The contact owns a 2025 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle independently accelerated. The contact stated that the transmission independently shifted from first gear. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle was uncontrollable. The contact turned the vehicle off, shifted into neutral, and parked the vehicle in the nearest driveway. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was restarted, and the vehicle was driven to the intended destination. The contact stated that the failure had not reoccurred. The contact stated that the vehicle drove normally after the initial failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact stated that several attempts were made to contact the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 1,400.
The fan clutch assembly failed and as a result the drive mode would not change from tow/haul mode to any of the other 4 drive modes. Accelerations and decelerations were negatively affected as a result creating safety hazards when driving. The engine was always responding as if a trailer were attached and subsequently accelerations were difficult and decelerations consistently utilized the trailer engine braking system, similar to semi-trucks utilizing the jake-braking systems, this is a significant safety issue and needs to have a recall issued for the replacement of these fan clutch assemblies.

While driving with the cruise set I wanted to reduce speed and hit the minus speed button on the cruise control which caused the vehicle to speed up which made me hit it quickly a couple more times to slow it down and it responded by speeding up more and led me to slam on the brakes. Luckily no one was in front of me so I didn’t rear end them when it sped up and no one was behind me that could have rear ended me when I slammed on the brakes.
Since my vehicle has been in warranty I've had intermittent issues where my vehicle loses track of what gear its in and forces downshift to 1st gear. For the most part this only happened when I was going slower speeds. I told my Ford dealer about it but they said there were no recalls for it. On Wednesday while driving at highway speeds my dash lights indicating the transmission position began to flicker then my vehicle downshifted to first gear locking up the tires and screeching me to a near halt.

new saftey issue . . . . at about 670 miles on the odometer, the cruise control is acting up, set cruise control to any speed and within less than a minute it jumps up to another value. I. E. set at 45mph, jumps to 61. Set at 50 mph, it jumps to 61. At 70 mph setting it goes to 86mph!. replicated this many times today (12/18/2024). It didn't make any difference between normal, eco or tow/haul modes. Testing further demonstrates that the cruise will step up as above after engaging and if you let it run by itself it will make a second jump then a third to 86mph! needless to say I didn't check to see what it would do if it hit 86mph!! not safe to operate. Other than above the cruise had been working fine. Btw, it did matter if lane departure was on or off either as a note. As late as today 12/30/2024 the cruise control continues to act as above. I have not done a factory reset to the sync 4 system either. Will leave that to the dealer. The vehicle is going into the dealer 12/31/2024.

On highway for 2 hours, pulling 5th wheel trailer. Diesel particulate filter cleaning alert went on. Immediately truck lost power, a few other alerts flashed on the screen that couldn't read in time then alert that truck was being put in neutral which it did. Smoke coming out of engine compartment. Barely coasted to stop on side of freeway. Quickly turned from white smoke to brown. Barely enough time to get me, wife and dog out of the cab before flames coming out of engine. Engine and cab completely burned out.

I was on the road and I hit a bump on the freeway only going between 55 and 65 mph and the truck immediately started to whobble out of control I almost hit the car next to me because I could not control it . It was a life and death experience I could never shake off . I spoke to the dealer and they claimed they had never heard of such thing and acted like they didn’t believe me. What ever is wrong with it needs to be recalled because I’m surprised that no one was hurt on rush our in a busy city like salt lake city. Ford is being very irresponsible for not fixing the problem.

08 Apr 2023 vehicle hit a pot hole and we almost went into ditch when it began to wobble uncontrollably. We were traveling on the hwy and almost caused an accident to the vehicles behind us. Very frightening. 16 Apr 2023, hit a small pot hole vehicle began to wobble uncontrollably, took us again almost into the ditch. It occurred four more times trying to get home from airport. We scared traveling in this vehicle now because of these incidents. We are filing an official complaint on Ford.
My vehicle was purchased from shottenkirk Ford new in 2016. They perform my maintenance regularly. Recently, I experienced a leak and took it in; I had it towed to them. Shottenkirk wanted $1200 because they stated that the water pump needed to be replaced. After replacing the water pump, the leak was worse. Shottenkirk wanted $1200 to replace parts they said needed replacing in the transmission cooling portion. They tried to get me to trade in my vehicle for a new one. I could not afford that. After they did that repair, they said there was still a small leak. I tried to head straight home, but the vehicle would not shift into third gear, stranding me in highway traffic. I had to have the vehicle towed back to them. Now, they state that the transmission needs repair and they want $9000. I stated I could not do this and they said I could trade my 2016 Ford diesel f350 with 4wd with numerous upgrades for a base-model 2008 Honda ridgeline 2wd with over 100,000 miles. After researching, I believe Ford and shottenkirk are well aware of the problems with the manufacturing of this truck, and I believe it needs to be addressed at a national level.

