2 Tire Valve problem of the 2007 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/05/2010

I bought a used Ford 2007 F-150 super crew cab 4x4. New tires were put on by the dealer. I have had three separate incidents of the tire valve stems breaking and causing deflation while in movement. After two breaking I went to the dealer and complained. I was told they had no reason or complaints of this occurring. While traveling out of state I had a third stem break. Each time I had new stems replaced. I began researching for myself and found an article which stated that Ford had complaints of defective valve stems on almost all their vehicles including Mercury's. After two attempts and complaints to my dealer I went to a local tire distributor and they recommended replacing all rubber valve stems with brass high pressure valve stems. After doing this I have not had a problem. The cost for rubber stems are around $1. 50 each and I paid $6. 00 each for the good stems. This is a small price to pay for you and your family's safety. My dealer still hasn't contacted me with a suggestion as to correcting the problem. First incident was around April 5, 2010 and second incident August 24, 2010 and third was October 18,2010.

3 Tire Valve problem of the 2003 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 09/26/2009

I purchased new tires and rims in 05/2006. These tires and rims are only used from may through October. On September 26, 2009 I had a tire lose air on the interstate. I pulled over as rapidly as possible. Upon examination I found the valve stem to be cause of the tire failure, upon further examination I found the other wheels had valve stems that were cracking in the same manner as the valve stem that failed. I had the valve stems replacedin the three tires that didn't fail but was unable to on the tire that went flat because of sidewall damage to that tire. At this time I found out there had been a recall on valve stems. After further investigation I found out my valve stems are not part of the recall. The recall involves valve stems manufactured for dill or tech International between 07/2006 and 11/ 2006. The valve stems I have are tr 413 manufactured by argo winsoonshanghai. I have two of the valve stems and the damaged tire.

4 Tire Valve problem of the 2007 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 08/14/2009

Bought new in 2007 Ford F-150 pickup truck all original equipment and owner only 19,000 miles on original tires. Blew out during normal dry driving conditions pulling a empty 16 ft trailer. If it hadn't been that it was the rear passenger side tire and late at night on a divided highway would have had a wreck. Truck went all over the road due to the blow out. Valve stem completely gone. These tires were the original hankook 17 inch tires that were sold with this truck and the truck only had 19k miles the whole side of the tire blew the tread is still there side of tire in shreds and no valve stem at all just an empty hole where it should be. If this had of been a steering tire could have possibly lost control. I still have 3 more of these tires on the truck; is there a recall on the stems or tires for these trucks what should I do? I currently have the spare on the truck will this happen to it? do the tires need replacing? they still have plenty of tread but are they defective/safe? will or shouldn't the truck warranty cover this?.

13 Tire Valve problem of the 2007 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 02/01/2009

Tire valve stem failure on my 2007 Ford f150. I've received Ford's safety notice 5 months after one of my tire valve stems have failed. Their notice gave no indication that they intend to replace the defective valve stems. Their remedy as outlined for correction of the problem by monthly inspection of valve stem is far from corrective or preventive. I had very recently checked tire pressure, and inspected tires, valve stems, and lug nut torque prior to a long trip when my valve stem failed. Fortunately their was not an accident related to this failure. However, if there have been other accidents related to this problem: you may contact me for any litigation testimony.

14 Tire Valve problem of the 2007 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 12/14/2008

Front left tire deflated rapidly while traveling on an interstate. Before I could get safely off the highway the tire came apart. Upon examination the only reason for the loss of air appears to be a cracked valve stem. I checked the other 3 wheels and found the valve stems all cracked. I could have had multiple tire failures! I purchased a new tire and am having all 5 valve stems replaced. This could very easily have been a deadly accident. Ford customer service will not acknowledge that this is a defect, they say it falls under the 12 month tire warranty, my vehicle is 17 months old.

18 Tire Valve problem of the 2002 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 08/26/2008

070508 discovered flat tire on truck parked in driveway of home. Determined flat was caused by valve stem crack. Had valve stem replaced at tire shop. Different tire, same brand, went flat while driving on interstate, 082608. Had road service replace with spare tire to drive home. Inspected tire at home and determined another valve stem crack/defect. No accident or vehicle damage occurred, although the interstate flat may have been but I was notified by passing motorists that tire was going flat. Will take latest flat tire to tire shop this weekend to have another valve stem replacement. Concerned that all four tires are same make and brand, bought at same time, and I have had two valve stem failures in two months.

26 Tire Valve problem of the 2007 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/01/2008

I own a Ford -150 super crew and I bought it in may of 2007. Two months ago I had a valve stem blow out. I got it fixed. This past Tuesday. I had another valve stem blow out. I took it to a tire repair shop and the other two valve stems we're dry-rotted. I had them replace all three. I believe there is a serious problem with Ford putting on old valve stems. There is no way four valve stems should have dry rotted in 13 months.

30 Tire Valve problem of the 1998 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/16/2008

This is for defective valve stems. I purchased new tires from mavis tire corp. In November 2006 and in June 2008 I had 1 valve stem fail. It happened while the car was parked. I brought it back and had to insist to have it replaced free of charge since it was a defective part. At that time I did not know of the problem that existed with the stems. Now I am beginning to wonder if the other 3 valve stems will fail as well. I am sure they will not replace them free of charge without a recall.

31 Tire Valve problem of the 2007 Ford F-150

2007 Ford f150 was leased from enterprise leasing on March 31, 2008 at gainesville, florida. The tire pressure monitoring system (tpms) showed low tire pressure at time of lease delivery. Agent for enterprise had tires inflated at time of lease delivery. Was informed by enterprise that tires and air pressure were fine. On April 6, 2008 (6 days later), the vehicle hydroplaned going 55 mph in 55 mph zone on straight, level roadway and crashed almost killing complainant and wife. Discovered uneven tread on tires and defective tire valve stem on front passenger side tire.

Purchased 4 new tires approximately June 2006 from ntb. One year later had blow-out and purchased new tire. Shortly thereafter had 3 flat tires and ntb said that the valve stems were defective and replaced. I believe that the blow-out that I had was a result of a defective valve stem, but there was no way to prove.

34 Tire Valve problem of the 2005 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/17/2006

I have a 2005 Ford f150 leased in July of 2005. I have experienced two incidences where a tire has gone flat in a matter of seconds while highway driving at speeds near 60 mph. I was able to avoid an accident in each case but this could have gone terribly wrong if I was not able to control the vehicle to pull off to the side of the road as it was difficult to control or to keep in my lane. The second incident occurred on July 17, 2006. While driving at highway speed, near 65 mph, my right rear tire went flat within 5 seconds. I had a difficult time trying to steer the truck and nearly collided with the vehicle next to me. I removed the wheel from the truck and took it to a local Ford dealer. The tire technician inspected the wheel and told me the valve stem was leaking; no hole or puncture in the tire could be found. They removed the tire from the rim and inspected the tire to find damage in the inner wall of the tire. I requested that the tire, valve stem, and labor be covered under warranty. The service representative told me that he did not think it was their fault. He stated that I would have to buy a new tire and they would replace the valve stem. I argued that I had nothing to do with the failure of the tire and I believed it should be covered under warranty. I explained that I though Ford has a safety issue with the valve stems and he continued to tell me I must have hit a pot hole or something. I was very upset that he was entirely avoiding the issue at hand and blaming me for what appears to be a manufacturer's defect.
