Transmission Shudder problems of the 2012 Ford Fiesta

Transmission clutch shudder this car is owned by my 83 year old father. I am his poa. For a while he noticed that when he put his foot on the gas the car would hesitate. It got really bad last week. We had it towed to hoffman Ford. They told us about the recall and I read many articles about it online as well as the lawsuit. The dealership diagnosed the problem as this recall however because he was at 106,000 miles it was not covered and it would cost $2500 to fix it. The car is not worth that much. If Ford knew there was a problem than this should be fixed by Ford at no cost no matter the mileage. He is now worried about his safety and so am I. I contacted Ford corporate and they told me that he can fix it and save the receipt. If the recall changes then he could get reimbursed. This is unacceptable. Also the dealership charged me $160 to do a diagnostic and did not fix anything!.

I was driving and attempting a turn. The transmission shuddered and stopped moving. Like I was in neutral. I nearly got hit. I stopped the car restarted it and drove away.

We bought our 2012 Ford Fiesta about a 2 years ago. Since then we have taken it to 2 mechanics and the problems persist. The transmission shudders and lurches forward at random. The car has major issues accelerating and has almost gotten us in many accidents. The car seems like it gets stuck in a lower gear and will not move out of it even as your foot is pressed all the way down.

Multiple problems were reported to me by the dealer as potentially being the cause when I took the car in for loss of power while driving, intermittent check engine light and wrench light along with shuddering in the transmission while driving. The dealer replaced (for the second time in 12-months) the clutch assembly, the seals, the clutch release lever and the clutch slave but stated that while the throttle body was bad and in need of replacement, the problem was not caused by the clutch nor did it contribute to the clutch problem and would not be covered by the extended Ford warrantee of the clutch. I had taken the car in with the same issue several months back but, because the check engine light was not on at the time, they dismissed the issue as normal functioning of the clutch. The same issue was the cause for the initial clutch assembly replacement a year ago. I plan to pursue the issue of the throttle body with Ford in light of the fact they are acknowledging and taking ownership of etb issues with 1. 6m other Ford models in the same production period.

Ford Fiesta 2012 transmission has been shuddering for several months and now at 50,000 miles very bad mis shifting and not shifting (sounds like jumping into neutral) I have it in dealer and praying that it is covered with my premium warranty and special extension given by Ford for tranny problems.

Transmission started vibrating and causing the car to jump and shutter. And wear my tires down.

I have bought my car in 2014 January for a good mileage and stylish look. The vehicle perform well for couple months. Later, I have brought my car to the Ford service in 2014 July with a complain of transmission and safety. Since then I have been in and out of the dealership with automatic transmission problems. My Fiesta now has 43k miles and has been to the dealer 2 times for transmission work if I would have time I would definitely bring my car to the service more. It is very unsafe. The last two visits have resulted in major repairs in an attempt to fix the problem and still the problem persists. The transmission shudders, hesitates, and lurches in stop and go traffic or when slowing then starting up again such as at a stop light or stop sign. Again it is very unsafe to drive this car I am going to claim a lawsuit against them.

Jerks and shudders when accelerating constantly - on highways and city streets. Transmission makes a grinding noise when driving. Sometimes will take a few seconds to accelerate at all - this is very dangerous on highways because the car will get "stuck" and not accelerate.

Transmission makes a grinding sound and shudders when shifting. When you go to turn a corner the car shudders so bad it almost stalls. When driving up hills when tha transmission shifts it starts to shudder and you almost stall.

My 2012 Ford Fiesta se has the powershift 6 speed automatic transmission. In less that a year, the transmission shuddering problems started. You can feel and hear the shuddering in first, second and now sometimes third gear. The transmission has been in for software upgrades 3 times, has had one transmission rebuild, and I'm now three weeks waiting on my third new clutch to try to fix the problem. Ford motor company has obviously been fielding complaints about the powershift transmission for several years, yet other than extending the warranty, has done nothing to actually fix the problem. I bought the car new and was hoping to get 200k miles from it, I don't see that happening. It's time for a national recall on these cars / transmissions!.

This is to add to the many complaints about the Ford Fiesta transmission clutch shudder. I bought my car new, it began shuddering in a few months. I've brought it in to dealer for repairs 4 times in 4 years. The last time I was told there is a long, long wait for replacement of a faulty clutch with another faulty clutch. The Ford company has extended a useless warranty up to 150,000 miles, which strongly suggests the company is going to wait out the functional life of the car . The danger, in this case, is the financial loss incurred when trading in a car with a known fault for which the manufacturer is to blame, and receiving full value for a faultless trade-in.
