Just bought this truck. I was driving down the highway and my sunroof had exploded and blew off the top of my truck. I also noticed that my windshield is wavy and hard to see through.

Turned on rear window and heated mirror defrost. Rear window cracked loudly and broke in a spiderwebbed manner after about 10-15 minutes of the defrost being turned on. Tempered glass kept it from blowing completely out. May have caused injury if a passenger had been sitting in rear crew cab seat at the time. Spoke with safelite auto glass repair, was told they see this frequently with f150 trucks and think there is a problem with defrost function not shutting off like it should, causing excessive heat to window which eventually breaks the glass.

The rearview camera is and impossible to see when the sun hits it or after dark during the day it is blurry half way up. Been cleaned over and over and makes no difference. Dealer says this is the way it is. I have and own several Fords with no issues like this.

The windshield wiper linkage could corrode and seize. If this happens, the windshield wipers may not work. Windshield wipers that don't work could reduce visibility and increase the risk of a crash.
Rear glass shattered spontaneously. There are many reports of this issue over a wide range of model years and no acknowledgement from Ford. Vehicle was parked with engine running and rear defrost on, no prior damage to the rear window. The drivers side rear glass shattered suddenly with a loud bang and rained small glass slivers down on rear occupants. Was quoted $1080 by a glass installer for replacement. They said this is a common issue with these trucks.
My f150 2016 rear glass shatter for no reason. It was parked in driveway and when I came out of morning.
Wiper transmission corroded and seized causing it to burn out my wiper motor. Fixed and looked at by local Ford dealer and issue is the seized wiper transmission but not under the recall numbers for the same issue in other f150 (2015-2020 f150 assembled in canada) which mine is. How can I get reimbursed for the cost which should be covered under that recall.

The windshield was not sealed properly. The primer and glue were applied incorrectly and now has disintegrated over time causing a leak in the area where the pin holds the windshield at the drivers side of the vehicle. From what I understand this could cause the windshield to dislodge in an accident.

The windshield wipers stop working after 1 wipe.
Rear window/glass spontaneously shattered. Loud noise as it shattered entirely. No apparent cause while driving in parking lot with no bystanders.

There has been an issue with front led lights where they go out. It’s an electrical issue where my truck had both replaced and still in warranty this caused almost hit accidents a night. Many vehicles warned me by flashing the high beams. Also another issue is the transmission where it creates a huge jerk on the transmission causing a change in shift. Almost had an accident caused by it. No police involved and no accidents.
Driving to work this morning after remote starting my truck due to cold weather. 10 minutes into driving, the driver side of the 3-piece power slide rear glass shattered with no impact or any other damage. Online searching indicates it is a frequent problem and likely caused by the rear glass defroster.

Sunroof blowup. It didn't break: it blow up. Explosion was loud; disorienting ; confusing. It put vehicle, me and passagers at risk. Reson for the glass exploding are not clear. I was doing nothing that would cause it to happen. Not a use in time of explosion. No know stressers. No weather caused reasons in happening. It exploded for no know reason.

Windshield wiper motor failure during a heavy rain driving down I-40 at night with children in truck on the way to a soccer tournament in tulsa oklahoma. Had new wiper motor replaced at dealership due to failure. No symptoms or warning prior to the failure.
Backup camera was hard to see with, when backing up I could not detect obstacles. I replaced the backup camera with a new part at my cost of about $100 which I have a receipt for.
Ford issued NHTSA recall 22v142 for my 2021 F-150 truck. The windshield wiper motors were known to fail. I was told by the Ford customer service representative on cas-51684816 that Ford has not replaced this part with a new one, and the faulty motors are still being installed. My wiper motor was "replaced" under warranty on 5/18/2023 with 39,836 miles. The "new" motor then failed on 9/24/2024 at 69,600 miles, so the wiper motor only worked for a little over a year and 30,000 miles. The wiper motor also failed during a thunderstorm, and I had to pull over to the side of the road. My truck was then hailed on later while parked waiting for the storm to pass by. The Ford dealership charged me $382. 01 for the "replacement" motor. Either the replacement part was defective, or the part was not replaced at all, and it was just listed on the paperwork.
The contact owns a 2024 Ford F-150. The contact stated while operating the vehicle, water from the windshield wiper reservoir had leaked into the engine compartment and onto the engine and electrical components inside the engine compartment. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 20.

