4 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2016

I was heading back to college in brookings sd, when I was stopped waiting for a train to pass. After the train passes I put it from park into drive and right when I started moving I hear a loud pop. After I drive another block to a gas station to look under the hood I came to the conclusion that I had blown a spark plug. And it took out the ignition coil with it and striped the threads on the head. Along with that there was gas everywhere on the drivers side of the engine block. That's not only sucks because I had to pay to get it fixed, I'm in college I don't have money to pay for this. But if that gas would have hit I spark my truck could have blown up. Please take responsibility for ur mistakes Ford.

5 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/26/2016

This is my 2nd replacement of a throttle position sensor. Very expensive repair! $500-600 (basically a new pedal assembly. ) what is disturbingly unsafe is the driver will lose all throttle response anytime and unknowingly random timing. Could be on the freeway (with traffic on your butt! could be at a light turning left! could be crossing a intersection or railroad crossing that you were stopped at! it is very unnerving to step on the pedal and have no response when your very own safety is at stake! I feel Ford is hiding this issue for decades and gouging the consumer multiple times! please help me right this wrong. I notice a lot of posting on others having this issue for years!!! why is Toyota held accountible for such minor issues like a floor mat hold down point and an american manufacturer can tell you "sorry"there is no recall or free repair for such important function of a vehicle??? I pray that no one is killed and forces a huge lawsuit. . Because Ford won't recover from the claims! again ,,I want you to think about this the next time you have your family in the car and you are in the position to safely move when your foot moves the gas pedal and nothing happens! this is bs,, the cover ups need to stop!.

6 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2016

Spark plug numbers 2 and 7 blew out of the cylinder head. Number 2 blew out while driving down the highway and number 7 blew out starting off at a green light on a main street. There was a strong odor of gas when this occurred and serious vibration from the engine misfiring. This created a potential explosion hazard since the air/fuel mixture is designed to ignite from an ignition source. This jeopardized my safety as well as the safety of others around my vehicle. This is a known problem to Ford and needs to be addressed for all vehicles manufactured that are affected by this problem. Mileage has nothing to do with this as owners of these specific vehicles with aluminum heads have had this issue at less than 100,000 miles.

9 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2014

I was driving down interstate 75 and suddenly I lost power and had a extremely loud piping noise coming from under the hood . I stopped immediately and checked under the hood I could not tell with the engine off so I restarted it and inspected it and found that my number 2 spark plug had blown out of the cylinder head after buying a new coil pack and spark plug set I discovered that all the threads had blown out of the head with the spark plug and after changing one of the other spark plugs I found that it was barely holding in . I think that the heads design was poor and weak and is s safety hazard.

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2014

A major loss of power while towing a load. The loss was significant enough the first time that the truck could not shift int higher gears. Could only manage 55 mph max. When I arrived home, took it to my local dealer to have it repaired. They had it for 10 days and were unable to locate any problem. They reprogrammed it, again, and gave it back with a significant bill. The problem persists. The next time I used it to haul a load, it did it again, only this time I was attempting to pass. Could not complete pass and fortunately was able to get back in behind the vehicle I was trying to pass and avoid a head on collision. It's dangerous! the problem is subtly worsening. Since that last episode I did some research of my own, besides contacting Ford corporate direct numerous times and the dealer, I discovered there is a history of all sorts of trouble with their v 10. I discovered last night that many others have experienced what I am attempting to correct, all with the same results, no repair. All Ford would do is to continue telling me over and over to just go to my dealer as they know all. They do not! I am still in contact with my dealer regarding this problem with no options available. I am about to replace a few parts myself in an attempt to correct it myself. Per my research, it became very apparent that Ford's computer for engine operation and diagnosis is flawed as there were never any number indications revealed to indicate the source of the problems, per numerous others as well as myself. It is now obvious that Ford is well aware of this problem but is covering it up instead of addressing it. This problem also appears to be happening to vehicles much newer than mine. This vehicle is dangerous when under load. There may already have been accidents caused by this chronic problem, I do not know. But I do know that this vehicle is a disaster waiting to happen.

11 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2014

(1999 Fords super duty extended cab 4x4 with 5. 4) driving home from work on the freeway and bang so pulled over to discover a blown spark plug and broken coil, had car towed home for $200 and taking it in to have automotive shop fix the blown-out spark plug and check all other plugs , wires, coils, estimated around $560 plus parts. The second blown-out spark plug happened 47 days later and had to tow it again now just sitting in the driveway. Can't afford to have it fixed. Ford should have recalled this design defect on the heads. I have read thousands of articles that this has happened too. Been a real expensive for someone that doe not have money for these kind of repairs and Ford just does not care, they would rather you take itto there shop and charge you $2,000 or more to have it fixed. Bs. I have a 1972 ranchero also and I'm so pissed off I'm thinking of selling all my Fords and buy a mopar. I tell everyone about this defect.

