Passenger seat belt had stuck in the partially retracted position. It won't come out and it won't go back. It had given some problems before, but I think they were related to pulling it out too far and the child adjustment feature kept tightening the belt. I have not been able to get it to come loose, nor have I had the time to go to the dealer.

: the contact stated while applying the brakes in emergency situations, the front seat belts do not lock. The seat belts retracted, but do not hold the passengers in the seat. The seat belts leave enough webbing to where the passengers could impact the dashboard. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer for inspection. The dealer replaced the seat belts with new ones; however the new seat belts have the same problem.

Everytime I hit the brakes, the passenger seat belt never holds. Person in the seat always has to be ready when I brake, either hard or soft. Seat belt not doing its work, not locking, not holding. Happens countless times. Took in to the dealer, they say nothings wrong, but if I really have to hit brakes one day, someone's going to get hurt.
The contact stated the front seat belts did not lock during heavy braking. He tested the vehicle at 30, 50, and 70 mph by slamming on the brakes hard enough for the tires to squeal. The seat belts never locked . This caused one injury to the passenger. She slammed into the dashboard and injured her wrist and back. The vehicle was taken to the dealership, and they stated the seat belts were acting as intended. Updated 01/19/06.
Front passenger side safety belt latch does releases at any given time. It always latches with no problems and appears secure, yet will come undone while driving. This latch releases with ease while driving at anytime. This has become more prevalent now that my kids are old enough to be in the front seat. When testing its security after initially latching, it will come unlatched when tugging on the strap hard. This latch has already been checked for foreign objects and none were found. The Ford dealership continues not to check for defect without charge and am very upset about that. They state that my VIN number is not included in this recall, but definitely has the same problems as the others. I am very concerned with the safety now that my kids are able to ride in the front passenger seat. Since ownership, there have been events every time a passenger sat up front. There have been no deaths, injuries, fires, damage as yet.

Was driving to work wearing seat belt and heard a click or pop from the seat belt near the shoulder of where the belt came out. Consumer thought it sounded mechanical in nature. Pulled at seat belt, there was no locking. After taking off seat belt, the seat belt did not retract. No repairs. Called 2 dealers, and they were of no help, but suggested to bring the vehicle to shop after the weekend for repairs. Had not contacted Ford customer service at this time but consumer planned to do so.
1997 Ford f 150 pick up, 4x4 extended cab driver's seat nylon fabric is worn and frayed. I called local Ford dealership and they said this was my responsibility to replace. I have never seen a seat belt get frayed and worn out in such a manner. I have 18 years as a fire fighter and have cut dozens of people out out cars and never come across a worn out seat belt before. If this belt fails in a crash it could lead to serious injury or death. I will get it replaced but I thinks this is a manufacture defect not operator's responsibilty.
Front passengers side outboard seat belt will not fully latch. Rq04011.
The passenger seat belt does not work right.
While driving 25 mph, in inclement weather the vehicle skidded. The driver lost control of the vehicle and hitting a ditch, lost control and was overturned. Both frontal air bags deployed. However, the passenger seat belt failed to restrain consumer. This caused the passenger to eject out of the passenger door window tied the seat belt around the passenger's right arm and attaching her to the truck. Two passengers and the driver sustained major injuries and were transported to the hospital. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection. The cause has not been determined at this time.

Driver fell asleep while driving 60 mph, vehicle crossed one lane, bumper got caught on embankment, and vehicle rolled over . Seat belt did not restrain driver, his head shattered the passenger window. Driver sustained head injuries, and vehicle was totaled.
Consumer was rear ended, and the front seat belts failed to restrain the driver and passenger. The driver hit her head on the steering wheel, and the passenger hit his head on the dash. Amount of damage unknown.
Has been into the dealership on numerous occassions, since December 2002. A new seat belt was ordered "twice". The second one ordered was due to the technician not being comfortable with it. January 20, 2003 while driving at 65 mph, had to come to a panic stop, seat belt on driver's side did not lock. A Ford motor CO. Engineer now states that the seat belt is working as designed. If a seat belt does not lock during a panic stop from such a high rate of speed, why do we have seat belts? on January 31, 03 coming home from the engineer inspection, we were not comfortable with the inspection. All we were told is that the seat belt is performing as designed. We, at 45 mph, depressed the brakes as like we were doing a panic stop, neither driver's side nor passenger side seat belt locked. Will still test the issue. Some times the belt will lock, sometimes not. We are concerned and feel we have had information regarding the seat belts and our safety concealled from us. Very hard to work with the dealership.
Seat belts do not retract quickly and completely when released, a weak retraction spring and the upper plastic locater yoke and the cloth seat exert too much friction. Both seat belts were replaced, however failed after one use, driver side was replaced again and failed, there is a recall, 00v348, however this is for 2001 models.