My vehicle had a wiper motor recall that came out when I bought it. I had to wait 2 years for parts and I had it done in may of this year. Vehicle harldy sees any rain so the wipers have only been used a few times since then. Well today I was driving and it started to rain and the wipers wouldn't turn on. What's the point of a recall if they are just going to install more defective parts. Sad part is the original wiper motor worked with no problems. Also this engine has cylinder deactivation on it and is operating when it isn't suppose to. So if I'm accelerating from a dead stop it turns on cylinder deactivation and I loose power and acceleration. The Ford dealers and Ford customer service people don't care I have an unsafe vehicle.
Western NY, driving on interstate 86 during a heavy rain, windshield wipers failed. They initially quit working making visibility impossible. Crawled to rest area on shoulder of highway with flashers going. Planned on spending night in truck until daybreak. Eventually rain lightened up, turned truck and wipers on once again. At first, they twitched every few seconds. Eventually, they wiped one cycle, very, very slowly every 5+ seconds. Occasionally starting and stopping.
Vehicle will randomly lose airflow from any vents, including defroster vent after travelling for a while with ac on. If window happens to fog up while driving there is no way to blow air across it, brought to dealer a week after purchase with 4k miles on it, and they supposedly did a software fix on a evaporater temperature sensor to stop the ac line from freezing, and restoring airflow. Worked for a couple of months but now the airflow is randomly stopping from the vents. After vehicle sits the problem goes away and can't be readily duplicated for dealer to fix, but obviously something is happening. Will bring back to dealer and see what they say.
Wipers failed during rain storm. Wipers initially started to operate sporadically and then stopped. Later they worked fine. Wipers then started to fail to operate every morning but if switch left on would randomly start working. Vehicle was taken in for service vice but was told the issue could not be duplicated. As weather reached freezing temperatures wipers quit working completely. Replaced wiper motor myself and issue was fixed. Found out after replacing the motor had been previously replaced as part of a safety recall in April 2023.
The air conditioner/heater has intermittently. Sometimes that air will blow cold but then becomes warm and sometimes the defroster takes more time than usual to warm up. The ac fans will come on high and continuously run if the ac is on. This hasn't worked properly since I purchased this used truck with a warranty from a Ford dealership. I have had it to the dealership on 2 occasions and no codes existed and they could not replicate the issue. This issue affects the ability to defrost and/or defog the windshield. During driving when the windshield gets clogged up because of the weather conditions it becomes hazardous to my passengers and myself. Ford because there were no errors codes or lights and they could not reproduce the issue returned the vehicle unfixed. I have had the vehicle to 2 repair shops and both indicated this is a known issue by Ford and they have issued a technical service bulletin #22-2089 on 9 March 2022 acknowledging this issue but has failed to correct this issue.
The defroster does not blow. There is an issue with the actuator and although the air can be heard blowing, the air is restricted at the firewall. Per the dealership, it is a known issue. I can't drive my truck in winter because it won't defrost. I live in fargo, nd.

