Automatic Transmission Column Shift problems of the 1999 Ford F-350

Four problems related to automatic transmission column shift have been reported for the 1999 Ford F-350. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Automatic Transmission Column Shift problem

Failure Date: 12/31/2001

Transfer case shifting fork wore out. Truck had only been in four wheel drive about a dozen times all in snow conditions on major hiways. No offroading at all. Had to replace the shifting fork, a planetary gear an a imput shaft. This was the only way Ford would sell the repacement parts. Ford has made a design change on the shifting fork.

2 Automatic Transmission Column Shift problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2001

Four wheel drive will engage at any speed while making a turn or stopping. Dealership has examined vehicle three times, and cannot effectively remedy the problem. Please provide any additional information/attachments.

3 Automatic Transmission Column Shift problem

Failure Date: 12/11/2000

While driving on highway transfer case broke and vehicle was no longer able to run. There was no prior waring. Consumer has contacted dealer, and dealer said they couldn't do anything because vehicle is no longer under warranty.

4 Automatic Transmission Column Shift problem

While driving on the highway without manual operation vehicle will go into 4-wheel drive, cause unknown. Please give any further details.
