2 Rearview Mirror problem of the 2010 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 11/03/2013

Warmed up car before church. Turned on front and rear defroster. Backed up, put it in drive and heard what sounded like something crashing into my roof or a gunshot. I stopped and inspected the steel body parts and could find nothing. Driving down the road I noticed in my rearview mirror that my right side of my sliding rear window had shattered. It remained in place. I took this into the dealer on Monday and they fixed it saying a reed switch had malfunctioned allowing the glass to get too hot and shattering.

3 Rearview Mirror problem of the 1999 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 10/06/2001

Both side mirrors were "bubbled up" inside the glass (mirror with turn signal inside) to the point that you could not see out of them to safely drive the vehicle. Dealer did agree to replace at "dealer cost" (over $200). The person in the body shop who replaced the mirrors said that it was a factory defect and should be replaced free. Manager would not agree to do this. The new mirrors were of a totally different design to "correct previous flaws". We also own another 1999 Ford F-150 that is developing the same problem with the mirrors. When contacted Ford refused to take responsibility unless "the government issues a recall".

8 Rearview Mirror problem of the 1999 Ford F-150

Both mirrors are pealing, I've lost 90 % of my view. I have the mirrors with the lighted turns signals in them. Ford has used a film like tint on them and they are not holding up. They have gone to a new style mirror on the newer trucks using a regular mirror with the lighted turn signals on the out side. I have contacted brandon Ford about the problem and at this time there is no recall and they won't cover it with my esp plan.
