There has been intense rust and corrosion in the roof seams and welds. This has led to water leaks and damage to the interior of the vehicle. The integrity of the roof has been compromised, and I am concerned about the possibility of roof crush should there be an accident. Not to mention the mold, rot and damage to the interior and electrical systems I have already suffered due to the defect. On February 3, 2023, I contacted the Ford motors helpline and spoke to linda chikere (direct phone # 866 631 3788 ext 79781) to discuss the issue. Linda created a request for a buyback and assigned a case number of cas-41160178-b4n9r8. She also requested that I send photos to lchikere@Ford. Com and visit the local Ford dealership so they could assess the vehicle and share the information with her. I was able to make an apt for Feb 6,2023 @ 10:50 with grant lee @ envision Ford of oxnard. When I arrived for the assessment, grant did one walk around the vehicle (he did not inspect the roof at all) and then said he couldn’t help me as he this was a Ford issue, and they were a franchise. I contacted linda with follow up from that meeting, as well as photos of the vehicle. About two weeks after this apt. Linda said the case was closed. I am extremely disappointed with how this case was handled, especially considering the significant investment I made in purchasing and maintaining it my vehicle. When I made the original investment I was told that the engine would last up to a million miles…but never imagined the body would be worthless at the 300,00 mark. There is so much damage to the roof that I currently keep my vehicle parked instead of using it.
Headlights go off and on when I move the tilt steering wheel, when driving or sitting still.
The digital compass and temperature display in the upper console breaks. I rely on the display to prevent from crashing on icy roads. I have looked and thousands of people have same issues, a wire coming loose. Ford needs to recall this instead of charging up to 400. 00 for the replacement part. It almost got me killed, im surprised no one has been injured.
On my way to work the turn signals failed and hazzzard lights no break lites or turn singnals the fuse panel was smoking and coused a wreck at 60 miles per hour.
Vsm has failed this controls the door ajar and power locks. Power locks fail to function or are hyper active (locking and unlocking by themselves). Door ajar light flashing and emitting a sound indication a vehicle's door is not secure while driving after vehicle has warmed up.
On may 13, 2014, a recall letter was received from Ford. Ref. No. 09s09-speed control deactivation fire. I called sonora Ford to schedule an appointment to repair the risk. According to rick in the service department parts were on back order. He took my contact information and advised he would contact me in about a week when parts arrived. After no returned call I contacted both sonora Ford and Ford motor company customer relations center at 1-866-436-7332 & 1-800-392-3673. They advised parts were still 7 to 10 days out. Ford refused to have the switch removed or the circuit disconnected to prevent a fire until parts arrived when asked. With a known fire risk I am concerned more could be done by Ford to address this issue while parts are not available.
Fuse #48 will blow when engaging overdrive button on gear shift lever. With blown fuse vehicle will only idle, leaving vehicle powerless on highway. Occurs periodically, depending on usage of overdrive button. To date the source of problem causing the fuse to blow has not been located.
I have a 2002 f350 Ford truck, I was driving along when I heard this big pop noise with shaking I stop and smelled gas ,I shut it off open the hood and the motor was starting to catch on fire, needless to say the spark plug blew out hit the coil and fuel line which rupchured it and caused the fire. If this had been my wife or one of my kids driving it they might have been killed. I think Ford should step up and recall there problems that they no they have and fix them before sombody gets hurt or worse killed, this isn't right that they can get away with thisnowing what can happen, they said I caused it,how did I do that when hundreds if not thousands have had this same problem. I hope that you can do somthing about this before it's to late ! thanks they fixed it and it done it again.
Loss of the cps sensor on my 02 Ford f350. The sensor went out while I was traveling down i87. I was able to pull off the road but the failure left me stranded with no cell service in the middle of a northeaster on 4/16/07.
The vehicle is dependent upon a vehicle security module to open doors, show if doors are open or closed, automatically lock and unlock doors, turn on and off lights, etc. The unit installed in my vehicle has been replaced by another unit by Ford. Ford has not recalled this device. Many owners have reported and have had to replace these devices because of the problems with locks not working (open and close), headlights not working or turning off while driving, false safety indications being displayed, etc. I am now experiencing this problem and have to replace this module to stop these same issues in my vehicle. It is a thermal problem and only occurs whenever the vehicle is warmed during the day in the heat. It begins to work properly after the air conditioner cools the cab down or at night when the temperatures are cooler. The original part # is 2c7t-15k602-aj, the replacement part # is 4c7z-15604-ac. Every website blog that includes super duty trucks from 2002 have volumes of people with the same issue and Ford replacing the vsm. The fact that the part number has changed to a new rev and a high volume of owners are experiencing the same issue is proof of a faulty part.
Out of state on vacation. Shut vehicle off and then it wouldn't start. Called Ford warranty - only Ford dealer in area couldn't get it in until the following week. Talked to friend that is a diesel mechanic who advised that the cps always goes bad in 7. 3's and to replace it. Located one at napa for $190. 00 - borrowed tools and installed. Truck then started right up and has run fine since. Only 46,000 miles on truck!! took old cps to local Ford dealer along with bill and am attempting to recover expenses under warranty as the manual says it is covered. Local dealer wasn't very optimistic.
Cps sensor failed while driving on federal highway in washington. As I headed to work around 7:30 pm in the 2002 Ford f350 turbo diesel and while moving at a pace of 61-65 mph everything cut out: engine, brakes, etc. I had to move to the side of the road as quickly and carefully as possible to avoid being hit from behind. Once situated on the side of the road I tried to start the truck over and over again, and it started. Got going again at 61-65 mph and it happened again. It took 45 minutes to get the truck home , driving it in that fashion. I bought a new cps the next day from International for over $150. 00. I didn't know that I was able to report a problem of this importance until I found out that a lot of people have been having the same thing happen to them. . . Just found out how to file a complaint about 30 minutes ago. The dates that I have listed below were not very accurate because I have forgotten the exact time and date.
Consumer took vehicle to a dealership due to loss of power and unknown ticking noise from the engine. This had been a problem twice since the 3,000 mile checkup. Dealership cleaned the engine, and returned the vehicle. Dealership states noise was normal, and should not affect the engine's performance. Took vehicle back to dealer, and was told that the engine blew out. . Read more...
While coming to a stop accelerated to a high rate. Consumer managed to stop the vehicle. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. Dealer installed a flight recorder which was borrowed from another vehicle. With the flight recorder installed, consumer didn't experience any incident for 4 weeks. The dealer then called the consumer stating that the flight recorder had to be returned, and consumer's vehicle again malfunctioned 3 times.
