One problem related to engine clicking and tapping noises has been reported for the 1999 Ford F-550. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Heard a clunking noise, and had vehicle serviced for universal joints. Two weeks later, while driving on highway went to apply brakes and all of a sudden there was smoke everywhere, tires caught on fire, and brakes failed. Inside brakes spun around to caliper and froze.
