38 Power Window problem of the 2005 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 11/01/2010

2005 Ford F-150. Had window regulator replaced in may for driver's window. Just had passenger window roll down on its own on the highway during a thunderstorm. I was in the backseat while my husband and father-in-law were in the front. I was drenched, as was the interior. I contacted Ford and they basically said "not our problem", I can't afford the $500+ it costs to get it fixed, especially when I have talked to numerous people who have had the same problems. This is obviously an ongoing issue with them and I can't understand why Ford hasn't been forced to do a recall. What if someone in the backseat was hit by a hailstone? what if the glass had shattered and hit that child? what if the window went down while at an intersection and someone had carjacked me? I could be dead because Ford wants to put out shoddy work and not stand behind it. I have had other issues with this truck, but this is the worst. My handle for the tilt steering wheel broke off after 6 months, the back part of the side mirror fell off while I was driving to work one morning. Please do whatever has to be done to force a recall.

2004 Ford F-150 truck window regulator failures. Recently, my driver's side window made a load popping sound, then fell into the door. I brought it into my Ford dealership who informed me that this is a common problem where the regulator fails. The repair cost was $400. 43 Power Window problem of the 2004 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 10/16/2010

I own a 2004 Ford f150. Last Saturday we attempted to roll down electric window on passenger side rear. It made a clicking sound and window came crashing down. This left my vehicle vulnerable to rain or theft all weekend. Just two months ago we had same problem with front passenger window when on our way to vacation destination. We had to replace power window regulator for cost of $300 plus labor?!?!? looking online I have found many other complaints of same model vehicle with same issues.

44 Power Window problem of the 2004 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 10/16/2010

2004 Ford f150 window regulators. Driving home at night window started lowering itself. No way to secure truck that night. Took apart window and removed regulator. The part of the window that secures glass is a combination of metal and plastic the plastic piece secures the cables that are attached to the power window motor. These plastic pieces are under too much stress and then either begin cracking or break altogether. This causes the cable to be unsecured thus causing the window glass to no longer have support. There are one of two easy fixes for this problem that I can see,or maybe three. The first is to redesign the part without the use of plastic. Number two is to offer this particular piece separate because it actually can be remove without any problem from the window tracks and offer it as an alternative repair part for those who are mechanically inclined to repair it themselves,or have a recall on these regulators. I believe if a recall was offered on these regulators the fix would be the removable alternative part. Too keep from having continuing recalls the part should be all metal or upgrade the plastic somehow although all metal would be better. If a recall is offered ,dealers will want the small removable part as the fix I'm almost sure of. In the mean time I will have to search for the complete regulator with or without motor which is becoming difficult because most parts companies want to sell the complete assembly or in my case don't offer the rear window regulator which forces us too have to go too Ford and pay in excess of 200 dollars for the part and labor for those who are not mechanically inclined. Anyway if door glass is falling and shattering this is a safety issue and because this can happen in extreme weather. Also the vehicle cannot be secured causing theft to rise and thus insurance rates too rise also. Tell Ford to fix the problem. Thank you for this link.

46 Power Window problem of the 2004 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 10/13/2010

I have a 2004 Ford F-150. Over the last two years I have had to replace three of the four power window regulators. Just this last week the fourth one broke. I have spent approximately $250-$350 each time. I also have a father-in-law with the same year Ford F-150 who has experienced the same issues. He has replaced three of the four, and knows it is just a matter of time before his fourth goes out. I have talked with the head mechanic at the local Ford dealership and he says he is replacing them all the time and that Ford should have issued a recall on them, but has not done so. I have found that several thousand other people have had the same issues with this year model. I am very disappointed in Ford that they know there is and has been a problem with these parts and have not helped out their customers. This will and has already helped in my future discussions on purchasing another Ford vehicle.

47 Power Window problem of the 2005 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 10/13/2010

On September 20, 2010, the window regulator failed abruptly while I was driving my 2005 Ford f150 at 55 mph. The front passenger window fell into the door without warning. On October 13, 2010, the rear driver's side window failed in the same fashion. Both incidents struck me as very dangerous with a comparably high probability to cause an accident. After this last incident, I reviewed the numerous websites dedicated to this issue and the concern expressed by many drivers that Ford has refused to respond to what is clearly a grave safety hazard. Why has NHTSA not addressed this issue? .

