1 Suspension Noise problem of the 2012 Ford F-350

The contact owns a 2012 Ford F-350 sd. The contact stated that while traveling 50 mph, the vehicle traveled over a road bump and the front end shook violently. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to a local dealer for a diagnostic test. The dealer stated that the vehicle needed the upper ball joints replaced. The contact then took the vehicle to a local mechanic for a second opinion. The mechanic stated that the new track bar and steering damper needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 35,000. Updated 1/7/cn the consumer stated he took the vehicle to the dealer, because he was experiencing a violent shake in the steering and there was a noise coming from the steering linkage. The dealer explained to the consumer, the front suspension had been modified and the shake was due to a 2 inch lift, which had given the truck too much negative caster, and if he wanted it corrected, two new ball joints adjuster would need to be installed a t a cost of 4500. The consumer declined the repairs, as he did not believed that casters caused violent shakes. Updated 01/15/14.

2 Suspension Noise problem of the 2010 Ford F-350

Submission from constituent re issues with Ford F-350 truck (full document not imaged). The dealer had the consumers vehicle for 12 days. The vehicle was returned to him damaged. When he attempted to start the truck, there was metallic engine rattle. He shut the truck off and inspected the engine, but found no problem. As the consumer drove home, the truck stalled several times, the transmission would not shift properly and the steering wheel started to shake violently at 30 mph. The consumer also stated the head lights did not provide adequate lighting of the road, the seat belts did not retract properly; they would tightened as he was driving, which prevented him from moving, there cruise control did not engage properly, it was difficult to maneuver the steering wheel, the fuel gauge was not reading accurately, there were noises coming from the drive train, the emergency brake was inoperative, the vehicle severely pulled to the right, the engine lacked torque and power, the suspension was not adequate for the vehicle, every time he hit a pot hole or bump in the road, he would loose steering ability and the tires would start bouncing. It would take too long for the vehicle to take off, when the accelerator was applied, there was an instant shudder from the vehicle, when he applied the accelerator pedal.
