I just bought a used 2012 Ford Fiesta and I realized after buying it that the odometer isn't working at all. The transmission also isn't working properly. When I start the car, the 1rt gear won't go into shift so the car stutters and shakes. I took the car to a Ford dealer but they insisted that the car doesn't have a recall for the transmission. I know that there is a consumer class action suit against Ford due to faulty transmissions built into these make and model. I have contacted a lawyer and I am waiting to hear from him. I would like to file a formal complaint. Thank you. P. S: I do not know what type of photos or documents you would like me to upload do please contact me with more information with this regard.
When at a complete stop the car shakes. When pressing on the gas from a complete stop the car shudders and stalls. When driving at a slow place (under 30 mph) the car will vibrate briefly.
The car is a 2012 Ford Fiesta that I purchased from a dealership in April of this year -2019. The car accelerates unexpectantly when you start it or after a stop. While driving, the car will suddenly jerk (often violently which causes my entire body to move forward and back). The car shudders and kicks when driven. The car shakes and makes loud noise while idling. The car rolls backward while at a stop and after release of the brakes. These problems makes it very difficult to control the car. I do not feel safe in the car and fear that it poses a danger to myself, other drivers, and the public in general. I have driven many years and had a number of cars. This is first time I feel compelled to voice a concern about a vehicle. I am disappointed that these cars can be sold without any warning of the problems to buyers and that such cars are even on the roads.
To whom it may concern: I was a 24 year old single female when I went to the fox Ford dealership in grand rapids, mi in early 2012. When I saw the Ford Fiesta in the showroom I thought it was cute. I test drove it and thought it sounded a little loud but didn't really know anything about cars so I ignored it and told the salesman I wanted to start the purchase process. I ended up leasing the car in March 2012. By September 2012, I moved to arizona and took a job with child protective services. I started noticing my car jerked a lot around 20,000 miles (early 2013). Whenever I went in for my oil change at earnhardt Ford in chandler, az I mentioned the shuddering and jerking of the car. I was told this was just a characteristic of the car and it couldn't be fixed. I mentioned this multiple times but when the technician would look at the car, it was working properly. The car started to get worse and being a children's case manager meant that I had to drive children around frequently for my job. I started to fear that I would get in an accident when turning since that is when my car would shudder and stop when trying to make a turn from a stopped position. I knew that I needed to start documenting the issues in case anything were to happen.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Ford Fiesta. While driving various speeds, the vehicle suddenly shuddered, hesitated to accelerate, jerked, and vibrated. The vehicle was taken to waxahachie Ford(2401 north interstate 35, waxahachie, TX). The dealer reprogrammed the power train software and the clutch was replaced, but the failures continued. The contact indicated that the vehicle was serviced for the same failures more than ten times. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 51,000.
We have a 2012 Ford Fiesta. When we are driving the car ti shakes when it goes to change gears, it is an automatic. We've taken it to the dealership many times. The dealership used to tell us it was the mass air flow sensor. They have cleaned it and replaced it. The car continued to have the issue. I took the car into the dealership and told them to check the clutch assembly. They did and replaced the clutch assembly saying that was the problem. The car drove decent for about a month then we went back to the problem of losing power in the middle of an intersection and then accelerating too fast after the loss of power. Now the car will rev up when in park and continues to have the shuttering problem. The dealership seems to not know what is going on.
The vehicle shuddered a lot, felt unsafe.
I bought this car in may of 2012, the car begins to shudder and rattle after only a few miles of driving it. When you go to take off in the vehicle it shudders and makes a loud rattling noise. It has been in and out of the shop multiple times, the computer has been reset, the clutch replaced although the it's an automatic transmission and was told it needed to adapt to my driving. After 4 years it still does it and no answers have been given. The car is unsafe. You have to push down hard on the accelerator to get the car to go without it shuddering to the point of feeling like you get whiplash. Ford motor company has extended the warranties on these vehicles to 100,000 miles, and provide no charge for service. The transmission is the problem and Ford does not want to fix it.
My 2012 Ford Fiesta has a serious, ongoing life-threatening issue. The vehicle shudders when accelerating and causes me to lose complete control of the vehicle which has nearly caused my one-year old son and I to be in multiple accidents. I have had the transmission replaced on three different occasions yet the problem continues to occur which tells me there is something seriously wrong with the product and no matter how many new transmissions they install, the issue will always exist. One time this problem occurred while attempting to merge onto a freeway. I began merging and all the sudden the car shuddered and would not move forward no matter how hard I pressed on the gas. I had complete loss of control of the vehicle as oncoming cars grew closer and closer to hitting my son and I. If the car behind me did not slam on their brakes we would have caused a major accident. On a separate occasion I was attempting to make a left turn on a green light and the car moved forward and turned just enough to put my son and I in harms way and then stopped and did the shudder thing causing me to lose control of the vehicle not able to move forward. I am scared to drive it and feel like I am putting myself, my son and other vehicles at risk every time I have to drive.
