The belt in the tire separated while driving. This caused a "bubble" to form causing my truck to shake violently and required changing to the spare tire. If this happened on the highway I could have lost control and caused an accident. I took my truck to a tire installer who documented the above finding and noted the tire was properly inflated and there were no impact marks on the tread or sidewalls. I am currently working with the supplier but they are being unreasonable with the requirements to have it inspected. No other reps have been contacted at this time. No ( its a 24 year old truck, I don't have any tire related warning lamps) lt235/85 r16.
Traveling southbound on florida turnpike towing 5th wheel trailer, right lane, 65mph, 80psi tire pressure checked before departure. Had traveled approx 50 miles when tread partially separated from right front tire. No loss of tire pressure, which allowed safely steering off highway. Tread remaining on tire did extensive damage to rf fender and custom fiberglas running board/ wheel flare. Fender bottom pushed back and damaged rf door. Second tread failure from same set of tires in four months. Already a recall on same model, other size tires we found online today.
Uniroyal liberator lt265/75-16 load e tread separated causing damage to right rear bed of truck. Truck bed was damaged as well as tailpipe, mud flap ripped off, bracing torn off, brake shield bent.
Tread separation experienced while vehicle was being driven on highway.
I filed a claim with michelin north America, inc (michelin), that was denied, for damages in excess of $3,000. 00 incurred by my personal vehicle resulting from the complete tread detachment of a uniroyal laredo tire (dot# bfw8feuu4107), after 13,586 miles. Detachment occurred at highway speed (65mph) with proper inflation pressure, checked prior to beginning of travel. Prior to complete tread detachment, the subject tire was repaired for damage incurred by a common road hazard (I. E. , a nail puncture). This, the tire?s only, repair was performed by a reputable service center in accordance with guidelines set by us department of transportation. Michelin does not call into question tire repair as the causal factor. Rather, michelin asserts that their inspection of the tire indicates tread detachment resulted from tire damage caused by the puncture. And, ?evidence of this is found when tracing the steel cord path from the puncture/repair to the initial detached area?. Michelin feels they are not responsible for any damages. I challenge michelin?s denial based on (1) michelin?s admission that the ?initial detached area? occurred at some distance from the repair/puncture; (2) michelin has a history of tire recalls pertaining to defects and potential tread detachment of similar tires; and (3) the subject tire was manufactured during a period bounded by two laredo tire recalls, due to the potential for tread detachment: ?September 2004, uniroyal voluntary recall of 46,000 tires due to possible tread/belt detachment. ?July 2012, national highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA #12t-019) recall of approximately 800,000 uniroyal tires, due to possible tread belt separation. Further, a modicum of research clearly indicates that insufficient tire bonding and other manufacturer defects are the most frequent cause of tread detachment. Therefore, I would suspect complete tread detachment would result from a preexisting tire defect, rather than a nail puncture.

The vehicle failure mileage was 137,000. The tire failure mileage was unknown. The dot number was unavailable.
The rear tires on my pick up truck failed - the tread separated - while I was operating on a route 81 in va. The tires failed within 100 miles of each other and they both failed the same way. I was towing a trailer, but all loads were well below the maximum capacity ratings. The first tire also ruptured/deflated. The other tire did not deflate - only lost the tread. The tread wound around the axle damaging the parking brake cable. Both wheel wells and rear fenders were damaged.

Consumer states vehicle is experiencing excessive vibration on front end of truck while driving. Consumer states vibration is so bad it feels as if may lose control of vehicle. Truck checked by dealer who installed a front stabilizer kit. Repair only worked temporarily, vibration has started again. *jbthe latest vibration was caused by a faulty tire. The tire was replaced and the vibration has ceased. Consumer seeks reimbursement from Ford.
Violent shudder at 65 mph on highway. Continued shaking till speed decreased to around 50 mph. The extreme twisting and tire bouncing made control almost impossible, fortunately, I have a class a cdl and was able t stop the truck safely . Ford dealer has truck and can find nothining wrong with my truck itself. (dot number: 1231200/s tiresize: lt26575r16).
The first failure occurred on the freeway. The tread came off and the tire was completely destroyed. I took it to firestone to replace the tire--there was no recall at the time. The second time, 2 weeks ago, the tire tread whipped around inside the wheel well and wrecked my fender and running board. I almost got run off the road and came close to a major accident. I then purchased 4 new michelin tires for safety sake. I called firestone and their "customer service " said they wouldn't do anything about this as these tires aren't under recall!! please do something about these tires---people will get hurt and/or killed with them!!!!! thank you. P. S. After reviewing this, we typed 0 people were injured or killed, but your system puts in a number???? (tiresize: lt26575r16).