There is an "advanced" recall on the clockspring contamination on my vehicle. The local Ford dealership is stating that they do not have access to the parts to fix this issue, as it's an advanced warning. The issue is that the truck is having the malfunction. The buttons on the steering wheel do not work, which is now causing me to not be able to see the display b/c it's blocked by a warning, the airbag light is on which is an indication that it does not work. Ford won't look at it without charging $200 for diagnostics and then I will be responsible for paying for the repairs, even if it has to do with the recall. They aren't even sure if the truck can be repaired because they don't have the parts for the repair?????? this is a safety issue, and is basically forcing me to find another vehicle to drive since the airbags are showing they won't work. I also can't use the handsfree phone options since the buttons don't work on the steering wheel. Need to know when the parts are going to actually be available.
On 7 Aug 2022, I lost cruise control, navigation function (gps0 and had problems with other elecrical functions on instrument cluster. I took truck to my local Ford dealer; they rand Ford diagnostics on truck and it had 3 module errors listed. They cleared the codes and tried to get me to accept the vehicle. Road tested it and there efforts of clearing the codes did not fix any thing. Brought back in shop on 10 Aug 2022. Diagnostics ran again now narrowed it down to apim failing 3 times in 2 days. Now deallership says they have to order part from California if they have them in stock. This truck only has 22,000 miles on it. Has had multiple failures of equipment for fuel system listing codes p0191 2 and threee times per day. Dealer will not attempt to fix that problem. Just says deal with it.
When I go over 45 mile an hour it has the death wobble. Have almost had a few accidents due to this. What is the fix for this??.

Lost ability to control cruise, horn, all buttons on steering wheel, and airbag light came on. I believe the clockspring is defective.
My 2018 f350, has a very violent shake when driving 60 mph and above, I was driving when I hit a dip in the highway and the steering wheel started shaking real hard, I felt like I was gonna lose control it was wobbling violently. I took it into the repair shop where they to where able to mimic the issue. This issue just happened out of know where, with no warning. . I can see easily how this will be a safety issue to any one having this same problem wile driving, and a safety issue for others driving next to me. . Ford has told me they are aware of this issue but have done nothing to fix this safety issue. .

The Ford is under a customer satisfaction program 21b03, and Ford will not honor this for our vehicle, however our truck has the number one planetary and ring gear assembly that has gone out.
Transmission lunges forward at times even when putting into park position and starting vehicle. Also, when driving down the road vehicle jerks or bucks and throws you forward. Periodically, there is a complete loss of transmission function then you hear large bang and truck jerks forward. This has been reported to fenton Ford camden, NY several times and they cannot seem to find issue and stated if it doesnt duplicate happening when they have vehicle there is nothing they can do about it. This has become a serious safety concern when truck jerks forward when starting and park position and lunges forward in traffic. Thank you for your anticipated, cooperation and help resolving this serious safety matter. Thank you, [xxx] - vehicle owner information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
When driving down the road, the entire truck starts violently shaking and making it difficult to control the truck. Slowing down to 5-10mph stops the shaking.
On two occasions the truck has gotten the shakes and it's hard to control on the road. Steering wheel vibrates bad too. Was going about 50 mph each time. Once down the highway in a construction area and the other time down a county road. I believe it has a death wobble.
I've experienced 4 extreme cases of violent wobbling of the front end, utterly violent and uncontrollable. Tap the brakes it becomes worst. Cant hold the steering wheel, utterly random happened 4 times in the last two weeks. I am scared to drive the truck now and it's my only means of transport. I am terrified it's going to happen and I will crash or kill myself or someone else in a wreck when the truck is shaking out of control. It is truly terrifying. In motion typically on a freeway speed around 50 to 60 mph.
Driving on the highway at 70 mph. The steering wheel wobbled out of control which made it so I could not control the vehicle. I applied the brake but it didn't respond until the truck slowed. Cars were serving off the road and I was within seconds of a very serious accident with 2 of my children. I am frightened to drive the truck as no one can tell me what the cause or repair needed. Had something similar on my former Ford but not to the extent of this incident.
I was driving and my steering arms caught on fire.

Lost control of steering braking and speed . It has happen 3 times twice with my son . 1st time was about a month prior to the big one . Driving in a construction zone. So not about 45mph hit a pothole brakes started intermittently hitting all different sides . Very difficult to control. Almost hit concrete wall. 2nd time with similar to the 1st one however on highway going 75mph it took control while in motion. We almost wrecked 3rd time happened on a dirt road on a curve no control over steering brakes hit all for different areas at different times. Brakes hit so hard on the driver's side consistently it broke the tie rod and the arm sleeve slamming us into a dirt bank on the right side and some trees damaging our vehicle separating arm sleeve and tyrod. . We called Ford dealer let them know what happened they said no recalls on our VIN they would fix but out of our pocket. We had to call ins to cover exterior damage as a result my brand new tires wore completely no one seems to want to help.
Within the last few months the truck has experience the "death wobble". At first it started at normal michigan highway speeds, but it has become more frequent and more repeatable, and occurring a lower speeds. Essentially if you hit a typical highway bump the vehicle will begin to shake completely out of control force you to rapidly decelerate or brake quickly on a highway until it stops. This truck has a stock suspension and about 150k miles. We have taken it to a suspension shop they cannot identify any failed components.

