We purchased our 2007 Ford 500 in July of 2007. At 87,000 miles the a. C compressor is failing. The a/c works properly if going above 45 miles per hour, however once you slow down and or stop, the air starts warming up. I was just quoted $1400. 00+ to have this repaired. I completed a lot of research this week in reference to this issue prior to having the problems looked at and there are litterly 100's of documented cases of this same problem on 2005-2007ford 500's. Obviously there is a problem with this and Ford should step in and make this right.

After only 72000 miles, my a/c compressor on the 2007 Ford Five Hundred has given out, leaving me a hefty repair bill of $1300+! my car is currently in a private mechanic's shop being worked on and he has completed our regular maintenance on the vehicle. The a/c would work at speeds over 45 mph, but in 100 degree heat here in texas all summer, in stop and go traffic, it was miserable.

Ac compressor problem. After reading numerous blogs, seems to be a very common problem for the Ford Five Hundred models. Ford needs to recall and fix.

Ac problem, cool when going down the road. Worm at idle. 05 Ford 500.
I own a 2006 Ford Five Hundred. This past week I had an issue with my car lunging forward while stopped at traffic lights and also while backing up. My husband was parking the vehicle at a restaurant and while the brake was engaged the car lunged forward and hit the curb. Luckily the vehicle came to a stop once it hit the curb. What if the curb was not there but, a person was. We left the restaurant and we were at a stop light. My husband said he felt the car was going to take off. When we got home safely ( thank god ) we went online to investigate. It seems as though we are not the only one with this problem. The Ford freestyle has many complaints and the Mercury montego as well as the Five Hundred have complaints as well. It seems to be a problem with the throttle body. My huband called the dealership and got the part for about $560. 00. Luckily my neighbor is a mechanic and will be putting the part in for us. This will hopefully correct the problem if not, I be filing another complaint. Please document this problem and hopefully in the future something will be done about it before someone get seriously injured or even killed !.
70 degree air blowing at idle and low speed. Lowers to 62 degrees at highway speed. No condensation draining thru condensate tube. Refrigerent evacuated and system charged with fresh 134.
My Ford Five Hundred sel has really been a problem from day one, however, the problem now is get either the check engine light and the fail safe mode together. This car has been in the shop so many times within the last three years until nothing should be wrong with it.
In my 2005 Ford Five Hundred sedan, the compressor for the air conditioning does not work properly. The air compressor will not cool the car unless you are driving at or above highway speed. When sitting at idle or driving around town, air conditioning system will blow hot air instead of cold. The compressor must be replaced in order for air conditioning system to work properly. Seems to be a very common problem with 2005 and 2006 Ford Five Hundred sedans.
My 2005 Ford Five Hundred has been a very dependable vehicle, except when the compressor went out. After doing much research, it seems that I am not the only one with this issue. Ford should do the right thing and repair the compressors on the Ford Five Hundreds because it is a very high safety concern. I have had to drive around with no air because I cannot afford the repair on top of the monthly payments for the car. If I had known that there was an issue with the compressor going out, and a $1200 bill to ensue, I would have reconsidered buying this vehicle. All the Ford Five Hundred drivers, including me, need help on this across the board repair. It is obviously a manufacturing error and should be made right by Ford.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Five Hundred. On June 21, 2009, the contact depressed the brake pedal, but the vehicle lunged forward. The vehicle was taken to the dealer the following day. The contact was informed that the air flow sensor, tp sensor, and throttle body were the reasons for the failure. The vehicle's warranty only covered the air flow sensor. The contact feels that the other two components should also be covered and that this was a safety defect that needs correcting. The failure mileage was 49,647.