Have had many instances of jerking and grinding while the vehicle shifted gears. However now vehicle struggles to accelerate when under load, engine revs but vehicle does not accelerate. This occurs notably when going from 10-20mph and trying to accelerate, as when trying to merge onto a highway from a ramp. Owned manual cars that required clutch replacement, sensation is similar. Vehicle has 26k miles, has had two clutches and three computer updates. Told by dealership that vehicle is safe to drive while they wait for parts, I disagree.
Car shudders, jerks, and lurches. Concerned about it even being safe to drive. Do not have the control needed to drive safe at all times. The dealer has made repairs and adjustment to the transmission issue more than three times. The dealer claims it is fixed each time and each time the problem remains. Seems like the NHTSA should step in before someone gets hurt. After researching, it is obvious that this problem is far from unique. Please someone get involved.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fiesta. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would shake and shudder. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, however the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch and catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, however the failure recurred a second time. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle needed a software update. The vehicle was repaired. However, the contact stated that the vehicle began to exhibit the same failure shortly after that repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 53,000.
After 13 days of owning the car, the car began to make grinding noises and would shudder when shifting in low gears. The noise and shuddering was so bad that I was afraid to drive the car. Took to dealership and clutch is needing replacement. According to www, this is a very common problem and often progresses to the car suddenly accelerating. This is a dangerous issue and should be treated as such. I find it appalling there has yet to be a recall. . .
I have had multiple incidents with the transmission of my 2012 Fiesta, beginning roughly in November of 2014. The first specific incident I can recall occurred on December 18, 2014. I was driving from toledo, ohio to the detroit, mi airport and back. I had two other passengers in my car who noticed the violent shaking/shuddering problems that my vehicle was having when trying to accelerate. The shuddering occurs at both low speeds and high speeds. The shuddering does not occur daily but roughly 4-5 days a week, causing difficulties with acceleration, breaking, and controlling the vehicle. About two months ago I was stopped at a red light at a busy intersection. When I began to accelerate my car started shaking so violently that it could not move forward any more. At that time a semi-truck was coming up behind me and had to swerve to avoid hitting me. The speed limit at this busy intersection is 40mph. At this point my car is unsafe to drive, even though I have taken it in to the dealer multiple times to fix the transmission. So far, the repairs have been unsuccessful and I am told the potential parts to fix the issue (the clutch) is on back order for a minute of 6-8 weeks. I was told to continue driving my car in the mean time, and that no one can assist me at this time, even though I have been trying to rectify this issue since January 2015. Also, the clutch is not guaranteed to fix the problem, as it is the same make as the one currently in my car.
I purchased a Ford Fiesta 2012 a month ago, and have had transmission slippage since. At regular in town speeds, the Fiesta slips gears sometimes causing the car to roll backwards. Recently I was in bumper to bumper traffic and almost hit a car in front of me because the car jerked so much not knowing what gear it should be in. My car jolted back and forth. I then took the car back to the dealership where it was then taken to Ford and the computer for the transmission was reset, they told me to drive the car 1000 miles and to bring it back if not fixed. The car was still doing the same thing on day 1 of return, this car is not safe to me or other people on the road, especially if you are stuck in a lot of traffic. The car also makes grinding noises along with a lot of vibration. Nobody should be required to drive this car 1000 miles more just to have to bring it back. It's not safe, and I don't feel comfortable driving it.

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fiesta. While driving approximately 20 mph in second gear, the vehicle started to shake violently. The failure recurred multiple times intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing and the computer was reprogrammed, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 9,500.
Clutch has been replaced every two years on car since it was bought new in 2012. Car will start shuddering and have trouble shifting when trying to get up to speed, happens when car is in motion. Ford only has replaced with same parts has not fixed problem as car is on fourth clutch, and I expect shuddering to start happening again next year, when the two years with current clutch is up. Will notice it happening once or twice and then it becomes more frequent. Then you have to deal with the dealer having the parts in stock and being without a car for two days while it is getting repaired. First clutch replaced in June 2014, has been every other June since then.
The car makes grinding noises from transmission and when pulling out of a parking lot the car stalls I almost get hit by another car. When in stop and go traffic the at lunges forward almost hitting another car. As of today car has been in shop 3 times on third time they fixed the clutch it did fine for a few months now its doing it again and they are claiming its normal. I'm afraid for my safety.
Transmission had problems, gears grinding, car shaking when accelerating, shifting up and down when driving at a constant speed.
