My Ford F-150 supercrew 4-door pickup truck does not have head restraints in the rear 60/40 split bench seat. This is a safety concern as rear seat passengers will hit their heads on the rear glass in a crash. New trucks of this model are now redesigned and have rear head restraints. Models manufactured earlier do not. Ford also redesigned the front seats to now include head restraints instead of the old design of taller integrated head restraints. I believe this is also a safety concern in that I cannot adjust the front seat head restraint to properly protect me in a crash. If this is not a safety concern, why has Ford made the change in the middle of a model year? why are they keeping quite about it? I very concerned since the reason I bought the truck was I needed a way to carry friends, family, and business associates as well as cargo. Now I have to worry that in a front or rear impact collision passengers in the back seat would most likely put their heads through the rear window.
I have a concern regarding the lack of rear passenger head restraint. In the event of a collision there are no provisions to prevent the rear passenger's head from impacting the rear glass. The manufacturer knows this is a problem as evidence in a mid year change to include head restraints for the rear passengers.
Back seat does not have head rests to keep passenger head from impacting rear window and body during rear end collision.
My previous crew cab Ford pick up, a 1996 model, has rear seat head restraints. After purchasing this new Ford crew cab pick up, an 2001 model, I noticed no head restraints for rear passengers and am very concerned a family member or friend head will smash rear glass in an accident. Please help as I know the rear window is inches from rear passengers heads and if I am rear ended the rear passengers heads will be smashed into the rear window. Why has Ford not supplied rear head restraints on this truck when they did on the other? please help!.
Rear seats in the suprecrew model purchased do not have headrests. As a result any minor involvement in an accident with people in the rear seats will result in injury to passengers in those seats. Same model year trucks produced recently after mine was purchased have the headrests installed.
No rear seat headrest, rear passengers heads hit rear window.
The rear seat in my 40/60 split seat have no head restraint. A rear end crash would let the rear passengers head hit the rear window. For now puts a seat with head restraints in the new vehicles. They should recall the older 2001 supercrews and put in the new seats.
I recently purchased this vehicle and I am very concerned that rear passengers have no protection to prevent their heads from hitting the rear window of the truck in the event of a sudden stop or collision. The rear seats have no head rests and this is a full 4-door vehicle. I also have noticed that Ford is now equipping newer vehicles of the same model year with rear seat head rests. This implies that Ford apparently acknowledges that a significant safety hazard exists since they chose to redesign the rear seat within a single model year. I am very concerned about the safety of my vehicle and feel that it should be retrofitted with the new rear seat head rests at no cost.
My complaint is with the rear seat headrests or lack of. My 2001 does not have headrests. Since then Ford has added as standard equipment rear seat headrests. I am concerned about the safety of the rear seat passengers. If Ford felt that they were neccesary on newer 2001s perhaps it is neccesary on mine also. I would like Ford to tell me why they made this change mid year if not for safety reasons.
Rear seats of this vehicle have no headrests. This is a potential serious safety issue. Ford has addresed this with their latest update of this model by including rear seat headrests. However, for buyers such myself who purchased before this change, the lack of headrests is a serious safety concern!!! Ford should recall and replace!.
"my Ford F-150 supercrew 4-door pickup truck does not have head restraints in the rear 60/40 split bench seat. This is a safety concern as rear seat passengers will hit their heads on the rear glass in a crash. New trucks of this model are now redesigned and have rear head restraints. Models manufactured earlier do not. When I called Ford customer service to complain of the safety concern of having no rear head restraints and to ask for the new redesigned seats, they said they would not replace the seats. They are ignoring owners with models manufactured before the newly redesigned rear seats. Ford also redesigned the front seats to now include head restraints instead of the old design of taller integrated head restraints. I believe this is also a safety concern in that I cannot adjust the front seat head restraint to properly protect me in a crash. I also wish to have new front seat captain's chairs from the newly designed model's front seats. ".
My Ford F-150 supercrew 4-door pickup truck does not have head restraints in the front, or rear, 60/40 split bench seats. This is a safety concern as rear seat passengers will hit their heads on the rear glass in a crash. New trucks of this model are now redesigned and have rear head restraints. Models manufactured earlier do not. I called Ford customer service to complain of the safety concern, of having no front or rear head restraints, and to ask for the new redesigned seats, they said they would not replace the seats in early production vehicles. I also wish to have new front seats from the newly designed model's. I inquired as to why the seat design was changed, and was told that all automotive manufacturers institute running changes during current model production in the name of product improvement. Personally, I feel that the change was made to correct a potentially dangerous situation that the manufacturer was aware of all along. I wonder if these same people would let their families ride in a vehicle with the "old" style seats???.
Lack of headrests is a safety concern. Rear occupants put in danger. Mfr has since revised design to add them in newer models.
