I own a 2021 Ford F-150 [lariat powerboost] affected by recall 23s65 (rear axle bolt). The bolts have severed. Ford has advised that my truck is unsafe to drive until repaired. When I brought the vehicle in, I was told parts were available. I drove the car home and later discovered from paperwork that the repair was not completed only the parts had been ordered. I was told not to take the truck on my upcoming vacation pulling my camper. I opened a case with Ford customer care and was originally told parts would arrive before my scheduled use, but now I am told they will not be available for weeks. This creates a serious safety and hardship issue. My family is scheduled to leave for a trip this Thursday that requires this vehicle to transport my family and tow our camper. Ford has not provided a rental or loaner vehicle capable of replacing my truck, despite advising it is unsafe to drive. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate Ford’s failure to provide a timely remedy or interim solution for a safety-critical recall that removes my vehicle from safe use.
Vehicle experienced a flat tire on the side of a busy highway. The factory installed wheel rim was impossble to remove from the hub because it was corroded to the hub. Teo people had to stand in the traffic lane on an interstate highway to use mechanical leverage to remove the wheel. This vehicle is only 2 months old.
Drove it out to CA from texas. Purchased for planet Ford who told me the truck was k to drive and no axel problem. Drove it out to CA from texas when we moved in late April - after that went to santa barbara and dashboard controls went dead. Speedometer and may other controls stopped working. Truck felt sluggish. Took it into tuttle click Ford Lincoln in irvine and they said they real axel was about to fall off and took the truck away. They've had it for a month and said they may have it for another 2-4 week or longer.
The rear axle hub bolt on my 2021 Ford F-150 powerboost failed to meet design safety standards and is subject to recall 23s65. The vehicle is currently at a Ford dealership and is available for inspection upon request. My safety was put at risk because the bolt can shear off without warning, causing the rear axle shaft to disengage. This can result in sudden loss of propulsion or vehicle rollaway, especially if parked on an incline. Ford has acknowledged this risk but has not made a final repair available for powerboost models. I was not offered a loaner, and I cannot confirm if the vehicle is safe to drive. The problem has been confirmed by the dealership. They told me they are unable to perform even the interim repair until at least July 22 and that there is no eta at all for the final fix specific to hybrid (powerboost) models. The vehicle was inspected by a Ford dealer but not by Ford motor company representatives directly. Ford customer service has failed to provide any meaningful support or confirmation of safety. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the recall. Ford states the failure may occur without symptoms, which makes the defect more dangerous. I have not personally experienced a failure yet, but I'm being asked to either drive the vehicle in this condition or go without transportation indefinitely.

On Saturday (April 19th), I looked at my rear tire, passenger side, and noticed a bolt inside my hub. After seeing that I parked my vehicle. This morning I called al packer Ford east, told them I had this issue and know its a recall, the lady told me I needed to drive my vehicle in for them to be serviced, when I told her it was unsafe, she well that not my problem.
Truck randomly downshifts/ jerks really hard while driving all speeds. On 4/19 I was driving 65mph and truck felt like slamming brakes on, while speedometer pin bounces around, then a wrench showed up on the dash screen, I pulled over turned truck off sat for a few minutes, turned it back on, everything seemed finer and continued driving home, with no more issues. On 4/27 I was coming home from groccery store going about 30-35mph truck dropped down to first gear and then back to 4th gear. My pregnant wife and daughter were in the car when this happened. I've called local Ford dealership, and they ask me to come in for diagnosis, but I know this is a factory recall issue via 24v-444. I'm not sure if the truck is safe to drive, this randomly happens, but seems to be happening more and more frequently past 2 months or so.

Hello, I am writing a request to supplement 19n01 on Ford models as I had a near accident that almost happened. First, as I was driving, my mileage odometer was glitching showing dashes "------", also notice that my check engine light came on and as a result the airbag off warning was showing as well. As a result of all this, seems that the vehicle malfunction as my vehicle was in "limp mode" while all of this was happening and when pressing the gas no acceleration was happening (mind you that was all happening in heavy traffic). After moving steadily and avoiding heavy traffic, I parked my vehicle to the side and turn it on and off. This seems to restart the system however my check engine was still on. After further research on this issue, I see that this is a known issue that happens with the model of my vehicle. After calling the dealership with my issue, they state it is a customer program rather than a recall. I beg NHTSA to please supplement this known issue and instead of 10 years, please use the 150k mileage. I cannot be driving with this unsafe issue as it was a scary issue that happen during traffic.

