I receive notice about recall 22s17. Brought to Ford service in woodbine, NJ. After my truck was reprogramed the truck doesn't intially connect to the trailer. If I turn off ignition and turn back on the truck doesn't realize it is connected to the trailer. I must idle the truck get out of my truck unplug then plug the trailer connector back into the 7 pin plug for the truck to recognize the trailer for the trailer brakes to work. This truck is my only work truck and I need a solution quickly.

4 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Ford F-550

Failure Date: 07/15/2019

I have only used the truck for five months and have had several business interruptions and issues with the truck from the gas tank leaking, problems with the brakes and the box hoist that would not raise. I have had the box hoist fixed multiple times but the weld keeps breaking. I am sure Ford knows about the hoist problem but they have not issued any recalls for it. As a consumer I feel cheated. My recent problem is the engine, it had stalled unexpectedly and shut down completely for no reason at all and without warning while my son was driving on the highway. It was a safety issue and put my son's life at risk. I looked up the above VIN number on the internet but could not find direct recalls relating to it. Ford has put out recalls on some of the engines for Ford f550s yr 2012 but only for ambulance type trucks not dump trucks. I am complaining because my dump truck has the same engine stalling problem as on the ambulance type f550s from year 2012, when it unexpectedly shuts down completely and without warning.

9 Service Brakes problem of the 2000 Ford F-550

Failure Date: 02/01/2013

The purpose of this is to shed light on a defective parking brake system designed by Ford. The system will affect several model years of Ford light and medium duty trucks. The parking brake pedal assembly does not withstand regular use it tends to fall apart. The last assembly installed in my f-500 is a Ford new assembly and held up for 18000 miles, Ford now refuses to provide a replacement under warranty. The failure of the system has cause this truck to roll and hit parked cars. The entire design is a failure as it can not safely hold the weight of an empty vehicle. My truck weighs 14000 empty and is rated at 19000 gvw. The assembly even when adjusted properly can not hold the vehicle on an incline. The inside the rotor hat design for parking brakes is a copy from the light SUV's Ford produces. This is not an adequate design for heavier vehicles. The surface area contact of shoes to the inside of the rotor hat is not great enough to produce the friction needed to hold the vehicle. I know of several other people that have the same problem with their Fords in the same model years. At 360749 miles the entire parking brake system has been rebuilt on this specific truck. The shoes are adjusted up manually (it has no self adjust feature) tight with the rotor hat and the system will not hold the vehicle on an incline. The system with normal wear becomes a greater hazard as the park brake system weakens quickly.
