Six problems related to automatic transmission column shift have been reported for the 1999 Ford F-250. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving 65 mph transfer case dropped out, broke the casing. Dealer replaced part.
While driving vehicle could be in four wheel drive. When the vaccum fails or the seal do not hold the vaccum, the system failes. The seals in the left and right, inner and outer hubs.
Somtimes when shifting from two wheel drive to four wheel drive four wheel drive dose not engage. When driving on wet pavment it kicks out of four wheel drive on its own. Dealer has been contacted. Sometimes, the habs do not lock. The o-rings was repaired for times.
Accumulation of rocks in the gear housing under vehicle causes gear shift not to properly shift into park. Dealer notified.
Gem module replaced 6 times, first day consumer took delivery of vehicle. 4 wheel drive function came on on it's own, would not disengage until vehicle came to a complete stop. Will not come on when consumer needs it to come on.
When going down hill a part within the transfer case wore out, causing the vehicle to go into neutral, allowing the vehicle pick up speed and run away.