17 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2009

I have a 1999 Ford f250 super duty 4x4 with the triton v10 and I just blew my 3rd spark plug in less than a year. The first cylinder to blow was the 2nd, followed 6 months later by the 3rd and then one month later the 4th blew out. This is absolutely ridiculous and Ford doesn't even want to hear any complaints about this issue. I know that there are thousands of other people complaining about this issue and no one can get anything resolved. This is an extremely expensive repair ranging from $2000. 00 to $5000. 00 to get it repaired. Issue is not covered under the warranty.

18 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2009

I have 99 Ford F-250 super duty with the 5. 4 I had the third spark plug on the passenger blow out on me. The truck only has 140,000 miles on it was regularly serviced. What happened was I picked up my daughter from the baby sitter and when I got her in the truck I started it and ejected the plug out of the head the engine wasn't under ant type of load it just ejected the plug I called the Ford dealer they said it was not there fault it was serviced some time before it ejected the plug we had to retap and put a steel insert into the head which I was not happy with because I did not because the problem and Ford should fix this problem I would not have bought the truck if I new the 5. 4 had this type of problem in the beginning. I think should recall and fix there problems instead of hiding from them they should at least but you now as well as I do that will never happen so I just wanted to lodge a complaint with you guys so I could feel better about doing my part to help!.

1. I was exiting the expressway at 35-40 mph and heard a loud bang and my 1999 Ford f250 super duty with a v10 triton engine went bang bang bang and I was barely able to make it to a safe location. 2. The 4th spark plug ejected and broke the coil. The spark plug was sitting on top of the engine. This happened previously with the #3 spark plug and was repaired by a professional with a steel insert. This is the second time this truck has spit a plug out of the cylinder head. 3. I had the vehicle towed home and am saving for repairs. Still haven't got the truck going as of August 2009.

Hello, I had the spark plug blow out of my 1999 f250 6. 8l engine. I believe this to be a defect in design and a safety matter seeing how it could easily start a fire and believe there should be a recall from Ford to fix this problem.

24 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2008

Have been driving my vehicle without problems, for over 160,000 miles. Today I drove approx. 10 miles from home and shut off my vehicle. When I returned to my truck, (5 minutes) upon starting it, there was a pop, followed by a loud, rhythmic, compression release type noise! upon examining the engine, I discovered the problem to be "spark plug blowout". This truck has not been mechanically touched for a long period of time, and had "no known issues, prior to this event. (other than a factory recall for a fire hazard in the cruise control system) its hard for me to understand, why the engine head would suffer this kind of failure, and pose a safety threat? it would appear that this may be a common failure, in their design. Please let me know, if there are any recalls pending. This is a triton v-10 motor.

25 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2008

I currently own a 1999 Ford f250 super duty pickup with the v10 engine in it. I have had a spark plug come out of the head before and it was one of the original factory spark plugs at that time. At that time Ford would not fix the problem without charging me for the repair stating that the vehicle was out of warranty. I took my pickup to the local mechanic who put in a spark plug insert and charged me $250. 00. I was more than ok with the repair and I thanked him for his trouble. Last night I was coming home with my pickup when it blew out the same plug. This time I believe it will cost me thousands of dollars to repair this vehicle and I don't see why a company like Ford won't face up to their mistake of poor engineering and fix the problem. I paid $20,000. 00 for this truck used. It had 60,000 miles on it when I bought it. It now has 150,000 miles on it and it gets pampered all the time. I am real disappointed that I can't rely on a vehicle that I should get at least 200,000 miles out of. I am 46 years old and I have never heard of spark plugs popping out of a stock engine anytime before in my life until I ran into this issue with my truck. Thank you for letting me vent!!!!! dwayne heckman.

26 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2008

On my way to work, I had just exited the express way, when I heard a loud (bang) that was followed by a loud constant sound. I had been told about this problem with the F-250 super duty with the 5. 4 v-8 engine so I knew what had happened. I ended up having to drive my truck 35 miles home because I had no other way home. This problem is so common that my local auto parts supplier carries a repair kit on the shelf in the small town of dundee mich. The repair kit came complete with the correct tap, repair coil, insertion tool and spark plug. I also had to replace the ignition coil because it was blown into small pieces. The truck ran fine at first but now it has almost no power.