When backing Ford F-150 up on any kind of an incline rear end is locked up for about ten seconds causing a safety risk. When shifting from reverse to drive. Does not do this on a flat surface. Have almost been hit three times now by cars coming around the corner of my street. Does not throw a code. Been at dealership a couple weeks. Dealership sent tech to house to observe. Did it every time! truck only has 800 miles on it.
Unable to rotate tires or change a flat tire because per dealer Ford lug nuts are swollen and they can not come off with standard tool (lug wrench). Dealer informed me this has been an issue for years but there are no recalls. I was shocked to find out a simple issue like a flat tire can not be fixed due to the simplest designed piece of equipment on the vehicle (lug nut). Dealer stated I can buy replacement lug nuts from Ford for about $200. 00 but they will do the same thing over time. I just found many write ups about this ongoing problem and wonder why NHTSA allows this to not be a recall . . . This is a safety issue. Get Ford to redesign the lug nut, make it a simple one piece design and relace at no charge. If I or one of my family members get a flat tire and is stranded that would not be good!.
This is a major issue with Ford f150s. I am not sure how this was never a recall. Ford issues a TSB for this but nothing is the TSB fixes the issue. There is a major fault in the iwe system that causes the 4x4 to engage randomly causing the truck to have major steering issues. It causes grinding, like metal on metal grinding, the steering wheel locks in place at times and I personally almost dies several times from this. The locking steering wheel caused me to crash into a ditch because I could not bring the steering wheel back to center. This has randomly happened to me several times while driving, the TSB claims the issue to be intermittent, which it is due to the fault in this iwe system. Ford needs to literally cover and replace the entire iwe system before someone gets hurt. Please look this up, this is a very known issue that deserves to be a recall and not a TSB. Please help save lives.

