1 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 12/24/2025

There is serious safety trouble occurring with the power steering components, and the brake system. I went to the Ford dealership and they said the recalls weren’t fixed back in 2015. And those recalls are the same issues that are occurring with my 2012 Ford Flex se now. I just bought this vehicle and there is grinding noise when steering my vehicle and the abs brake system comes on as soon as I crank up the vehicle and the brake goes down to the floor too loosely. The dealership says these potential recalls were noted for this 2012 Ford Flex in 2015. But the owner at the time didn’t have them fixed then because not all 2012 Ford Flex received the recalls at the same time. And the power steering components and brake system problems are very unsafe while I’m driving the vehicle and as I was told could cause a fatal car accident if not fixed.

2 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 10/17/2025

My brakes locked up suddenly on the rear end causing me to get stuck in the middle of the road and unable to move it, even to tow it. I had to take 2 days almost to fix it in the middle of the road, since yesterday morning. They also began locking up suddenly on the front end, the wheel bearing, cv joint, tie rods, cv axles, cv boots, and sway bars began failing out of nowhere as well. The brakes may or may not be able to be replicated, as they are partially fixed and yes my entire front end can be replicated. The danger is my brakes locked up as I was driving, in the middle of the road at that. I have not been able to get the front end fixed as it is expensive, however the danger of this is the tires falling off or the front end failing all together. All of the other people who drive these that I have talked to and met have had the same problem and yes they are factory parts! even the people who have only 30 to 60000 miles on their 2011 Ford Flex titaniums have these issues! not only this but also the sensors go bad almost immediately off the lot, which can cause the car to brake without warning, stop running out of nowhere, make the power steering module fail, make your vehicle stutter because all of the sensors are bad. These vehicles need to be recalled and fixed, or recalled and replaced with better vehicles (from $60,000 up to $95,000) with any mileage any year. Please recall these and please help! I just got mine, this isn't right!.

3 Service Brakes problem of the 2018 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 05/25/2025

While driving in a 35mph zone, a complete loss of braking was experienced while coming up to an intersection. The vehicle was unable to stop, not even emergency brake function worked. An independent service center did a postmortem of the brake caliper and confirmed the fastener failure of the caliper bracket. The caliper fasteners sheared off inside the caliper resulting in the caliper piston falling apart while driving. This resulted in complete brake malfunction, and brake fluid leakage. There was no warning or message for this failure. The brakes experienced complete failure without warning.

I placed the SUV in park, turned it off (the car was stationary). As I leaned on the vehicle to get out of it, I notice it rolled back. Because it was unusual, I push on the car frame to ensure everything was okay. When I pushed the vehicle, it continued to roll out of my garage. I had to run and jump in the car, restart it, and put in in the park position again. This caused great concern for me because my small children were in the car. After this occurred, I called Ford to report it. Recently, I've done research and realized that some of the 2012-2014 Ford Flex vehicles were recalled due to this problem. . Read more...

20 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 01/15/2017

2014 Ford Flex has a few recalls; my car didn't get the notification but are experiencing recall problems. My car won't start due to fuel module (fuel pump) that has been recalled. One thing we also complained about is gas mileage the car lost 20%-30% since 2017. Ford motor mandated us to take the car to the Ford dealer only. Ford stated they would pay all costs 9/19/19; I also had to pay to have the car towed to the location. Now Ford motor company stated they will only pay a small portion of the amount. The dealer has contacted me and stated that Ford motor company will not pay anything. The part has been recalled on over 75,000 2014 Ford Flex. The car is currently at the dealer and they are putting pressure on me to pay for the repairs. A repair has not been made. Greg johnson at frittz Ford riverside is the contact person there ‭+1 (951) 687-2121‬; Ford motor company ‭+1 (800) 392-3673‬. We also had problems with defective breaks that also have recalls but supposedly our car was not affected but experienced the same issues as the people who received recalls notices for their vehicle.

22 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 12/10/2014

I went to the local kfc for dinner during my lunch break and when I came back to my vehicle after getting my food inside I started my car and proceeded to put it in reverse. As soon as I put the vehicle in reverse it proceeded to go forward instead. So I checked to make sure I put it in reverse and put the vehicle back in park and then re-engaged reverse and it went forward again. This time the brake pedal went to the floor and the check engine light came on. I immediately called the dealership and they advised me to turn the vehicle off and then on again to see if that fixed the issue. They did not advise me to do a vehicle history report that is equipped with my vehicle to see if the computer could find something. The service adviser at the dealership advised me that he never heard of this issue before and for me to watch it and if it happens again to call roadside assistance and have it towed in since that is a safety issue.

