The vehicle believes a door (driver's side in this case) is ajar when it is in fact completely latched. This issue is intermittent and repeats several times during a short (10 min) trip. When the issue occurs the vehicle unlocks all doors (central unlocking) and turns on the dome light. When it randomly thinks the door is shut it will lock all the doors and turn the light off. This process repeats at random intervals. Unlocking the doors while driving is dangerous, especially for those of us who have children. I have engaged the child locks as a mitigation step. The dome light coming on randomly at night creates a distraction and degrades driver visibility.
I had bought this car a little over a week ago and it has shown zero issues until yesterday June 17 2021, I was driving home when the car forced its self into neutral and the screen said transmission malfunction service now. I’ve called Ford and talked to them about the 14m02 recall/ campaign that was posted for this car and they said they’re unable to do anything because it’s out of the required parameters. I spent all my savings on this vehicle and now am out of a ride for work and I can’t even have a problem I didn’t create fixed? when they knew it was an issue.
As I go driving on the highway, the instrument cluster shows a "stop safely now" message. The problem is that happens when the vehicle is in motion and losses all power, the power train goes death. This is a very dangerous situation specially when youre traveling on a pretty loaded highway at 78mph. The only good thing is that steering wheel is still alive and brakes too. I had 90% of battery life and it was a hot day out there at 94f degrees. I did not take a picture of the instrument cluster but I have the message I received in my cell phone.
While accelerating out of a parking lot to pull out into traffic, accelerating through intersections, or taking a right on red, the car will start to accelerate and then suddenly as it try's to downshift, it acts as if its stuck in neutral, and wont accelerate at all. On multiple occasions I have almost been hit by other moving vehicles. Some going 50 mph have had to slam their brakes on because I wasn't able to finish accelerating to get out of the way. When it isn't doing that, it has jerky/ rough/ downshifts. It also vibrates when I try to speed up and sometimes has a hesitation and then will kick in to gear. This is a very serious safety issue and has almost caused me to get hit by other cars in motion multiple times . Especially trying to pull out into traffic! I brought it to the used dealership I bought it from and they discovered there was a communication error code with the tcm. They did a system reset and 24 hours later, it was back to doing the same thing again. After doing research I learned that there was a recall on this issue and the recall does a free reset for you. Well, this does not fix the safety issue! it actually needs to be replaced to their newer updated model that isn't defective like this one. So, their current safety recall does nothing. Also, other research showed me that Ford went through a giant lawsuit over these exact problems in 2016 and one result was an extended warranty of 10 years or 150k miles. . Read more...
Transmission issue for 2012 Ford Focus is code po7a3 a recall item? transmission issue makes it unable to drive safely. Local Ford dealership states not a recall item. But I never received any recall notice from them regarding any transmission issues and I just want to verify it is not a covered recall repair as it will be costly.
I was driving my 2012 Ford Focus and then it started to not shift when I was on a busy road with the speed limit 50 mph and going up hill. When the car stopped shifting I only went 20 mph or less. The car only has 64,500 miles and the mechanic says it's a bad clutch and computer. There's no reason for a car with that many miles to break down like that even if it's 9 years old. There's a flaw in the design of the transmission and everyone is letting Ford get away with it. I don't have the money to do this, doesn't Ford make enough money. They should've at least gave me the warranty for it.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving attempting to start the vehicle. The steering wheel failed to engaged properly. The contact mentioned that that he would have to turn the vehicle off and back on in order for the steering wheel to resume back to normal. The vehicle was seen at an independent mechanic however unable duplicate the failure. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact that a diagnosed test would need to be performed. The vehicle was not repaired however the failure recurred 20 a additional times. The contact feels unsafe driving the vehicle. While conducting a recall search I came across NHTSA id number: 10039118 (steering) as a possible solution to the failure however no recall number provided to confirm by VIN. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided the contact with a case number. The failure mileage was approximate 104,000.