On my new Ford F-150 lightning, five out of the six studs on the right front wheel sheared off, leaving just one lug nut and stud holding the wheel on. I took my truck into the Ford dealership who repaired the vehicle and it was returned to me. They did not appear to be escalating the dangerous situation to Ford. The dealership kept the removed parts for warranty submission.
I made a left-hand turn during a snow storm, and the right rear wheel slid and I made contact with the curb at a relatively low speed. The rear right wheel assembly failed and snapped, leaving the wheel assembly 90 degrees to normal. In other words, the wheel went from vertical to horizontal. Upon visual inspection, the axle snapped, and the axle's interior steel looked defective. The axle appeared very coarse, porous, and poorly consolidated. I requested to keep all the parts which are now located in storage. Both the insurance company and the Ford motor company dealership seemed to think the axle was defective. Nobody was injured or hurt.
Lug nuts swollen and unable to remove with provided equipment.
My 2017 f150 is 7 years old with 80k mileage. Engine problem: cold start ticking/tapping/rattle noise. Ford claimed it sent a letter in 2021 but I never received. Googled and found there are large amount of the same complaints on 2017-2020 f150 with 3. 5l ecoboost engine. The cam phaser / vct units will fail. Vehicles may not restart after auto-start-stop. Ford issued customer satisfaction program 21n03 and technical service bulletin tsb23-2143. Those measures are not enough. Ford should recall all 2017-2020 f150 with 3. 5l ecoboost built before Nov 30, 2019. Lug nuts at wheels: Ford used cheap two-piece nuts. All the nuts were swollen in Dec 2024 and could not be removed by myself. I had to drive my f150 to quick lane and paid $140 to get all the nuts replaced with one-piece nuts. An employee of quick lane told me Ford used cheap two-piece nuts for long time, and it's a common issue on some Ford vehicles. Image if a tire is flat on highway while the nuts are swollen and the flat tire can not be changed! Ford should recall all vehicles using the cheap two-piece nuts. I still keep the old nuts as an evidence.
The rear axle bolts - both - were sheared. Specifically, the bolt head and a portion of the bolt shaft were loose within the small hub cap that covers the axles. I was unaware that either bolt had failed. The failure was discovered on [xxx] when I took the vehicle into a Ford dealership for an oil change tire rotation. I was waiting for the service to be completed. The service advisor, rocky garcia, approached me and informed me that one of the rear axle bolts had sheared, and the vehicle was unsafe to drive. At my request he returned with one fairly large bolt head with a shaft that had clearly sheared. He said that this was not the subject of a recall, but that it was covered under warranty. When the vehicle was returned to me on Saturday, December 14, 2024 I learned from the invoice that both rear bolts had failed. The invoice states that both rear "axle shafts" were replaced. The vehicle was manufactured in July or August of 2024 and falls outside of the recall that exists for 2023 Ford F-150 with the trailer tow max package, Ford reference no. 23s65. A simple internet search reveals Ford has struggled with this same defect for years. The rear axle bolt is a critical component, and it is absurd that in 2023, Ford is struggling with using a bolt of sufficient strength. As I am reminded every time I start the vehicle, the Ford f series was in its 75th year in 2023. One would think that developing an axle bolt of sufficient strength after 75 years would not be hard. I have towed a camper approximately 10 times since the purchase of the vehicle in August 2023. The camper, fully loaded, weighs at most 3,600 lbs. The sheared bolt was retained by covert Ford in austin, TX. I felt no change in the handling of the vehicle at any time, there were no warning lamps, etc. , and heard no noise.
Have contacted 2 different Ford dealers starting from November 2024, when I bought the truck, to get this recall repaired. Dealers tell me they'll order the parts and get back to me, but never call me back. When I call them they tell me there's nothing they can do. This recall was issued in August of 2023. I've recieved 4 different recall letters since November of 2024 for different probmems related to my truck. It's been 2 years that have gone by with no remedy to repair this recall of the axle bolts breaking. . . I guess they're waiting until I'm in an accident and sue them before they'll do anything. . . . This is bs. . . !.

Seemingly related to NHTSA recall number 23v896. My rear passenger axle bolt has been sheared off. Ford dealership and Ford corporate have stated my VIN number is not covered under recall 23v896.
At 45 mph the gear downshifted causing back tires to skid. Then gear illumination disappeared and wouldn't go into gear(while trying to leave a steep boat ramp) very scary!.

I purchased a new 2024 Ford F-150 on August 31, 2024, and just six weeks later, on October 19, 2024, the entire left front suspension failed while I was driving at 50-55 mph. The truck suddenly and unexpectedly took a hard left and I nearly lost control of the vehicle. It was incredibly difficult to maintain control of the truck as it swerved dangerously, but I managed to guide it to the shoulder and called for a tow to the dealership where I bought it. I discovered the left front tire and rim had detached and the entire front suspension pulled out of the truck. The left front tire was positioned sideways under the truck. My concern is there's potential issues stemming from what appears to be a failure to properly torque the top control arm at the factory that are being covered up. I was told that Ford recalled some rangers and broncos after it was discovered the nut on the left upper control arm was either missing or not properly torqued in the plant. To my knowledge there has not been a recall on the f150 models. If the incident had occurred on the interstate or while meeting an oncoming vehicle, I have no doubt there would have been serious injuries or fatalities involved. The were no warning signs or symptoms prior to the incident occurring. The truck remained at the dealership in repair until November 20th.

Defected original lug nuts. Experienced lug nuts that had swollen and could no longer be removed from the wheels using a normal socket. High risk to be stranded if needing to change spare tire. Concern for overall wheel stability due to not being secure / tight due to mushrooming expensive to replace.
My 2017 Ford f150 crew cab listed has chrome wheels on it. Just replaced the original tires on the chrome wheels and the chrome chips off. According to the tire company and the Ford dealer, these wheels are defective and Ford knows about it. The dealer said that Ford has replaced these wheels because of the chrome coming off which makes the wheels weak. I contact Ford customer service and they did not see a recall. Ford recommended a contact national highway traffic safety association. File a case.
Broken rear-axle hub bolt driver side with max trailer tow package Ford is telling me it not covered recall reference number: 23s65.
Dealership could not rotate tires due to swollen lug nuts. Wanted $258. 00 to replace all lug nuts. I called 800-392-3673. Said vehicle out of warranty. Said had no other calls about this problem. I look on line lots of people have this problem. I will try to fix on my own before have flat and can not remove tire on side of road. Looks like a safety issue.