23 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 11/12/2014

When pressing the brake pedal the car would not stop or slow. Pedal went to the floor and still no stopping. Crashed into the rear end of another vehicle.

24 Service Brakes problem of the 2009 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 06/28/2014

While leaving a parking lot and accelerating to barely 10 mph, the left front brakes seemed to lock up and the car stuttered. After stopping and accelerating again, the problem did not reoccur at that time. The second time, I was leaving my driveway, again going no more that 10 mph and the same thing happened, this time I noticed my traction control light flashing. I put the car into reverse, backed up a bit thinking I'd run over something, and accelerated again. Nope, didn't run over anything, just traction control seizing up. Very concerned this may happen at higher speeds and cause an accident.

25 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 07/17/2013

Cpsc: i1380026a. 2011 Ford Flex. Consumer stated that the chemicals used to melt ice and snow causes brakes rotors to rot. Stated at 23,000 miles his rear brakes had to be replaced. Also at 32,000 miles all the rotors were rotten again.

26 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 03/05/2013

When stopping I would feel the car resisting stopping. I thought that the accelerator pedal was sticking. I then realized I was stepping on both the brake and accelerator pedals at the same time with the same foot. The harder I pressed the brake the harder I was pressing the accelerator. This has happened several times before. There is not enough separation between the pedals. There are similar reports from Flex owners on the internet.

27 Service Brakes problem of the 2009 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 02/08/2013

Drove 30 miles at highway speed. Then in shopping mall engine quit suddenly at 20 mph without any warning. No power brakes, no power steering. It was if someone had turned off the ignition. I was able to muscle the car out of traffic and was thankful this sudden failure did not occur at speed or while making a turn across traffic. This seems to be a problem identical to those reported by other 09 Flex owners, but Ford ( or at least my local dealer) is not interested in addressing the problem. Considering that the car had a loss of control, it is puzzling that this defect is not being taken more seriously. In terms of severity of the problem, this sounds like a '10'. The proposed fix is new throttle body, reprogram computer, clean injectors. Since no fault codes appeared and since this is intermittent, the mechanical breakdown policy does not cover what is clearly a manufacturing defect on these early builds. So the problem is twofold: the car dies suddenly and the computer does not recognize this as a fault.

28 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 01/08/2013

While traveling through virginia to pennsylvania, the front brakes vibrate/pulsate upon light braking. Seems as though the brakes were overheating in the mountains. At times, the pulsating was violent enough to transmit through the vehicle and steering wheel and floor. After a long break at a stop for lunch, the problem lessens but returns after driving vehicle probably 30 minutes or so. These moments of pulsation, there is a noticeable reduction of braking effectiveness. The problems have worsened since January and now the pulsations are happening more frequently and at slower speeds.

29 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 10/29/2012

First incident happened while driving about 40 miles an hour. Idiot lights came on the dash and the cars engine turned off. Thankfully I was able to get car off to the side of road. The car shuts down while I am driving!!! thank god that it has not happened while going 65 miles an hour with my family in the car. Car is at dealership. Have only had the car several months. The dealer ganley Ford west (16100 lorain Ave, cleveland, OH 44111, 1-(216) 941-9800) had replaced the brake system 4 times concerning the internal failure with the front and rear brake system (anti-rotation pin, adjuster spring, spring seat, piston seals, slider frame, anti-rattle clips, slider pins , caliber frame, etc. ) and the failure continued. The brakes had been replaced every 20,000 miles. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, had not issued a brake system recall and had issued 3 TSB for the brake system. 35 Service Brakes problem of the 2009 Ford Flex

Failure Date: 01/20/2011

I purchased a 2009 Ford Flex from mike dorian Ford that had 14000 miles on it. Two days after purchase I took it to a dealer for a bad grinding sound in the brakes. They performed a TSB on the front brakes. I took it back several more times for braking issues. Then the car came to a grinding stop in traffic several time and I almost got hit. I took it to 2 different dealers complaining about the violent shaking and the inability for it to go when I gave it gas. Finally after this happened several time I was hit as the transmission brought the car to a halt. I suffered injuries and the car had $15000 worth of damages. The person who hit me sued my insurance company. The dealership had my car for four months and never looked at the back brakes or transmission. I took it back 6 times for a leaking transmission and several other issues that were not fixed. This vehicle continues to come to a stop after trying to go from a dead stop. I almost got hit by a semi truck. My wife will not ride in the car because she feels we will die in this car. Ford has done nothing about this problem. I talked to a Ford mechanic who told me it was a transmission problem yet Ford has never even looked at the transmission. I feel I am going to be killed in this car. After $15000 of damages I have lost all value to the vehicle and my insurance has been raised. I later found out there is a TSB for the transmission yet Ford has never even looked at it.