My car had some suspected issues from the beginning (grinding noise when shifting through gears) but I assumed it was because of the dual transmission the car drove like a manual. I had some issues with shuddering but I was assured it was because of the way that the transmission is. In December when my car was about 2 years old and I had about 32,000 miles on it the noise intensified and become worse, it was also accompanied by the car shuddering almost constantly namely at low speeds. I took it for an oil change, and the technician told me that something seemed off with the transmission so I might want to have a Ford dealership look at it since it was still under warranty. A couple days later I was accelerating from a green light and my car did what seemed like a semi-stall, the car died for about 10-15 seconds before kicking back on. I took it to the dealership, and apparently some Ford Fiesta's have a defect of some sort in the transmission which causes the clutches to slip. They gave me a free loaner car, but I have no idea when I will get my car back since the parts that are needed are massively backordered. I feel like Ford owners that may be affected by the issues with the transmission should be notified of this potential issue. It may not be a huge safety issue now, but if those transmissions start giving out it could be. Hopefully there will be no other issues with my car especially after it is no longer under warranty.
I have a 2012 Ford Fiesta that I bought brand new in March 2012. At random times I felt the car shuddering during acceleration when going into 1st and 2nd gear. It got to the point where it happened more frequently causing my car to shake. At times it would feel like it would die out. I finally took my car into the dealership during the warranty period still and they diagnosed it as the clutch system having trouble catching. This was replaced in January 2014. 10000 to 12000 miles later around the end of may 2014 the same problems are happening again. At this time my engine light came on. I took it in again complaining about the shaking upon acceleration and engine light. They told me that it is expected with this type of transmission because of the built of it and blamed the throttlebody (engine light diagnosis) that is causing the shaking. I paid out of pocket for the throttle body since at this time my warranty period expired. I picked it up and 2 days later I had to return it to the dealership because they did not resolve the problem of shaking upon acceleration. They kept the car for a day and the transmission tech diagnosed the same problem as before which was the clutch assembly system. Even the service advisor stated to me that many other Fiesta owners are having problems with the transmission and some are on their 3rd replacement of the clutch system. Currently I'm still waiting for the parts for my car to come in to have it repaired but the shaking is getting worse and making loud grinding noises. It feels like it will stall on me especially when I'm trying to cross any intersection on make turns when accelerating from a stalled position. Majority of the time I have my children in the car and very nervous that it will lead to a potential crash.
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Ford Fiesta. The contact stated that while driving at 40 mph and noticed the vehicle making a loud grinding and knocking sound. The contact stated that the vehicle was also jerking in to gear. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and diagnosed that it needed a clutch or transmission. The vehicle was not repaired, however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,000.
From the stopped position, the whole front end of the car shudders as you begin to press the accelerator. We took the car to a Ford dealer, they (koons, silver spring) updated the software and told us it would take 1k to 1500 miles for the problem to stop because we have 3 family members that drive this car and it has a driver style memory. . The shuddering also causes the car to lurch and pause if you have to merge from a stopped position to 40 or above mph. A problem only a very experienced driver can adjust for. This problem is dangerous to all on the road. I want a response from Ford or a possible recall. Many blogs already on the internet.
Shortly after purchasing my 2012 Ford Fiesta (new) in December, 2012, it began shuddering when changing between gears. It also made a "rattling" noise when accelerating or sometimes even when cruising at a steady speed. The first time I brought the car to the dealership, they kept it for a few days but told me they could not duplicate the problem. The second time I brought it (October, 2013, approximately 30,000 miles) they kept it for a week and told me there was something leaking on to the clutch and they fixed it. Now, at 57,000 miles, the car is shuddering worse than ever, particularly between first and second gears, and the rattling noise has gotten progressively worse. People riding with me constantly ask what in the world is wrong with my car. I finally brought it back to the dealership, where it has now been for two weeks. They've called twice - the first time to say that they were going to have to remove the entire transmission, so it would be a while longer before it was repaired. The second time was a week ago when they said Ford had something they wanted them to try (not sure what exactly it was). Have not heard from them since. I'm fearful that at less than 60,000 miles I'm going to have a vehicle that a) can never be fully repaired and b) is possibly unsafe. And certainly I'll never be able to sell it or get any money for it, who wants to purchase a used vehicle that has a reputation for so many problems, as both the Fiesta and the focus do.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fiesta. The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 mph attempting to accelerate, the vehicle started shaking violently. The failure recurred two times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the clutch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The failure mileage was 19,121.
