The contact owns a 2002 Ford F-150 crew cab. While driving approximately 3 to 5 mph the spare tire fell from underneath the bed of the vehicle. The contact could see from the rear view mirror that the bracket that holds the spare tire in place had broken. The dealer informed the contact that the spare tire bracket was not a part of the warranty and he would be responsible for the repair cost. The contact is concerned that the safety risk could have caused a crash. The failure mileage was 160,000.

The contact owns a 2009 Ford f150. While driving between 40 to 50 mph the vehicle began to vibrate excessively. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure during a test drive; however, they stated that the failure could be related to the frame assembly. The zone manager and the field engineer from Ford also test drove the vehicle and were unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated that the vibration occurred after purchasing the vehicle at 300 miles. The failure mileage was 300 and the current mileage was 8,600.
I was driving my truck and the power steering felt like it was going out when I placed my truck in 4 wheel drive to drive up my driveway. I immediately called a Ford service department the next morning to have them diagnose the problem. Apparently, the front differential bracket broke away from the frame of the truck and was pushing up into the steering shaft knuckle prohibiting smooth turning. The 3 asc certified mechanics that looked at this advised it was a manufacturer defect because the bracket which should have had approximately an 8 inch weld only had 2 one inch spot welds holding it in place. Until the problem was repaired, I could not use the 4 wheel drive. I was advised by all 3 mechanics that using the 4 wheel drive until repaired could result in a potentially dangerous accident. Ford is aware of this manufacturer defect because they have a repair kit for this problem which is $600. 00. They will not say what the amount of labor is until the repair kit is purchased. I took the vehicle to a local shop who said they could fix it for less than what a Ford service shop would charge. The asc master certified mechanic repaired the problem by simply welding the existing bracket the way it should have been welded by the manufacturer. I contacted Ford motor company and they would not take any responsibility for this potentially dangerous problem.

Was sitting idle in a parking lot when suddenly I heard a loud pop. When I started to roll my window down on my 2005 Ford f150 super cab, the window dropped down and sounded like broken glass. After removing the panel I saw the cable messed up. Then after googling to find an answer, I discovered that this is the exact problem that dozens, perhaps hundreds of others are experiencing with the power window regulator. The plastic clip breaks and the cable gets messed up. Ford is making a killing off owners by using cheap, breakable parts. This should be recalled! I have no money to replace this regulator right now, so I am at the mercy of the gods in hope that someone doesn't steal my truck, or it doesn't rain, since with this part broken the window will not stay up. Please push this through for a recall!.

Broken fuel tank strap. Looked at my truck fuel tank hanging low. Looked underside front fuel tank strap gone. I had about 20 gallons in tank, or 3/4 full. I was about to head to familys house 25 miles away when noticed,. This was on a Saturday morning. Went to Ford dealer, they had both straps in stock. Replaced both straps. Took about 30 minutes to replace.

The factory paint already has to be repainted the whole paint job is cracked all over the truck so bad that it will have to be sanded to the metal and cost over 4000 to repaint.
I own a 1996 Ford f150 4x4. The truck has not been used for any type of commercial duties that I'm aware of and the vehicle shows no signs of abuse. I had purchased the vehicle in 2004 in very good condition. Recently I noticed the left rear corner of the bed had dropped approximately 3/4" which has increased to over an inch. Further examination revealed that the rear spring support bracket had rotted through. The spring is presently supported by the truck bed. I have inspected the remaining rear spring supports and they are all in need of replacement. Apparently the materials Ford is using to manufacture these components is not up to the task and the coating used to protect these supports only masks the problem until it's to late correct the problem. I've owned a number of Ford trucks in the past with considerably more years on them than this vehicle and I've never had to replace the spring supports or any structural component. This vehicle has only ten years of service and structural parts such as these should not be rotting away. I own three other Ford truck products and they are all showing signs considerable deterioration (heavy rust) on chassis components coating process Ford it using ( looks like powder coating) to protect the components is actually masking the problem until it's to late. I'm hoping that I can purchase replacement parts to correct this problem, otherwise I will be forced to procure a used set from a auto recycler. These supports provide attachment point for the rear suspension as well as maintain the rear axles alignment within the vehicle. These items should be able to provide a service life greater than ten years. There is a considerable safety issue in the fact that the average driver may not realize there is a problem until it's to late and the driver looses control of the vehicle.