About a year ago there was a wiper motor recall, bought jt in for that. Last few months wipers get “stuck” mid wipe for a few seconds and then rectify. Today wipers got stuck mid wipe indefinitely. I hit the button a few times and they completed the wipe. Annoying for a 2 year old vehicle , perhaps a problem with the recall replacement motors?.
The vents stop pushing air, regardless of setting, so windshield defroster does not work to clear the windshield of fog. Happens while driving and no adjustments to climate control change airflow unless I turn the car off and back on. Occurs infrequently and without clear cause. Dealership failed to reproduce the problem when I took it in.
This afternoon while getting ready to leave church, I pulled my truck forward about 10 feet with no issues in order to load some things in the truck bed before taking off. The truck started up just fine, and the starter sounded just as strong as it always does, indicating the battery was of good health. Upon starting the vehicle less than 5 minutes later the engine would not start due to a dead battery - or so that's what the symptoms led me to believe anyway. I heard some clicks, but no starter motor activity, then saw a warning on my radio screen stating "turn ignition off or start engine. " this could have been at a stoplight, leaving me as a stalled vehicle in the middle of the road had it happened in conjunction with the auto start/stop that shuts off the engine when stopped for a short period of time. I have not yet taken the truck into a dealership to have this issue looked at. This appears to be a resurfacing problem from about 2 years ago when I had electrical issues where my radio would not turn off as I got to work one morning - even though the ignition had been turned off and the driver door was open. The radio was still running when I got back to the truck in the afternoon. I was able to drive home that day, but with limited functionality of the truck. It was during a heavy rain, and the rear brake lights would not work, and the windshield wipers would not turn on. When I went down the next morning to take it into the dealership, I had to get it jump started, as the battery had died from the radio running all night long. When I got it jump started, the truck acted normally again, and I took it into the dealership and explained all of this, but they turned me away, as they told me there was nothing they could do to fix the problem if the symptoms had disappeared. There were no warnings before either of these episodes. This appears to be an electrical system failure. This problem has not been reproduced. The vehicle has not been inspected by a professional.
I am writing to bring to your attention a critical safety issue affecting my 2021 Ford F-150, caused by a recent sync software update. On or around August 2024, Ford issued a software update that has resulted in significant malfunctions in multiple vehicle systems, including intermittent freezing and non-responsiveness shortly after vehicle startup. These issues persist for several minutes, severely impairing safety features—most notably the federally mandated backup camera that all vehicles sold after 2018 are required to have for driver and pedestrian safety. Following Ford's issuance of a recall number, I scheduled a service appointment with my local dealership and was later informed that Ford's specified service procedures would incur additional charges since my vehicle is now out of warranty. Ford has indicated that rolling back to a previous software version is not an option, as only Ford has access to the software. The company further requires an official diagnostic assessment at an estimated cost of $500 to $1,000 to even consider covering part of the repair costs. This approach is unreasonable, given that the malfunction originates from Ford’s own software update and directly impacts the safe operation of the vehicle. This is especially concerning as it compromises the backup camera and other critical driver-alert systems, which could lead to severe injury or even fatalities if the issue remains unaddressed. This issue is not isolated; a significant number of Ford F-150 owners are reporting similar problems on public forums, where Ford has acknowledged the software defect but has not offered a resolution without additional financial burden on affected customers. Given the safety risks posed by the non-functional backup camera and the importance of fully operational driver alert systems, I urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter. Ford’s reluctance to address this defect without cost to owners directly undermines the federally mandated safety standards that.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 55 mph in the rain, the windshield wipers became inoperable. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to pull over safely. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who provided the contact with a diagnostic test fee, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
The windshield wipers will sometimes go off when they are not on.
When operating the turn signal and using the wipers on delay, I smelled a plastic like burning smell thinking it was the wiring in the controller arm. This happened several times and eventually the wiper runs 100% on the time delay with no way to turn off except by pulling the fuse. I can operate the normal speeds of the wipers when it rains if needed but I still get a smell sometimes. I have not had the issue looked at but will next week at an independent repair shop. I'm concerned maybe an electrical issue could cause a fire at some point in time.
After driving for approximately 2 hours, a/c stopped blowing out of vents. Even adjusting the fan speed up & lowering temp, vents did not blow air. However, I could hear air blowing within console. During this time, defrost of windshield did not work. I turned off system for approximately 30 minutes and then system began working. This same situation has happened 2previous times.
Rear window exploded, photos available. Possibly safety issue if adults or small children were in the back seat. Unknown. Has been inspected by auto glass repair shop. No warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms prior to the failure.
The 2018 Ford f150 is notorious for the connection for the rear defroster on the rear window to fall off. There is no real good way to repair this. This leaves it impossible to clear the rear window from snow and ice. This causes extreme visibility issues when attempting to back up and see what is behind you.
