While turning my steering wheel to park my car my steering wheel detached from the column.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Flex. While making a left or right turn, the steering wheel was difficult to maneuver. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to pauli Ford (2380 old u. S. 27, st. Johns, mi 48879, (989) 224-6711) where it was diagnosed that the steering column needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer informed the contact that the VIN was not included in any recalls and provided case number: 14630352. The approximate failure mileage was 127,300.
The steering became tight and difficult to steer the vehicle. I brought it to the shop and after investigation they said the entire steering shaft needs to be replaced. Ford says the whole steering column has to be done. Ford needs to expand the recall as it is affecting more models.
