Death wobble experienced in 2023 at 64 k miles. Had to purchase stabilizer bar from dealer. Had another death wobble incident in April 2024. Dealer replaced same stabilizer bar again. This design is very dangerous empty but when pulling a bid horse trailer loaded with 3 horses could be catastrophic.

Truck has death wobble.
I was driving on the freeway today at approximately 70mph when I hit a slight bump. The front end began shaking violently forcing me to brake and slow to approximately 30mph before it stopped. I believe this type of incident is referred to as a "death wobble". Fortunately, I wasn't injured nor was anyone else and traffic was only moderately busy. I checked the front suspension and couldn't find any issues. The truck has 104,000 mi on it and is well maintained.

At differing speeds the truck experienced the "death wobble" causing the front end of the vehicle to shake uncontrollably. This happened 2 times before I had the tie rod ends replaced and several times afterward. You have to almost stop the vehicle to get the shaking to go away. It is a tremendous safety risk and could cause an accident due to the shaking or due to needing to slow almost to a stop - which could cause a rear end collision. This is a common problem with Ford f250 and f350 trucks. I had my mechanic inspect all the front end parts and he recommended replacing the tie rods and track bar. No warning lamps or other symptoms. The issue happened out of the blue.

While on a ramp to merge onto a highway, slightly downhill, a small ripple in the pavement joint caused the front wheels and steering wheel to shake violently and nearly lost control of the vehicle. Was traveling at approximately 40-50mph and could not steer the truck and the out of control shaking did not stop until I was able to slow to maybe 5-10mph. I was towing a trailer and if I had not been on a wide roadway late at night, going straight with little traffic around me, it's very likely I would have had a serious accident. The truck has 40,000 miles on it and tires etc are in good condition as this is a federal government owned and maintained vehicle. I see no recalls or service bulletins for the VIN, but found hundreds of complaints online of the exact situation and referred to as out of control "death wobble". This is a serious issue and people will very likely be in serious and fatal accidents if not already.

The front tie rod adjusting sleeve pulled apart from the tie rod end. The threads were stripped off so where you can just pull it off and on. It caused me to drive almost into a tree where I lost complete control of the truck. I did not hit any potholes or bumps that would have caused any damage. There is no way that these two parts should have came apart. This is a severe safety hazard. The tow truck driver said he saw the same thing the day before on another Ford truck so clearly this is becoming an issue. I only have 90,000 miles on my truck so there isn't a lot of wear and tear on it either. I have photos of the parts after the incident and I've taken it to my repair shop to get it fixed. He also said that this should have never have happened and its very strange that it did. I had no prior warning of it happening - no shaking, thumping, rattling. . . Nothing to tell me that there was an issue.
I own a 2019 Ford F-350 sd. While driving 60 mph and driving over a pothole, the vehicle started to shake uncontrollably and pulling the vehicle to the left. Luckily I was in the left lane and only went onto the berm, if I had been in the right lane I would have hit the vehicle beside me. I pulled over on the side of the road and once I got below 25 miles and hour the vehicle stopped shaking. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 28,400. When is Ford going to be forced to fix this known problem, when someone is killed?.
Death whoble.

Twice today, traveling at 75mph on highway I-35 (northbound and then several hours later southbound) just north of ardmore ok, I experienced a violent shaking of the steering wheel/front wheel shimmy. The vehicle was difficult to control due to the violent shaking that did not stop until the vehicle slowed to approximately 20mph. Once the shaking stopped the vehicle was okay to drive.

The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-350. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 24v957000 (fuel system, diesel); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact stated that while depressing the accelerator pedal after stopping, the vehicle was slow to respond. The contact stated that there was several minutes before the vehicle responded as needed. The contact stated that the failure occurred after coming to a full stop. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that while towing a loaded trailer, the vehicle was losing traction, and the rear end was swaying to the right and to the left. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that during the failure there were several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that 3 months after purchasing the vehicle, the vehicle experienced brakes failure. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that all four brake pads and calipers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that the failure recurred while depressing the brake pedal, with an abnormal metal-on-metal sound coming from the brakes. The contact stated that the brakes were independently slowing the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Extreame front-end vibration ("aka" death-wobble as described for other f250 and f350 pickups on google). Driving 60mph on 65mph limit highway. Small bump on road. Truck starts severe vibrations from the front end. No steering control. Slight drift into left lane. Another car in the lane left to me had to break to avoid me. Vibration would not stop until I applied brakes and the truck speed was 30mph. Both the loss of steering, and the necessary reduction in speed was extreamly dangerous. Upon searching the internet it appears this is a common problem with Ford f250 and f350 trucks that neither the NHTSA nor Ford has/is addressing.
Sevier uncontrollable shaking of the front wheels. I had to slow down to about 10 miles an hour on the freeway, people has to swerve to avoid me. It has happened 4 times in the last 3,000 miles. The date below is the most recent time it happened. I'll be taking it to the Ford dealership.
My truck has developed the death wobble and I have down everything to remedy this situation and no one has been able to get this very scary problem fixed.

