe operation. Event details: after the update installed overnight, the dashboard display was nonfunctional upon startup. The vehicle was operating normally prior to the update, and the failure occurred immediately afterward with no other issues. Inspection/confirmation: the vehicle was taken to southwest Ford dealership, where the issue was confirmed. We were told it is an electrical problem requiring repair. The dealership also stated another vehicle there had the same issue following an update. Manufacturer response: the vehicle has approximately 46,000 miles and is out of warranty. We were quoted about $1,500 for repair. We opened a case with Ford motor company (case #cch-07666598-q6y1r3), but coverage was denied. Prior warnings: there were no warning lights, messages, or symptoms prior to the failure. We believe this may indicate a defect in the software update system that could affect other vehicles and pose a broader safety risk. We request investigation and appropriate action.

14 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/28/2026

Vista roof not operating as intended.

15 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/27/2026

After a crash into a tree on the passenger side the airbags deployed and the truck immediately caught fire and the doors locked and would not open for any reason. The only way I was able to exit was busting through the front windshield. Had I been severely injured or knocked unconscious the outcome of this would have been much different. The truck burned to the ground in 11 minutes. It has been inspected by the police and awaiting insurance representative to inspect. There were no warning no recalls regarding a crash that would lock the doors and not allow me to exit.

21 Electrical System problem of the 2024 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/25/2026

The digital dash cluster will randomly blank out while driving. After it sits for aboutba few hrs parked, it will turn back on just to repeat it down the road again. I tried bring it up with the dealership a few times and I was told they aren't able to replicate the issue and it's within factory spec. This is extremely dangerous since this creates issues of not knowing how fast the vehicle is going, and no indicators of what the truck is doing.

22 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Ford F-150

24 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/18/2026

Today I was driving my truck at 55mph on a local highway and all of the sudden I felt/heard/experienced a massive clunk out of nowhere - almost like the truck tried to downshift into 1st or something similarly jarring. It only lasted a second, and then I got a dash light on that said service advancetrac. Based on the service codes I'm seeing (two of them that are both uo100 codes which indicate loss of communication), I did some research and found out about the oss sensor issue and think that's what is going on with my truck too. Unfortunately I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to get a Ford dealership to do anything about it since there isn't an official recall, and I'm afraid to keep driving it as this is likely going to keep happening - but fixing it myself is going to be expensive I think. It is available for inspection upon request. I felt that my safety was and continues to be at risk - downshifting into 1st gear, or whatever that was, while driving high speeds is dangerous and could potentially significantly damage my vehicle and myself. I have not taken it anywhere yet to be reproduced or confirmed - just plugged my scanner in and did a bit of research. No one has inspected it.

26 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/17/2026

On three occasions when I have started the truck, there is a deafening sound from the speaker system that sounds like a pop with glass shattering. Then it had a loud static sound that can't be silenced and the volume button does nothing. After turning the truck off for 5-10 minutes the problem resolves, though it does continue for several minutes after turning the truck off.

27 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/16/2026

I’m reporting a serious transmission issue with my 2016 F-150. While driving, the 'wrench' light suddenly pops up on my dash and the truck starts shifting erratically. Sometimes it feels like it’s searching for a gear or jerking unexpectedly. I had the codes scanned and found p0706, p0707, and p1921. These are all related to the transmission range sensor (trs) signal. I know the NHTSA is currently investigating this exact failure under ea26001 because it causes the truck to lose track of what gear it’s in. Even though my tires haven't locked up yet, the erratic shifting is making the truck unpredictable and dangerous to drive in traffic. It’s clearly the same lead frame defect that is being investigated for a recall.

28 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/16/2026

I am writing to formally document a recurring and dangerous safety defect involving the b&o audio system. On multiple occasions, the vehicle has emitted an ear-shattering popping noise followed by high-decibel electrical static. This issue is not merely a "speaker glitch"; it is a violent acoustic event that persists even after the ignition is turned off. Critical safety concerns: driver incapacitation: the volume is loud enough to cause immediate disorientation and potential hearing damage. If this occurs at highway speeds, the risk of a collision is extreme due to the "startle response" and inability to hear sirens or road cues. Electrical instability: the static is accompanied by a sensation of electrical discharge throughout the cabin. To stop the noise, I am forced to manually disconnect the battery—which itself emits static popping during the process. Repeated component failure: the vehicle has already exhausted two batteries and requires a third. I suspect a faulty amplifier is creating a parasitic draw and low-voltage condition, triggering this catastrophic system failure. Lack of professional response: despite ssm 51663 addressing this exact issue, dealerships have refused to perform the software/hardware fix due to the "sporadic" nature of the problem. Furthermore, when I contacted Ford customer service, my concerns regarding a potential crash were met with derision. I am requesting an immediate escalation, a formal inspection of the b&o amplifier, and the application of the relevant TSB/ssm software updates. I no longer feel safe operating this vehicle, and I am documenting this for the purpose of a lemon law evaluation and an NHTSA safety report.

29 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/15/2026

The 12v battery on these vehicles are severely strained or defective agm batteries have been used since vehicle inception in 2022. Dozens of reports from owners show "system off to save battery" error codes and 12v symptoms such as inoperable multi-function displays, especially in cold weather. After replacing the oem 12v battery, I have pictures showing the bulging the battery has suffered. Again, these errors are experienced by dozens, if not hundreds of owners and could lead to serious injury because the 12v battery operates all electronics in the vehicle.

30 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/15/2026

Vehicle information 2021 Ford F-150 powerboost VIN: [xxx] complaint description while driving approximately 70 mph on a highway, my 2021 Ford F-150 powerboost suddenly displayed a “stop safely now” message and immediately lost propulsion. The engine shut down without warning while I was in active traffic. After the shutdown, the vehicle automatically shifted into park and would not allow me to shift into neutral. This left me unable to move the vehicle out of a live traffic lane. I was forced to shut the vehicle off while still in a dangerous roadway position. This incident created a serious safety hazard, as I was traveling at highway speed and could have been rear-ended due to the sudden loss of power and inability to move the vehicle. This issue appears to match Ford technical service bulletin (TSB) 23-2317, which describes “stop safely now” warnings, no-start conditions, and gateway module (gwm) software faults. This indicates a known defect that can cause sudden loss of propulsion. A claim has already been opened with Ford motor company under case number [xxx], and the vehicle is currently at a Ford dealership for diagnosis. At this time, the issue has not been resolved. This failure occurred without warning and presents a significant risk to driver safety and others on the road. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