Vehicle rpm will not drop when taking foot off the gas and in gear. Rpm stays at 1100 and vehicle speeds up on its own. No difference with engine brake on or off. Seems to happen in parking lots or at stop lights when moving at slow speeds 5 to 10 miles per hour. Vehicle will accelerate unless brakes are applied. Brakes have to be applied sometimes very hard to get vehicle to stop and engine rpm to drop. Documented by the dealer with no fix. Ford motor company contacted with no fix. This has occured multiple times.
My 2018 F-350 has a uncontrollable wobble in the front end, the Ford dealer has replaced the steering stabilizer, but that didn't seem to help. Feels like the wheels are falling off, the vehicle doesn't feel save to drive. It seems to happen at all speeds.
Tl the contact owned a 2001 Ford F-350. While the vehicle was parked in a parking lot without warning the vehicle caught fired. The contact stated that a coworker informed him that the flames were coming from underneath his vehicle. The contact attempted to extinguish the fire but was unable. The fire department was contacted and extinguished the flames. A police report was filed. No injuries were sustained. State farm was contacted towed the vehicle to a tow lot and deemed the vehicle a total loss. The contact mentioned that the brake fluid light was illuminated and brake fluid was added to the vehicle. The contact mentioned that prior to the fire he noticed that fluid was leaking underneath the vehicle. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 09v399000 (vehicle speed control) as a cause of the failure as VIN was included and recall was not serviced. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000.

Truck hit bump (small curb) with driver's side front wheel and simultaneously started accelerating and had total brake loss. This happened while driving towards a gas bump in a filling station. Vehicle accelerated from about 10 mph to probably over 30 mph until it hit a stationary truck.
1st incident-driving on the highway the truck started violently shaking after hitting a small rise going over an overpass. Extremely blessed that I was in an express lane (tolled) and no one was around me. 16ft trailer was hooked up and it took every bit of strength I had to keep the truck in the 2 lanes and not the wall. Thankful no other vehicles were around me. 2nd incident- again driving on the highway the next day; a very small bump in the road caused the violent shaking. I was not towing, but I did have vehicles around me this time that thankfully were paying attention as I was in and out of the fast and middle lane. The experience is indescribable and frightening.
While parking, foot on brake, engine increased rpm to very high level. 2019 truck with 41 miles, vehicle was stationary.
Tl the contact owns a 2004 Ford F-350. While driving various speeds, the vehicle suddenly shut off. Also, while idling, the engine rpms remained very high and the vehicle would attempt to surge forward. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the icp sensor and injector control sensor, but the failures continued. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 200,000.

Referenced Ford had the driver's side airbag deploy while vehicle was parked in a heated garage overnight. There was no key in the ignition. We do not have a time frame for how long it was parked before deployment. After this deployment found that the truck no longer had power to start the vehicle or any dashboard indicators/gauges working. The headlights would come on/off randomly till battery is completely dead while parked and switch was in the off position. Spoke with the dealership and they said it would take up to 6 months to repair. I decided to see if I was able to track down the problem myself. While working on the truck my dog happened to jump into the truck and all the lights came back on. I told him to get out and as he was getting down he made contact with the driver's side foot well cover and all the lights went back out. Upon removing the foot well cover I immediately found broken and charred wiring to include the airbag wires being compromised. The area of concern is where the foot well cover and the driver's side kick well panel come together just below and to the left of the parking brake. They use the open space below the foot well cover to run the wires to various different parts of the vehicle. Speaking with kendall Ford dealership in wasilla alaska, he informed me that the wire being chaffed/broken and charred was a normal wear and tear part and that Ford would not repair it or replace the airbag. Really felt like they did not want to even talk to me.
At times and very frequently truck is losing power to accelerate, very slow to accelerate, will not go over 50mph. This happens everywhere doesn't matter the speed or location. When this happens the turbo psi reads 0, and you can't hear the turbo. A warning will come up that says the exhaust needs to self clean and drive to clean. Sometimes it will have thick smoke come out the exhaust that stinks. Sometimes the truck will shake violently when trying to accelerate or brake. Very dangerous when driving on the highway and the truck will not accelerate so that I can merge without being rear-ended. Sometimes it will loose all power so I have to let up on the gas and try again softly and it will slowly accelerate this has also happened at a traffic light that turned green for me, as I was entering the intersection I lost all power and was almost rear-ended. The first happened when I was trying to get into the right slow lane on the highway from being pulled over on the shoulder and as I stepped on the gas and the truck did not accelerate at normal speeds and I was unable to accelerate to speed in order enter traffic in time to not get rear-ended by the car coming up in the lane I was trying to enter thankfully the other driver switched out of that lane.
