8 Fuses And Circuit Breaker problem of the 2002 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/18/2008

My vehicle has a water leak that is getting the gem module wet and this has resulted in the wipers failing, the power windows to fail, the heater fan stays on after the key is removed from the ignition, and the engine runs very rough and stalls resulting in me losing the power steering and putting the vehicle in a ditch, the wipers stopped working during a recent heavy rain and I had to pull onto the side of the interstate for over 30 minutes. Ford customer service claims they never heard of the problem but I found out they issued a technical service bulletin 98-9-13 to the dealers about this and also Ford special message #15773 for this problem. The dealer wants over $1,100. 00 to fix . This problem is in 1997-2002 Ford f150 and expeditions. I feel that the loss of wipers and sudden loss of power steering and power brakes is a bigger safety hazard than the current recall on the cruise control.

9 Fuses And Circuit Breaker problem of the 2002 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 09/27/2007

Ford motor company does not install the fuse necessary to operate the towing harness lamps on the 2002 f150. Local Ford dealer installed a fuse and then discovered that the pin beneath the fuse box was bent. The fuse box had to be removed in order to straighten out the pin and then re-installed. Ford refused to cover the cost ($200. 00) saying the vehicle was out of warranty. Contention is that this either came from the factory this way or the dealer bent the pin when they installed the fuse. Neither Ford motor company or the local Ford dealer will accept responsibility. The bent pin made the parking lamps inoperable which would be hazardous for towing anything at night.

12 Fuses And Circuit Breaker problem of the 2001 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/03/2006

1 month ago my 2001 f150 would not crank. I checked the fuse and the #6 fuse (5 amp) had blown. I replaced it with a new 5 amp fuse and it blew again. I called our roadside assistance and asked that the truck be towed as we wanted to know why it was blowing the fuse each time we replaced it. The repair shop had the truck for 2 days and could not duplicate the problem about 10 days later it blew a fuse again. This time it was the #15 fuse(still a 5 amp fuse) and this time the truck would crank but would not go out of park. Called a tow truck again and had it taken to a different repair shop that night. I spoke with the repair shop owner on sat July 1 and told him it was a secondary vehicle and as this was a holiday weekend not to rush. Just when they opened back up after the holiday if he could get it fixed then. On the morning of July 4th 2006 we were called around 10:30 am by the repair shop owner, who was also a tenant in this building, that our truck had caught on fire during the night and was a total loss. He asked that we come right over. We called our insurance on the way as we luckily still had full coverage even though our truck was paid for. The auto repair shop had all the bay doors cut open by the fire department during the night(July 3rd) and there were several other cars in the building that were damaged also. At least one of which was a total loss also. The building had water and smoke damage even in its restroom. The repair shop has not been able to open all week and who knows how large his deductible, etc is. I have since found out my Ford 2003 excursion has a fire recall on it. I am terrified to have my children in it or have it near my home or someone else's as I don't want to be responsible if it happens again. I have also found out that in my neighborhood of 26 houses. The man 4 doors down had his f150 burn down in his driveway during the night. It happened the month prior to us moving here.

16 Fuses And Circuit Breaker problem of the 1998 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/10/2005

At some point the cruise control on my 1998 Ford f150 pick-up stopped working. As I seldom use it I'm not sure how long it was out. Next the #13 fuse failed. The replacement fuse failed immediately. With this fault I was unable to get the truck out of park if started in park. The abs light was flashing and the brake lights did not work. Took truck to earnhardt's Ford dealer for repairs. They traced problem to shorted brake pressure safety switch and speed control servo. Due to the defective brake switch the wiring harness was saturated with brake fluid. All three defective parts were replaced. These repairs cost $3,100 dollars. The mechanic (ken tueffel) stated I was very fortunate the truck did not catch fire. With the recent news reports on the Ford pick-up cruise control brake pressure switch causing fires I believe Ford motor company has known about the safety hazard of these switches for years and owe me a refund on these repairs.