No rear seat headrest to protect rear passengers in accident. Ford has re-designed seats mid year to address this issue. My vehicle is 2 months old and I did not get the proper seats.
Head rests have been installed on newer models of the same, I feel that Ford should recall my truck and others of the same year (2001) and update our rear seats to have headrests. I beleive that the headrest were installed by Ford for the prevention of a passenger's head be put thru the rear window. This is definitley a problem that Ford saw coming and decided to include the headrest on the newer version of the same year for precaution. . This to me should be a recall by Ford to replace my present rear seat wihout headrests, with one that has them. Thank you.
The 2001 Ford supercrew pickup truck with 4 fullsize doors designed to seat 3 full size adults in the rear. This truck does not have head restraints for the rear seats. Later made trucks of this same 2001 model year and style have been redesigned to include rear seat head restraints. And also have redesigned front seat head restraints. Ford motor company has made changes in its later manufactured vehicles concerning this safety issue. But when you contact Ford customer service they advise they will not replace these front and back seat assemblies, ignoring owners of vehicles with this safety concern. I believe Ford should recall the vehicle and correct an under designed safety issue that has been corrected buy later manufactured vehicles. Thank you.
My early built f150 supercrew did not come with rear seat headrests. It has come to my attention that the newer supercrews do come with headrests. As we all know, headrests are extremely important in crashes to prevent injuries, and I think Ford has realized that in the supercrews, so they put them in the newer ones. I believe Ford should have the responsibilty to replace the seats of all supercrews that did not come with the rear head rests.
If I'm involved in a rear end type of crash where I'm hit from rear I'm concerned that my rear seated passengers head may hit the rear window glass because of a flaw in design of rear seats not having a head rest. Your attention to this matter is greatly appreciated since I have two elementary sschool children that are my main passengers and since they cannot sit in front of truck because of airbag deployment concerns. Thank you.
I believe the new change to the mid-model F-150 supercrew's rear seat, by adding the head restraint is a great idea and should be retrofitted into the older models which were not equipped with those restraints. Sitting at the height in which the seats are constructed can (and does) result in the head striking the rear window upon acceleration and when whipped back in a sudden braking incident. To prevent any form of litigation from an accident Ford mo. Co. Should issue a recall and ammend the situation.
I'm just worried about the lack of headrest in the rear seats of my truck in the event of an accident.
The 2001 Ford supercrew does not come with rear headrests. There has been a few occassions where my passengers have bumped their heads on the glass panel just behind the rear seats. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate this issue with Ford to determine a suitable fix. Through my research, I have learned that Ford has upgraded the rear seats (current production) however my unit was one of the first produced and did not receive the updated seats. Please advise.
In my 2000 F-150 supercab pick-up, which has four doors and seating for six (three in the back seat), lack of rear head restraints, coupled with a very low rear seat back height and the very close proximity of the rear window (glass) to occupants' heads means that serious injury may occur should the vehicle be hit from behind by another vehicle. Occupants' heads should be protected by head restraints from contacting the glass. The vehicle manufacturer should be compelled to retro-fit head restraints that it has chosen to supply on 2001 supercrew models of this same pick-up, or should supply owner retro-fittable head restraints for the rear seat.

Rear seats are unsafe without headreast.
My Ford F-150 supercrew 4-door pickup truck does not have head restraints in the rear 60/40 split bench seat. Rear seats do not have headrests or any type of head support. The rear window glass is immediately behind the seats. Rear seat passengers can hit their heads on the rear window. Ford has added headrests to current production vehicles so they obviously agree with this major safety concern. I feel Ford should recall all 2001 f150 supercrews and change the rear seat to the current seat they are now using.
No head protection for rear passengers /small children hit heads on back glass.
There is a safety issue with the rear seats not having a head rest, the seats are to low and in case of an accident the passangers on the back are going to hit there heads on the rear window, I have too kids and I don't want for them to get hurt in case of an accident; it could be a severe injury in a rear end collicion. Thanks for your time.
The problem is that there is no support for the rear seats and during sudden stops rear passengers have hit their heads on the rear window. No summary listed for above vehicle.
The rear seats in my supercrew do not have a head rest this would be dangerous in an accident to anyone sitting in the back seat.
Vehicle lacks rear seat head rests / head support. Any movement of vehicle causes rear seat occupants to hit head on the rear window.
Lack of rear seat headrest are a safety problem for occupants of the rear seat in case of a accident. Occupents could hit their head on rear window causing significant injury.
Ford has updated the rear seats with head rests in later 2001 modles. The earlier models should be retrofitted with these head rests too. It's a major safety issue.
The 'newer' supercrews have rear headrests, but the early 2001 models do not. I feel that all versions should have rear headrests.
Without rear seat headrests, rear passengers head hits rear glass on cab.
