Three problems related to service brakes have been reported for the 2004 Ford F-250. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Driving in town and when I got out of the truck I noticed brake fluid on the ground. Examining the brakes I saw that the brake caliber was leaking.
The parking brakes were never very effective and despite being repaired several nothing has been able to improve them. The truck has a manual transmission and disc rear brakes. It is dangerous to park it on a hill even if its left in gear.
Rear brake backing plates rusted out. Quick search on the internet revealed that this is a common problem on 2000-2008 Ford trucks. Parking brake components are mounted to backing plate. Loss of parking brakes and possible damage to rear abs if the parking brake components separate from mounts.
