Four problems related to engine exhaust system have been reported for the 2006 Ford F-250. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at 3 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed but it failed to respond. In addition, the contact noticed smoke coming from the exhaust pipe. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician stated that the oil cooler, the exhaust back pressure sensor, the turbo and the egr valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 160,000.
Upon acceleration, from stop at a red light, vehicle hesitated (stalled) to accelerate. Upon acceleration, after several seconds, thick cloud of black smoke appeared from exhaust pipe, and white smoke discharged from engine oil (fill) tube. Vehicle continued with described problem(s) for the rest of the trip, which was approximately ten (10) minutes, and has continued with described performance problems for many days since. This problem arose after spending over $2000 to have similar engine problems fixed, at Ford authorized dealership. Upon contacting Ford motor company, directly (for financial assistance on fixing the problem for the second time), I was informed that there would be no such assistance granted. Period.
2006 Ford f250 super duty, diesel, 6. 0 l, 4x4, crew cab, short bed: total loss of throttle response while driving. The engine runs, but the truck completely stops and will not move when the accelerator is pressed. There is no advance warning. It just stops moving right where it is. This has happened five times now within two months and 2500 miles driving. The egr valve has been replaced several times or cleaned the other times, but the vehicle is unsafe on the road because it stops suddenly right in the middle of the traffic lane.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford F-250 sd. The contact stated that while traveling approximately 65 mph, smoke emitted from the exhaust pipe and there was a sudden loss of acceleration power. The vehicle was moved to the shoulder and towed to the dealer where it was determined that the fuel injectors and turbo had failed. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
