1 Tire Blowout problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 11/05/2018

Bf goodrich bf15l3110317 tire blew out while driving to work. On the way to work on 11/05/18 while driving on the highway I suddenly heard a rumbling sound coming from the passenger rear tire and immediately pulled over to the guard rail on the highway. Lucky for me, no other car was beside me when I had to pull over so quickly before causing damage to my truck or anyone else. I took the tire back to where I purchased it and asked if there have been any recalls on that set of tires purchased in 2017. The sales representative stated nothing listed, but strangely the tire has been discontinued for sales. Called the manufacturer and gave them all the information about the incident and awaiting car care center to contact them with all the details. Hopefully this is not a trend where other consumers are at risk.

Had to argue with campland and thor to get the tire covered. This ended up costing me time, money and lose of use. I had to pay for the new tire and pay to have it mounted. I complained that the other tires were damaged from the rubbing and losing air. They would not replace the other tire damaged from the ruvbbing of the damaged tire. Filed a claim for tire 11-20-2015 229. 79 12-3-2015 +99 mount 12-3-2015 complained to campland and thor motor coach about camper leak and tire issues again losing air campland set tires to mfg specs. Nothing was done about the tires. Took RV out on another trip oct 2016 checked tire psi upon return trip because tires looked low. Had a tire company air up the tires in alambama. Upon the return trip home had a tire blow out on the interstate. Contacted campland, Ford, michelin, Ford freeway Ford. I told them I did not feel safe driving the RV with bad tires and I asked for them to be replaced. Took RV to discount tire, and they recommended replacement. Tire had less than 4,000 miles. Ford towed the RV to freeland Ford to fix the blow out and fix the rest of the tires. The RV was down from oct 2016-Jan 10 2017. The results were slow and no one wanted to take accountability for the bad tires losing air. Everyone wants to keep pointing fingers, but nothing gets done. Finally replaced the blown out tire and tightened the value stems. Upon towing the towing company did not leave the axle freeland had to replace the axle from towing. Got the RV back and complained again that tires were losing air. May 1 2017 went to take RV out for next trip it has 6,000 miles on it and it has flat tires again. 13 Tire Blowout problem of the 2009 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/23/2009

Tire blowout brand: hankook model: dynapro as made: korea dot: t79c pjnh 4008 I have had multiple problems with these tires, while driving home my front tire blew out on my 2009 Ford f150 truck causing me to hit the side median which then caused my trailer tire to blow out and bent my trailer tires rim as well. When this incident occurred my truck only had a little over 3000 miles on it. I took it to my Ford dealer and they argued that some one cut it. When I took it to another tire shop before they even looked at it they said that the rim on the tire had caused the cut. And it indeed was Fords fault. I replaced the tire and bought a new one from discount tire. Same brand same model so it would match. Today on Jan 14 2010 I took my truck in for an oil change and tire rotation, when they rotated my tires the new tire I bought had a massive ball on the inside of it. The new tire only had 3000 miles of wear. These tires are the stock tires that Ford has been using on their F-150 series since 2007 and probably longer. I had a set of these tires on my 2007 F-150 and at 9000 miles they started forming balls on the tires, and the front tires began to cup outward. Both trucks I have purchased from spikes Ford in mission texas. When I purchased my vehicles they came with tire road hazard warranty when I took it to Ford they told me it was my problem and would not cover anything. In my opinion these problems on two separate vehicles two years apart are a firestone hazard in the making. I like Ford vehicles but when someone starts putting my life and others in danger I cant tolerate that. I know that if this incident has occurred to me multiple times with two different F-150s from two different years it has occurred to others as well.

15 Tire Blowout problem of the 2008 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 08/29/2008

I bought a new Ford f 150 4x4 pickup 5/1/08 and have had 2 tires blow out. 1 turning around in a forest service camp ground and 1 on the freeway at 75 mph. These tires have not been abused or mistreated in any way. The worst use they have seen is 20 miles at 35 mph on an improved county gravel road. . I feel Ford motor company made an error putting passenger rated tires on a light truck. Especially a four wheel drive. Out of safety concern, and just plain got tired of buying replacements, I've had to replace all 5 tires with lt tires rated for pickup use at a cost of $800. I would like to see some help in recovering my costs to get a tire I feel should have been on this vehicle in the first place. These tires are hankook p235 75 r17.

Failure Date: 09/30/2001

Had a tire blowout while on interstate. Goodyear dealer inspected tire and determined that there was no cuts or punctures that caused the blowout. Goodyear offered a discount on a new tire based on tread wear. Goodyear dealers , however do not have the tire needed. I contacted goodyear and they said they are on back order and I should just but a used tire to use until tires are available. I don't want to use any used tires and I am now afraid of my other tires on any interstate driving. Goodyear was very uncooperative to try to help me in any way except to say they don't have my particular tire. I would be willing to upgrade to a better tire and install a complete new set if they would consider their discout on the better tires. I feel that I have not been treated fairly as the tire defect was not any fault of mine. . . Can your organization help me in any way? I have some more interstate trips to make and do not feel safe without having new tires installed. Nd. (tiresize: p275/60r17).

Reported problem to firestone dealer in austin, mn. They indicated the tire was not in the recall and they would do nothing for us, except price new tires. The tire blew up while one of our employees was driving on an interstate. We are extremely fortunate that no one was injured. We had to ask specifically to get the tire back from the firestone dealer. We feel other firestone wilderness tires should be considered for the recall. We are not after money, but these tires are dangerous. How man more lives have to be lost in order for firestone to take responsibility. Thank you. ( dot number: p235 tire size: 70r16 1045 ).

35 Tire Blowout problem of the 1997 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/28/2000

I replaced my firestone wilderness at tires on 7/28/00 because of cracks on the sidewalls (just prior to recall). I showed this to a service advisor at townsend MA. Ford on 9/25/98 but was advised Ford does not warranty tires. My brother-in-law w/same truck & tires blew out the sidewalls of two tires while traveling on dirt roads going to his camp in northern maine. We both believe there is a defect with the p235/70r16 series of firestone wilderness tires. Although they do not qualify for the current recall program, nor did they exhibit the reported tread separation problem, I am convinced the "cracked sidewall" issue should be investigated. I would like to be notified if a defect is verified. ( dot number: vn08ipu496 tire size: p235/70r16 ).
