Purchased f150 in June 1998. 8/98 had minior electrical problem - fan would not shut off when key turned off. In 9/98 lost speedometer, tachometer, could hear relays clicking. 10/98 replaced main fuse box due to arching between ternminals. 1/99 lost speedometer/tachometer/4 wheel drive switch, could hear relays in dash again. 1/99 replaced main switch box again due to arching between ternminals. 3/99 ocassional problem with windshield washer switch. They had no idea what caused the problem, if it was resolved, etc, but indicated the normal supply channel was out of the part.

Vehicle caught on fire due to backup lights staying on. Bulbs would lean onto plastic and plastic would catch on fire. Dealer contacted.

Fuse for running light circuit failed.
When motor got warm while driving down a hill vehicle would shutdown. A few minutes later, would turn back on by itself. This process would repeat itself at least 12 times a day. Have taken to dealership numerous times, but mechanic indicated that it was a fuse box problem.

A light was coming from air conditioner vent. Pulled over and noticed fire under hood. Tried to put fire out, but fire was out of control, and burned vehicle to the ground. Insurance company was called. Technician stated fuse needed to be replaced. Please provide further information. Ak.

Fuse connected to the brake lights blew out three times. Dealer could not determine the cause. It was later determined that circuit #13 controlled the stop lamp, turn signals, hazards lights and speed control module. The consumer believes this is a dangerous combination.

There is a malfunction in wiring harness in steering column, when the tilt is used. This malfunction causes brake lights and turn signals not to work. Dealer has seen vehicle 6 times, and was not able to fix it. The dealer fixed only the harness but it failed again. The brake light and turn signal are still inoperable.
The engine rattled on a cold start, which was commonly called a slapped piston, a ground wire was replaced under the hood, and a fuse was replaced for the cigarette lighter.