While driving there was a severe shake in the entire vehicle that caused the transmission to come loose. This occurred because the rear right frame broke above the tire. Dealership indicated the was a common problem with these trucks.
Purchased '04 F-150 in October or '03. At speeds, the vibration was so bad that my hands shook on the wheel, and I could see the hood moving. Two trips to the dealer to change tires and balance, etc. Did nothing, then a particular mechanic got on it and found out about the damper fix. He installed it and there is great
improvement. I am amazed that the truck continues to be sold with no effort to correct the vibration problems, particularly when the advertising continues to say that it is such a remarkable vehicle. I also had a sidewall blow out and it was tough to find replacement general tire in the correct size. My complaint isn't the dealer, its the designers. I'll be interested to see if changes are made in the 2005.

My 2000 F-150 front cross member that supports radiator and the cab has rusted out. My truck has 48,000 miles. My Ford dealer has agreed to replaced front cross member free of charge. Est $1,600.
Frame sheared at rear of correctlly and professionally installed class 3 hitch. The frame also bent between the front and rear leaf spring connections. The frame at the left leaf spring connection is cracked. There was no over loading of the tongue nor significant impact to shock load the frame. Ford is claiming that it is not their problem because it is out of warranty. All involved parties have never seen any thing like this before. They site that the after market hitch "could be to blame" although they did not say that the hitch was improperly installed. A 4 year old 70,000 mile truck should not fail towing a trailer that is less than half of the towing capacity for its rating, regardless of warranty expiration. No one was injured because it was discovered before total failure occurred. This could have caused a jack knife and/ or rollover of the truck and trailer. The towing capacity of the truck is 6600 lbs and the tongue weight max is 500 lb. Our trailer is a 10 foot 2 horse trailer weighing 2900 lbs empty and tongue weight of 250 loaded.
The truck has a stress fracture in the steel next to the windows. Nlm.
Found tag attached to frame "defective material do not use! l/s bad performance.
Lower arm where it is attached to truck frame became loose. While driving it makes alignment changes. Driver thinks he is going straight, but is going back and forth. The manufacturer suggested lock washers as a temporary fix, but the a- arm has now moved again changing the wheel alignment.

There is a crack in the frame from the axle bumper hole and it goes halfway up the frame. Nlm.
Vehicle had a crack above axle through the frame. Dealer/manufacturer notified. Please provide any further details.
I have contacted the local Ford dealer to look into this. Ford is being very slow to fix this major issue. It effects 2/3s of all the 97+ f150s. No safety defect listed in summary.
Each time when making a turn it sounds like a popping noise coming from the frame that is falling apart.
Driver side door has developed a crack in the frame.
Crack is visible very clearly on drivers side. The crack is just appearing on the passenger side. Dont really know when the cracks appeared, heard about the problem and just went to see if it was on my veh.
Rear of left side frame cracked piece fell off @ t/hitch mount.
Vehicle's frame failed causing alignment problems and noise. Mjs.
Vehicle vibrates tremedously, shakes, when sitting still mostly, and dealership/mfr. Has no remedy. New brakes and shocks were put on trying.
Frame failed.
While driving 65 mph, the cardboard part that dampens the sound (road noise) from coming into the cab, fell down on top of the muffler and vechicle caught on fire, consumer stopped and put the fire out. Dealer will investigate the problem.
While driving on a dirt road at 35 mph, the left rear tire blew out. In addition, rear frame was bent because three dealers had modified truck by putting on overloads. Also, rear springs/shocks were defective/leaking.
What I concern about the cracks on the doors of the f150 I have seen about 20 trucks with cracks of 23 that have check . My truck is out of warranty but I think Ford should recall all trucks .
Cracked chassis. (attorney for client).
Is pe99019 related to spare tire wear due to mounting against the chassis (causing damage to the spare)? if so, this complaint extends that complaint to cover model year 1999 as well.
Loud cracking or creaking sound wheneveer making a turn at any speed - started about 2 years ago very minor but now creaks quite alot - a TSB appplies but Ford will not pay any money toward the repair despite the fact that this seems to be a common problem according to the shop manager at the dealership don izzet - the TSB states that rivets on the frame come loose and must be replaced with bolts - I think Ford should pay for the repairs as it is a defect in the manufacturer.
