Failure Date: 07/07/2011

2005 f250 diesel. Transmission would shift onto reverse but would back up. Took it to Ford they told me reverse snap ring broke and cracked transmission case. 3900 to fix. Ford has a recall on snow plow packages but mine is not just has the exact same transmission.

2 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2011

2005 Ford f250 sd had cracked transmission becuase of low/reverse snap ring failure in the 5r110 torqshift transmission. Ford issued a customer satisfaction program 05b27 but put an expiration date on it. The program was not ever for a whole year. Ford is not willing to reimburse or issue a recall when they know this is a problem. The snap ring failed inside and busted my transmission. Alot of people have experienced this problem and there needs to be a recall on this transmission.

3 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 09/21/2009

2005 Ford F-250 transmission circlip is coming off causing transmission to leak and ultimately fail. We know of 6 people that this has happened to, now us. Ford had a "customer satisfaction bulletin 05b27" that expired at the end of 2006. We found this on our own. Ford is absolutely no help with this issue. Please read the diesel forms on the internet.

4 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2008

Cracked transmission case, took into Ford dealer for repair, truck is under extended service agreement from dealer we bought it from, with a $100 deductible. Extended service CO would send out inspector, he inspected it and said ok to fix, the next day he said we would have to pay $600. We finely paid $371. 36. He said the dealer we bought the truck from would not honor the $100 deductible.

5 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2008

While towing our horse trailer the engine stopped running. It was towed to dealer and the engine problem was repaired under Ford warranty. They told me there was a problem with the transmission. The mechanic said this is a common failure and I should write in. As I understand it, there is a snap ring located in the transmission, for some unknown reason, this snap ring pops off , is then sucked between the top of the transmission case and a gear, which causes the transmission case to crack. The mechanic said the case is cracked on the top. He has seen many of these failures. Because I didn't buy the extended warranty, this repair will cost approx $4,500. 00. This truck has low mileage (41900 mi). I have been told this has been a common problem of Ford trucks from 2002 - 2005.

6 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 12/24/2006

The contact owns a 2005 Ford f250 super duty. The contact stated that his transmission was cracked. While driving 60 mph over a bump, the steering wheel moved from the front to the back as well as to the left and right excessively. The driver is forced to decelerate to 30 mph to control the vehicle. The dealer rotated the tires and adjusted the inflation pressure to correct the malfunction. The contact has to replace the transmission himself since the manufacturer will not pay the repair cost. The failure mileage was 29,000.

7 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2004