Purchased new tires on 3/16/2001. On 4/23/2001 found hole on outerwall of tire. Dealer would not replace due to the fact that we had not purchased road hazard warranty. He attributed the damage to that. Purchased at tom frost firestone in warrenton, va. (tiresize: 265/75r16e).

We first noticed that the right rear tire had a crater like crack between one tread. The crack was about 3" long. We then inspected the rest of the tire. We found smaller cracks all around the tire and inbetween other treads. We inspected the other tires and found that all the tires had small cracks inbetween the treads, they were not as big as the left rear, but they were all around the tires. The cracks in the other 3 tires randged from about 1/8" to 1/2" in length. We contacted our Ford dealer and they said they could not do anything because this was not on the recall list. We then contacted a firestone dealer in our area and brought the truck in for inspection. They said the tires showed that there was a problem. They replaced all four tires with the same tires. We exspessed our concerns about replacing the tires with the same ones. They said that they have not had any reports of problems with this tire type. We would like to be notified if there will be a recall on this tire. I do not feel that we are driving on a safe tires with all these problems being reported with firestone. We have already had problems with this perticular tire brand and now have replaced them with the exact same brand. If I had an extra $700 to $800 to spend I would not have replaced them with this brand. The firestone dealer said that there has never been a problem with this tire type and brand and that there will never be. Being replace for free seemed to be an okay deal at the time, but now I am questioning that decision. If you can help at all, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, brian barto and family. (dot number: ? tiresize: 265/75/16).

An employee told me my tires were wearing around 5000 mile on the truck but I ignored his comments. Around 20k miles I developed a vibration and thought it to be an alignment problem. It progressively got worse and I had tires ck'ed at 38900 and was told at toms tires the tires were junk. I contacted my Ford dealer and was told the warranty didn't cover tires but to go to firestone to possibly get an adjustment. The firestone rep ck'ed tires and also said they were bad. Their price for the same tire was $380 and $200 less than toms tires price for a similiar tire. I found this to be odd. The following day after firestone ck'ed tires, the article about firestones defective tires came out. I notified my dealer but was informed my tires are not in the recall. I also notified Ford today. ( dot number: tire size: lt26575r16 ).
All 5 tires on this vehicle are badly cracked goodyear rep said tires made 1988 how can this be allowed . Tires are 11 years old on this truck and I am the origanl owner. I complained about the first tire at 30 miles when a chunk was missing out of it the day I took delivery of the truck. The whole dot code is as follows mdor rtov 088. That is for just one tire they all look as bad as can be. I am getting ready to have to go purchase new tires, and if anyone asks this vehicle has not been abused or even off the pavement. I use it to pull my 5th wheel trailer. Please let me know what happens, I dont want anyone hurt because there vehicle might have the same age tires on it. (dot number: mdor tiresize: lt23585r16).

Pe00040; orginal equipment on 1999, Ford f250, tire size 16 inch. In rain or snow weather cannot hold on the road which causes vehicle to slide everywhere. This may cause a crash. The customer replaced the tire with different brand.
Tire leaked air, cracks in side walls. Firestone dealer would not adjust. Do not know if other tires are cracked also. A new tire should not have that problem! (tiresize: 265/75r16)( dot number: tire size: 265/75r16 ).
Pe00020; tire tread separation: while driving about 75 mph, about 90% of the tread on the driver's front side tire came off. Driver was able to control vehicle. 1999, Ford, f250. The door lock nob on inside of door broke, the brake pad rubber on the pedal I had to replace the new one was worn out the brake pads on the front started squeaking at about 22000 miles the motor uses about one half quart of oil at each oil change and I take it to the dealer( dot number: ? tire size: lt235/85r1 ).
Tread blocks along out edge separating. Dt.
I would not have considered contact had not the other firestone tires shown a problem. My vehicle came with the firestone steeltex r4s tires. I changed them after about 18000 miles because they were so scary on wet pavement or snow. Since then I have been told firestone used too hard a compound in order to get extra mileage. I have spoken with my Ford agency and noticed the model type for that tire is no longer the r4s. No damage or injury resulted although several amusement park rides resulted, each occuring with different drivers.
