Ford Focus 2000 se - car loses engine power when driving on highway at 50/55 mph. Then warning sign lights up after a few minutes. I noticed this happens during hot weather mainly. Even after less than 10 miles of driving. If I stop the car a few minutes, the warning light shuts off but the problem is still existing. Does not happen during cold months.

First the back passenger door lock went out, and then the drivers door lock went out. You can not open with a key, nor the automatic locks. 4 Engine Cooling System problem

5 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2003

Fuel gauge giving incorrect readings, car stalling on tight curves such as on-ramps to parkways and interstates. Told the problem was the fuel pump. Had it replaced on 7/11/03; within 48 hrs lines disconnected from pump spilling fuel everywhere. Ford reconnected lines which held for 2 weeks then disconnected again. This time Ford replaced the second pump. Now its the coolant system that is failing, car overheats then stalls. So far no accident has occured, but it seems only a matter of time.

8 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2002

The main concern is the engine overheating. The dashboard indicator does not show when the engine overheats. Currently we are taking it back into the shop because of the smoke that come through the hood. We feel the car could catch fire at any moment and that is is undependable. It has been towed twice. We do not feel we can sell it because of all the on going defects and yet we still owe $9,000 plus to the bank on it. We feel trapped in an unsafe, undependable vehicle. The problems continue. We don't know what to do. Dt.

10 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2000

These are the probelems with my car. It is only 8 months old, yet this car has had repeated problems. The first major problem is with the brakes. They continually squeak and I was told by Ford that it was due to a safety issue. The brakes and pads were replaced yet the problem has continued since. I have also made numerous complaints and had the breaks deglazed and serviced many times only to have the problems continue. The next problem is with the ventalation. The engine strongly smells of burning oil/fuel. This problem was checked and fixed three times, but this problem also continues. The smell is so strong inside the car that passengers now refuse to ride in the vehicle. The smell is also very strong from out side the car. The third problem with the vehicle is with the driver's side door. The lock and latch are very tight and are some times imbossible to turn or open without exessive force. The door hinges are also stiff. This is a lot of friction in the hinges making lots of noise and not allowing the door to move smothley. The last problem I am reporting is with the suspension. This problem has been fixed more than 5 times and it is still a very big problem. New parts have been put in and the squeaking and humming is still very loud. There are also loud clanking noises coming from the suspension.