Within a span of 30 min. I experienced 3 uncontrollable steering oscillations also known as the "death wobble. " the dw experienced, the speeds were around 50 miles per hour. Less than that, the aforementioned oscillations were not experienced. Reason for the 30 min time frame was due to making it back home from the first occurrence. First oscillation was on smooth road, the other two were on less than smooth roads.

Front end suspension has on several occasions began to violently shake. It appears that the driver side front wheel begins to bounce rapidly after hitting large or small defects within the road surface. This occurs only when driving on highway type roads where posted speeds typically exceed 55. (texas has some posted speeds of 80 mph and I drive this area often) numerous times during this occurrence I have had little to no control of my truck's direction of travel. The only solution to date that has worked is to slow down to a near stop while still in the middle of high speed traffic. When this "death wobble" occurs, I have zero control of my vehicle as far as steering is concerned. We no longer allow our children to ride in the truck with us as this has become a dangerous driving environment. Additionally the violence of this wobble aggravates an pre-existing medical issue within my neck and head. (veteran with (2) tbi's and severe nerve damage in my neck) the dealership has confirmed the issue and suggested I replace the front suspension and my tires. (my tires still had 20k+ miles left on them) the vehicle has been taken to a dealer for the vast majority of it's service and maintenance. I have mentioned the "death wobble" on several occasions' and even agreed to have the entire front end suspension along with all four tires be replaced. This seemed to have fixed the issue in the short term, but it has returned with considerably more violent shaking than before. I asked the dealer to repair again, but they refused without additional payments, as the repair is now more than 90 days old. No warnings are given prior to this violent shaking other than the initial jolt. Even with a warning, traveling at 60-75 mph along with confined traffic the chances of becoming involved in a possible life-threatening accident become extremely high.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-350. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 mph and positioned between two tractor trailers, the vehicle suddenly experienced the "death wobble". The vehicle began to violently shake and vibrate, and the steering wheel became extremely difficult to control, causing the driver to fear for his safety while driving between the two tractor trailers. The contact stated that the failure had occurred on several occasions after driving over a bump in the road. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 86,000.
Driving down the highway at a speed of 70,truck began to vibrate uncontrollably changed lanes. Continue to vibrate uncontrollably in the front of the truck. Pulled safely to side of road. Expected to see flat tires. No flat tires. Turn truck off. Turn truck back on no issues again. I believe this was my first experience with the death wobble.
•between my wife and I driving approximately 65-75 mph on 5-6 different occasions, with an initial complaint to Ford on August 13, 2020, on I-17 in az and other az highways the steering wheel and the whole truck shook violently during a stretch of bumpy road or after hitting a pothole. Slowing down has been the only way to stop the wobbling and shaking which creates a precarious situation with semi-trucks behind as my wife has experienced. •today (January 8, 2024), I experienced this wobble and noticed some of the vehicles behind me thankfully had slowed down. I felt I was going to lose control of the truck and possibly crash as a result. As I was about to exit the 17n to thunderbird rd, I slowed down to approximately 50 mph and the shaking stopped so I continued to proceed north. There is a long strip of bumpy pavement south of cactus rd and the shaking occurred that lasted approximately 10 seconds as I was passing the cactus rd exit. •the problem has been addressed on multiple occasions: sanderson Ford on 8/13/2020 (vibration felt in steering wheel when going over bumps). Sanderson Ford on 10/28/2020 (rattle noise from right front wheel when pulling trailer). Diesel doctors on 11/11/2021 (for independent suspension check sanderson Ford on 12/06/2021 (severe vibration felt when going over a bump at 65-75 mph from front of vehicle). *sanderson Ford on 1/4/2021 (front sway bar came loose from brackets while driving). Sanderson Ford on 3/4/2021 (vehicle pulls right). 2021 my family and I were driving from colorado back to phoenix and as we were south on I-17 from the flagstaff exit I heard a loud metal clanging sound. There were no mechanical issues experienced thank god but we took it in to sanderson Ford very soon afterwards. Within the past 1-1/2 weeks, the advance trac (downhill) light illuminated and we made an appointment with a diesel mechanic. After today's episode, I called sanderson for and am waiting on a call back from them.
Starts shaking violently when I reach speeds of around 50 mph. This has been happening since sometime in 2019 but I didn’t know how to report it until today.
I was on the road and I hit a bump on the freeway only going between 55 and 65 mph and the truck immediately started to whobble out of control I almost hit the car next to me because I could not control it . It was a life and death experience I could never shake off . I spoke to the dealer and they claimed they had never heard of such thing and acted like they didn’t believe me. What ever is wrong with it needs to be recalled because I’m surprised that no one was hurt on rush our in a busy city like salt lake city. Ford is being very irresponsible for not fixing the problem.
Death wobble.
I just had new breaks and rotors, shocks and some small front end parts replaced. Alignment also completed. While driving south on I-17 down from sunset point at 75 mph the speed limit, I went over a small bump or hole on the road and the death wobble started and violently began to wobble from passenger side to driver side, or jumping or bouncing 6" to 12". Items in the door storage and on the dash where tossed about. I began pumping the breaks until the wobble stopped at about 35 mph. I have owned four f 350 one ton trucks with over 500,000 miles driven. This is the first time I have had this happen. I was asked by another f350 owner if I had ever had this happen before. I now know why it is called the death wobble. I cant believe I made it through this. There a big problem here!!!!!!!!!!!.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the front of the vehicle started to wobble. While driving over a pothole, the vehicle wobbled violently. The contact was unable to control the vehicle while driving over 35 mph. While driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact detected smoke coming from the vehicle. The engine warning light was illuminated. The contact called the local dealer, who informed him there were no recalls. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 99,856.