50 Power Window problem of the 2005 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 10/10/2010

I was driving down the highway in my f150 when my driver side window drop making a loud noise. I almost lost control of the vehicle and my 3 yr in the back seat was very frightened. We were 3hours from home. I was able to drive but we hit a thunderstorm 1 hour from home. It was very hard to control my vehicle and I went to the nearest gas station to weight out the storm. There have been over 1,000 complaints filed and probably is only the tip of the iceberg. This part which is the regulator needs to be recalled.

53 Power Window problem of the 2005 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 10/04/2010

I was driving my 2005 Ford f150 fx4 and traveling at approximately 45 mph when all of a sudden my front driver's side window came crashing down. I was shocked not knowing at all what was going on. I momentarily had little or no control of the vehicle due to my sudden shock and confusion. Once I had realized that the window had basically just fallen from its closed position, I was furious. Furious that something as simple as a window suddenly crashing open, almost caused me to crash into oncoming traffic, endangering my life as well as my wife's and others on the road. I know this may not seem very dangerous, but put yourself in the driver's seat and imagine your window being shot out while traveling 45mph. It was terrifying, and I am lucky not to have had a more serious incident. I immediately drove my vehicle to the nearest Ford dealer. To my dismay, the service manager informed me that there was not a current recall for this situation and I would need to have a new window regulator installed. Basically, the window regulator failed, which caused the window to crash down. After researching this problem, I have found that thousands of others have had this same issue (some multiple times) with either the 2004 or 2005 year models. This is absolutely a serious problem with this model and needs to be addressed immediately. Ford needs to issue a safety recall now to make this right for the loyal customers.

57 Power Window problem of the 2004 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 09/30/2010

Two window regulator's broken in 6 days, I am only one of over 800 complaints on this website alone. . Just think about how many thousands there must be that just go to the dealer and never take the time to go online to complain. I can see that Ford as well as NHTSA has no plans to correct this safety issue. If someone knows of a good class action lawsuit lawyer let me know. I think we must need someone to die in an accident related to this issue before anything will be done. I should have never left Toyota, I had three different Toyota trucks and never saw a shop other than for an oil change. My 04 f150 had a transmission failure at 75,000 on the dot. . I have put over $5,000 of maintenance into my truck in the four years I have owned it.

58 Power Window problem of the 2004 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 09/29/2010

2004 Ford f150 motor regulator failure on all 4 windows over the course of 2 years, after mfg warranty has expired. 60 Power Window problem of the 2004 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 09/29/2010

My Ford F-150 drivers window popped extremely loud and fell into the door. I was driving on the highway when this took place and it made me jerk the wheel because I thought another car had hit me. I have done some research on this and it appears this is a systemic problem with Ford. I would consider this a serious safety issue with the Ford product. The window just falls for no reason and apparently the dealer is taking advantage of the situation and over charging. According to the web discussions, countless complaints have been made with Ford and ntsb over this issue. This makes both organizations liable because of notifications made. Ignorance is not an excuse! this is not an isolated issue but systemic with Ford. Just read some of the stories posted and you will be alarmed at the incidents. As always, until a deaths are recorded, this matter will be shelved. The consumer should be recognized since we are the ones paying for the products and supporting business. I will also being posting this on the nbc news website as well.

About one month ago, 2004 f150 back front driver side window fell because the regulator stopped working. I big pop was heard before the window started to fall. I had it repaired for about $300. 63 Power Window problem of the 2005 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 09/27/2010

While driving on the highway at a speed of 55-65. I thought I was shot at causing me to be distracted from my driving. When I pulled over to see if I was shot or if something hit my car I noticed my left hand rear window was down in the door. This occurred yesterday 9/27/10. When I returned home I pulled off the panel and found that the window regulator in my 2005 Ford f150 was not working. After inquiring about repairing this I noticed that this problem with Ford's window regulators is an ongoing issue and that there is a number of complaints by patrons replacing up to four windows in one vehicle. This is certainly a safety issue and an insurance issue regarding accidents and theft of vehicle and property. These windows fall at any given time while parked or driving. This issue needs to be investigated for sure! when I thought I was shot at it scared me so bad especially in these times when you have shooters out there on the freeways and highways. These car manufactures are using faulty parts to these regulators for the windows and warranties and will not cover them as the parts are not warranted. I can't imagine someone getting killed or in an accident over a small plastic part in a window regulator. Please address this situation. A total recall of these window regulators has to be addressed.
