I had both recalls regarding the computer module reprogramming performed (#14m02 and #15b22) but my car still experiences sputtering between gears. Took the car in for another recall regarding the door latches on 7/10/17 and during the transmission check, my Ford service representative told me that I had a faulty dual clutch failed and that it needed to be replaced. Cost of replacement is over $2000 at all american Ford in hackensack so due to the expensive financial burden, I unfortunately declined to have the service performed to replace the dual clutch shudder. . The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fiesta. While driving 10 mph, the contact noted that the vehicle jerked and shuddered during gear changes. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The second time, the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch failed again and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The approximate failure mileage was 21,000. The VIN was unavailable.
Clutch fails to catch properly when changing gears. Sometimes when downshifting, it will go into neutral for a second or two, then catch at a high rpm causing a sudden lurch forward potentially causing an accident. When in stop and go traffic, or coming to a red light turning green, the braking and accelerating pattern confuses the transmission, often guessing the wrong gear to shift into, exacerbating the aforementioned issue. Particularly when slowing down for turns, and then accelerating during or after the turn, the gears will grind and fails to properly transmit adequate power, causing potentially causing a t-bone accident when doing a left turn or causing a rear end accident when turning right onto traffic. When changing from forward into reverse, the clutch fails to catch for a second or two, and when it catches at a high rpm for being in neutral so long, it causes a sudden jolt backwards, potentially causing an accident. At lower speeds (<20 mph) the gears grind when shifting, especially when turning. This has been an issue about a year after buying the car, within 20000 miles. The issue has only gotten progressively worse.