I purchased my vehicle October 14,2020 from day one every time, I put gas in it, it stalled to crank and you could smell a rotten egg smell. I would have to sit and wait and press the gas numerous of times before the car started. My driver side back door came flying open the same day and would not latch back to close. Here it is November 28, 2020 my car starts smoking really bad and now won't even crank up to drive. I paid 4,056 cash for a car I can't even enjoy.
The transmission is slipping hard and jerking the car after it was rebuilt less than a year ago and has less than 10,000 miles on the rebuilt transmission. The rebuild was done through the dealer I bought it from and now they are refusing to fix it. It has been slipping like this and getting worse over the past few weeks.
My car is shutting off when I stop the car.
#01. The panel light are not working in my 2012 Ford Focus hatchback se - the fuel warning light does not work either way - stationary or in motion, the low fuel warning light does not come on. I need further assistance in troubleshooting for this vehicle. To inspect my vehicle and check why the lights are not coming on. #2 the positive battery cable is very corroded. #3. I'mnotable to properlyopencar front door from outside onpassengerside. I can open the door but exerting a greater force when I pull to open this door than the rest of the doors.
Just got transmission recall fixed and having problems again.
As I was driving the car it stalled and would not restart. This has happened several times. The last time it happened I was driving down my drive way and it stalled. It would not start and it sat in my driveway for several days. I finally got it to the Ford dealership. They said that nothing was wrong with the car.
Took my vehicle in for the recall on the door latches and they said everything was good and when l check the VIN on the NHTSA it states that recall incomplete. Also Ford had a recall my Ford Focus in my 2012 year about the evap l have had code p0456 in relation to p0456 evaporative emissions system - small leak detected. Ford supposely did a recall on this and supposely did work on my vehicle before l owned it, now it has same issue so l believe it was never changed out? I believe that recall was back in 2016 or 2017 or 2018?.
In September 2020 I was on the expressway when my engine failed, I was able to get into the emergency lane after almost causing an accident, after inspecting the car it was concluded that the engine was no longer viable with no explanation of why the engine failed. So I replaced the engine and the car was still not drivable. In March 2022 I was able to get it started when I tried to drive the car the transmission was slipping, the “ transmission malfunction service now” warning came on, and the rpm gauge on the dash was not reading properly. I ran a code after the transmission warning came on, and the code said p0001, I called the Ford dealership to get it serviced when I was told that there was an unknown recall but the part was on back order for a year, so my car wouldn’t be fixed until the order came in, I searched my VIN number and had a recall for a fuel tank deformation, I also learned that there was a lawsuit against Ford for their 2012 Ford Focus transmissions, which could explain the engine failure and the transmission problems.
I'm still making payments on my 2012 Ford Focus se. 3 days after buying it the check engine light came on said catalyst coverter is plugged up. Now the transmission is missing up. It has never one time passed the emissions control test since owning it. There isn't a day that goes by that this car hasn't throw me a different code from the check engine light. I got screwed. The car isn't safe to drive idk how many time my daughter and I have almost got hit because of the car not moving when giving the gas too it. I took it to the Ford dealership to get all my recalls done and they only did 1 recall and that was the tcm. They said that would fix the transmission problem im having. What lies.
First off, when accelerating, even after the transmission recalls were "fixed", we still have very bad jerking and shuddering when accelerating. Sometimes it sounds like a grinding sound. Secondly, there is a clanking sound that happens when we drive over very small bumps. It sounds like metal hitting metal in the back of the car. There is nothing in the trunk that could be making that noise, and is heard outside of the car also. Problem cannot be located by mechanics or myself.
While rounding a turn going up hill my car started shimmying, and studdering. At that point I am losing power. When pulling into traffic it is also doing it. I am afraid it's going to cause an accident.
The door latch suddenly stoped working, prior investigation showed that the spring inside went busted since the cable was attached to the mechanism and it didn't respond as it would normally do. This happened when I arrived at my apartment after working just fine during the trip from my hometown.
The door latch will not come out of the unlocked position and will leave the driver side door open with no way of closing.
My car started making a strange noise then it began to jerk now it won't go into reverse. Transmission warning light came in I can't drive it.
