39 problems related to diesel engine have been reported for the 2004 Ford F-250. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Within two months of driving,experienced engine bogging, stalling, and grinding noises, unpredictable occurrences. Now problems are accompanied by a sweet smelling chemical odor that fills interior of truck cab. Lemon law state arbitration initiated after dealer's multiple attempts to repair have failed.
The vehicle would run for a while and then stall. The dealer has serviced the vehicle numerous times. The sensors have been changed but the problem continued.
The contact states while trying to accelerate the turbo on the vehicle will not allow the vehicle to move; it will creep forward but will not accelerate. Also, if you are pulling weight with the vehicle it will actually move backwards. This problem occurs on a daily basis. The dealership has replaced the turbo and this will correct the problem for about a month and then the problem will reoccur. They are unable to come up with a remedy to correct this defect. The service manager explained to him the only repair is to continue to replace the turbo.
