Failure Date: 05/01/2011

I observe the voluntary recall issues by goodyear (NHTSA 12t0030000) and since I own a 4 wheel set of those tires on my Ford F-250 super duty, I noticed that my size wasn't listed. I have had trouble with my set of silent armor tires in that they can not be balanced as they should be and very pronounced cracks have appeared on the side walls close to the tread line. I limit my speed to no more than 50mph. My tires were purchased in September, 2009 and if I could crawl under my truck in search of the production dates, I'm sure they would be in or close to the listed production dates. The problem appears to be with the silent armor production technology and should not be recalled in such a narrow date range or size range. Please expand the recall to all sizes and a broader production date range.

Driving down a two lane highway, when we felt a bad vibration in the truck, was slowing down when the truck made a loud noise and veered sharply to the oncoming traffics lane. We got the truck under control and pulled off at the first available place. The tire did not lose any air but it did lose all of its rubber like it was a retread tire. We were very lucky that we were not towing horses at the time and that there was no oncoming traffic right at that moment.

Complaint #727191 indicates the same pattern of failure as well as the same dot #. Ford dealer blows me off and no word from firestone yet. I'm replacing my tires tommorrow(05/31/01 and they won't be firestone!). I strongly urge anyone with a Ford super-duty and firestone steeltex tires to replace the tires immediately. After reading the complaints summaries on this site, I'm convinced these tires are as dangerous and probably more prone to failure than the infamous wilderness tires. (dot number: 008061 tiresize: 265/75/r16).

20 Tire problem

Failure Date: 09/18/2000

Tires originally began bouncing at 18000 miles--have had to shave tires to keep form bouncing-I was complaining about the tires before the recall but firestone was deaf and said the shaving voided my warranty--but they would not do anything-I explained I was scared of these tires--then the recall came and I began trying to get help--went to riverside Ford after they became involved and contacted firestone again and was assured my tires were fine after going to the Ford service center in macon GA. Now I have had a blow out on the right front tire on the interstate at 77mph crossed two lanes of traffic and ran a car off the road on to the grass to avoid me hitting him. Have contacted firestone and threatened with a law suit and was told to get in line and good luck by one of the phone reps. Riverside Ford says if it is not in the recall they can't and won't don anything--please recall this tire before a child loses his life. Thanks. (tiresize: lt265xr16)( dot number: tire size: lt265xr16 ).

I was traveling home from work ,when I felt a slight vibration in my drivers side front tire, not 3seconds later the tire exploded . I was able to mantain control of the truck and pull onto the center median of the interstate , when I got out to see what happened the tire had completely blown off the rim . I called for roadside assistance because I could not change the tire . After the spare was put I drove to the Ford dealership I had purchased the truck from , I was told that the tire was not waranteed by Ford but by firestone , I then contacted firestone to be told that I must have run something over or hit a curb and that they would not warantee the tire , or the damage done to my rim ,front end and the dent caused by the explosion . Consumer states that while traveling at 55 mph rear passenger tire exploded from the inside out. Cause unknown.

25 Tire problem

I took my truck to big o tires in sonora for the first tire rotation at 11,600 miles. The serviceperson told me I had "scalping" damage to my tires. I have never had a heavy load nor have I towed anything. I keep the proper tire pressure in the tires and check the pressure regularly. I feel the firestone steeltex radial a/t tires may have a defective problem resulting in the damage. I also have factory installed heavy duty shocks which came with a towing package I ordered with the truck. (tiresize: lt23585r16)( dot number: tire size: lt23585r16 ).

26 Tire problem