My car shudders a lot when stopping especially on the highway or merging off the highway' also happens in city or suburbs if going over 40 mph; , gear slips when stationery before hitting gas to move car, speed slows down or hesitates when hitting gas pedal, took to dealership many times and nothing ever got fixed. Ford sent a letter stating that I would get double the warranty on the transmission and I will receive a letter stating this, but will not confirm anymore. Problems occured after I purchased this Fiesta in June 2012 but did not know that it was not working properly until the recall came out and I took it in for the first time. I was told that I was "too late" to get anything to fix it or have it taken back by Ford because I had waited a year. I didn't even know that the car was working poorly! it was brand new and I thought this was the way it was okay to drive because the problems were not as noticable. It got much worse as time passed. I have repair invoices but I need to fine them. I want my complaint filed now so that I am not forgotten. I had a lemon lawyer contact me named trott, who told me that if I accepted a claim he would put in for me, it would be the best deal I would get in terms of attonement. He said he got $8k and took $3k for his work. I received a check for $5k. I asked mr. Trott if I should get the car repair with this money. He said people are keeping the money and getting rid of their cars. I kept my car because I cannot afford to buy another one regardless of the $5k I received. I do not use my car very much now because I do not like that it shudders when I use the brakes and that it slows down when I hit the gas pedal. I will upload the documentation you ask for when I locate it.
When coming to a complete stop and pulling out I feel a shudder, feels like car is jumping. You can definitely feel and hear it. Day Ford in monroeville pittsburgh PA said I needed a new clutch kit system. A year later on April 15th same incident. Came back to me as they could not find anything wrong. They stated it was in the cars limitation, (rpm). Three weeks later brought it back to them and said it as getting worse. They looked over car and stated yes they felt the shudder but the car was in limitation. They also stated many complaints on this issue so they extended the care warranty from 50,00 to 100,000. I stated that I was not satisfied and said I will file a complaint.
Vehicle shuddering and grinding noise when accelerating from a stop. Makes it very difficult to gauge acceleration rate. This is a real and documented safety concern nationwide.
This is an on-going issue with this car. While driving at lower speeds or while trying to accelerate while merging onto a highway or at a traffic stop the car will shudder, pause, jerk forward or pause. There have been several incidents where I have nearly been in a collision because of this clutch problem. The jerk reaction of the accelerator has caused the most close calls, as it can happen while decelerating as well. I have brought this issue to my local dealer's attention and have had it in the shop for a total of 3 weeks or more within a 6 week period recently. Both times I was told the clutch system was reset and had to re-adapt to my driving, only to have the problem start again within a day or two unexpectedly. I have to bring my car in yet again for this same issue.
I bought this car brand new in July of 2012 and I have had nothing but problems with it. The main issue being the horrible transmission. The car sputters and shakes upon take off; the rpms rev up very high and yet the care goes nowhere; the car sounds like it needs to shift into the next gear, but doesn't; there is a huge delay when you step on the gas, the car sits there before it actually goes anywhere; the car lunges forward when you are in situations like stop and go traffic. I have taken my car into two separate dealers and the car has had 3 clutches so far. The newest problem with the car is a horrible squealing coming from the brakes. I've had two new sets of brakes and a deglazing of the brakes, only to have the problem still exist. I've taken this car in for a total of 6 times for the transmission and this week will be the 4th time for the brakes. These cars are a road hazard and should be recalled immediately. I have filed a complaint with Ford motor company and the bbb auto line. Ford should be ashamed of themselves for knowing about these issues and not doing anything about it. People's lives are at risk in these cars and they obviously don't care. I wonder how many people will have to die or get injured before Ford decides to admit they sold a horrible product and that it needs to be recalled.
As I accelerated, the gears began making a grinding noise. This cause the entire vehicle to vibrate and shake uncontrollably. This occurs 80% of the time when I press on the accelerator and start accelerating. Also, when I try to drive the vehicle at slower speeds between 30-45 mph, the gears grind constantly and the vehicle will sometimes vibrate uncontrollably. When I first got the vehicle, it was very minimal vibration and/or gear grinding. I have had the vehicle almost 2 years now and it now has 40k miles on it. The grinding noise is now very very loud and the vehicle shakes even worse than before when accelerating. If I had the rate the vibrations/shaking of the vehicle out of 10, I would rate it a 9. When I first took it to the dealer I bought it from back in April 2012, I was told that this was the way the vehicle drives because of the type of engine/transmission. I was told the vehicle has a manual transmission and the gears are shifted by a computer. So, I took their statement at face value. Now, after owning the vehicle for almost 2 years, I have been doing a lot of research and finding that several other owners are experiencing this problem. This, I believe, is definitely a safety issue because the vehicle is not performing properly and it vibrates so strongly that the entire vehicle shakes and in my opinion, this could cause loss of control of the vehicle.
Car makes a grinding noise at low speed acceleration.
This car is a 2012 Ford Fiesta. I first started noticing problems before I even hit 15,000 miles on it. The car shudders and jumps with acceleration and turning. I have gone in numerous times to have it fixed and the problem is never fixed. There have also been numerous times when the car hesitates when I need to make a speedy decision putting me in danger because the car doesn't react the way its supposed to. Now my engine over heated and I have no idea how that happened. I cannot believe this is happening to my 2 year old car. I am seriously thinking of just trying to sell it and get a new car. Something needs to be done about this make and model. I think the entire line should be recalled and people should get there money back.