On my 21 f350 I had a gooseneck trailer attached and while it was in the process of getting loaded with no more than 5 thousand pounds. A very loud pop was heard. After a closer inspection I found that both rear leaf spring hanger brackets had split. Causing a safety issue.
When driving this vehicle, it will suddenly go into a violent shake. I have to slow the truck down and pull over to a stop to make it stop shaking - it will not drive through it. It will do it 8 times out of 10 driving it. The steering becomes difficult to handle. All I can do to stop it is pull over. It has done it several times between 1 August and 19 November. I will give you the most recent date below!.

When I hit a bump or pot hole the truck front end goes out of control at speeds of about 50 to 70 mostly making it shimmy out of control. I have replaced most everything on the front end at my cost and it still does it. What is scary is that you dont know when it is going to happen. This truck is a 350 Ford super duty Ford with 92464 miles. I understand there is a defect on the front end of these trucks. This is a big truck to hold when it starts. Someone is going to get killed or kill someone else if they dont get this taken care of and im makeing notice of this problem.
Death wabble twice all 6 wheels shook as though falling off. Semi truck behind hit airhorn and locked up brakes to avoid hitting me at 75mph. . I had to immediately slow to 20mph to stop castrophe.
We had the death wobbles going 65 on cruise control everytime we hit a bump on the freeway. I lose control until I slow down to 35 mph.

I am the original owner and began experiencing the death wobble in 2020. I put $5k into my suspension and put an additional steering stabilizer bracket to still experience the wobble. It’s dangerous and has nearly made me wreck with my only child onboard. Something has to be done. This is a known issue that Ford will not address or repair properly. These vehicles are not cheap and we should feel safe to drive on the interstate. I currently cannot. Extremely disappointed in Ford.
It’s doing the death wobble and has almost made me lose control on the interstate and seriously could have had my 9month daughter and I killed.
Well, driving truck at speeds of 60 mph developed wobble. After slowing down wobble went away after about a 10th of a mile. Incident does not happen when I travel under 50 mph. Has happened several times. I researched this topic on internet and Ford claims to fix this problem in the year 2020. They claim vehicles after that year will not have this.

Discussed with lithia Ford , casper wyoming-and vehicle to be inspected on October 12, 2023. And hopefully repaired. Vehicle has 100000 miles on it with extended warranty. No injuries or death.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-350. The contact stated while driving 55-60 mph, the steering column and the front-end of the vehicle started shuddering significantly. The contact depressed the brake pedal and slowed down significantly until the vehicle operated as needed. The contact was able to continue driving. The contact stated that the failure occurred a second time while driving over a bump on the roadway. Additionally, the contact stated that the failure recurred a third time while his wife was driving. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the failure could not be duplicated. The dealer referred the contact to the manufacturer and the contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.
When driving at speeds above 55 miles per hour the pickup will develop a violent vibration commonly known as the death wobble most commonly happening when hitting a dip in the road or a bump. When this happens myself, passengers and other motorists are put at risk of a deadly accident. Most recently it happened doing 75 mph on the freeway, we were almost struck by others trying to stop the pickup and this happened three different times during a trip trying to make it home. I have taken the pickup to the Ford dealership with no solution or long-term fix to the problem for the last 4 years. I have been told that they see nothing wrong with it. I have also taken it too two different tire shops with no long-term solution. I have spent thousands of dollars to try and find a solution by replacing parts, tires twice and replacing the wheels and nothing has worked.