Issue was with the boat trailer tire for VIN 405119ba2lc000663. Goodyear marathon, st205/75r14, dot 2vkc vlhr 1315, 8/32 tread remaining. Steel belt failure. Tires pressure was set to 40 psi before trip. Failure occurred after 45 minutes on the highway traveling at 65 mph. Felt a bad vibration, then loud bang when air came out of tire. This tire is only 8 years old. I replace them at 10 years.
During the scheduled oil change service on 8/15/2024, I was informed that wheel lug nuts were swollen and tire rotation and inspection were not completed, even though I paid for a maintenance package. I replaced the lug nut two years ago for the same issue, and this will be my 3rd time replacing lug nuts on the vehicle.
Rear axle seal busted because the rear axle hub bolt broke. Dealer indicated this cause the axle boot to bust allowing water into the differential. Dealer stated parts for recall aren't available and/or are on national back order. Ford estimates a fix will be in place 1st quarter 2025. So I am out of a vehicle until this time. Ford refuses to cover a rental.
Went to my honest big o tire shop for tire rotation. Informed that lug nuts on wheels were very hard to remove. Recommended it replace them next oil change. Why wouldn't this be a Ford problem and a recall issue? seems to me to be dangerous and a real problem with a flat tire changed on the road.
Right price auto stated that they would do repairs 2000 Ford f150 XLT purchased truck, they supposedly repaired gas gage however bad battery & rear tires(extremely bald) were left untouched & kept lying about getting tires replaced(rather they were used tires or not),just constantly keep lying. . . . . . Also keep lying about repairing my 2015 ram 1500 5. 7v8 big horn stating they fixed it(misfire on #8),with all the lying & scheming(now all coil packs(8) & spark plugs(16) needs to be replaced),trucks are just sitting in my yard,2000 f150 bad battery & bald tires in rear(unsafe to drive),I feel cheated, they sold my trade in(2003 Dodge ram 1500)with in a week & leave my son & I with trucks that are inoperable, they stated these things would be repaired before we signed any papers but once we signed as-is document they started with the lying & scheming, either I want these matters fixed or I want the $2000 back for my trade in & the $500 cash they took off my debit card for a total of $2,500 & the $1500 cash down payment I gave them for the Ford f150 for a total of $4,000, we have trucks that are no use to us or they need to fix them, I'm not making anymore payments til these problems are resolved, period. . . . I made the first payments that were due(giving them the benefit of doubt) thinking the company would repair the trucks but no they act as if nothing is wrong & expect me to keep paying them, which I refuse, if this is not fraud I don't know what is & to think I brought a SUV from 2 years ago (no problems whatsoever) so I return to purchase from them again & they [xxx] my son [xxx] old) & myself over, wow!! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. Took truck for service maintenance and tire rotation. Tire rotation wasn’t done because tech said lug nuts were swollen and they couldn’t get lug nuts off. I took truck across street to big-o tires and they rotated tires and we had lug nuts replaced with steel lug nuts.

I had my vehicle in for a state inspection at a Ford dealership. They told me they could not remove the rear wheels because the lug nuts were swollen. In order to remove the rear wheels the lug nuts will be destroyed. What happens if I get a flat tire? how will I get the tire off? I have to get a new set of lug nuts and have them available if I ever want to get the rear wheels off. This is nuts (excuse the pun)! Ford should replace these lug nuts not me.
Had my tires rotated was told that I had swollen lug nuts. Ford dealer ship refuses to rotate my tires. Went to firestone’s where I purchased the tires said that the lug nuts were swollen.