Vehicle would shake and completely shut down whenever I would stop at a red light or stop sign. It put myself and others drivers at risk because the vehicle would shut down on extremely busy roads, this happened on multiple occasions. There was an inspection by a service center but at the time I didn't have the funds to pay for it.
Upon accelerating the car vibrates and hesitates. I was almost hit entering an interstate due to this hesitation. It "feels" like it is slipping. I did return it to the place of purchase and they sent it to a Ford dealership. The used car lot indicated that Ford did a computer reset. It seemed better for a short bit, long enough for the computer to "relearn" driving habits and it began again, only worse this time.
Had replaced part of the transmission the module. But now my car has transmission issues again.
Was driving up my street when the engine suddenly shut down. I had to be pushed into my driveway. Very scary.
Taki off from stop light car is stalling, turned vehicle off and will not start again.
It died while driving 3 times right after and the car idles strange.
I received a recall for the canister purge valve. I took it in to a dealership last year and was told it was fixed. Now my check engine light is on and it the dealership tells me it was tested and their was no issue, so they cannot do anything now. My vehicle could stall and not crank back and Ford refuses to fix a faulty part they had a recall on?.
My transmission was fixed by a recall and it's still hesitating and shattering when I drive.
When I get in my car to crank it, the key switch seems to kill the battery but when you put the key in, the bell dings so I know the battery isn't dead. If you wiggle the key in the key switch, it sometime will crank and others it will not do anything - like the battery is dead.
The horn won't work.
The transmission shuddering and slipping. The car has 160,000 miles.
I was in a lane beginning to merge onto the highway. This car was to my left and did not see me in their blind spot trying to merge right too early. The car behind me was following too close not allowing me to be able to slam on my breaks. If my horn worked I could have alerted the driver that a car was in their blind spot. Luckily no accident occurred, but I'd rather one not happen period. My horn has been going in and out for quite a while. I have changed the fuse a numerous amount of times and got the plugs checked. No one can tell me what is wrong. This car almost hit me due to this horn issue. Also, I can not pass vehicle inspection due to my horn not working and the security sound not sounding when it is being locked.
Whenever it rains and I'm using my wipers they will just shut off randomly or they do a very inconvenient delay at the worst of times especially when it's raining hard. It's dangerous and you can't see. Oddly enough my horn don't work either. I got the car January 1st,2020 of course it was previously owned I got it from a used car dealer the horn worked until I think March, 2020. I hit a bump and it's like it just quit after that then a couple week later I got a bump again and it started workin for it a lite bit. Rhen a couple days went by and it just stopped never to work again. Checked all the fuses they all looked good none looked blown. It's scary because so many times people will either pull out in front of me like they don't see me or almost hit me and I have no way to alert them that they almost him me and need to lay attention. Then there's the whole having to take off slowly if not and you take off fast it the car will jerk and stall and it does it really when sometimes when turning and now the rpm drop so low when idling it almost dies. I just replace the motor a couple months ago and it was doing this before the ne motor got out in just not as bad. And it's kike you can press the gas pedal and push it but the car. Aren't beg jl and goes. . . It's scary to me and I usually always have my kid with me. It freaks me out because not only does it stall or whatever it's doing I have no horn to let people know to go around I know a girl I work with her daughter has the same car as me and stalking has gotta.
Vehicle purchased August 30, 2012. Two recalls for power shift six speed auto trans, clutch shudder. Taken in both times in accordance with warranty and recall instructions. In both instances vehicle was never fixed based on safety codes and instructions. Contacted Ford motor and dealership. In both instances compliance was refused. Last breakdown, Jan. 2020, regarding recall was denied due to claims that vehicle was not properly warranted. Took vehicle to dealer for recall issue again, and was told vehicle was not warranted for clutch and unsafe to operate. I believe the vehicle was never safe to drive! therefore, not only do I not have the funds to fix the original recall, but I do not have any vehicle or access to a vehicle. Recalls are not ever to be the responsibility of the consumer, especially when vehicle was not properly brought up to codes and standards in the first place. All attempts to negotiate a civil outcome have failed, and now Ford has completely locked me out of all access to any reps. And/or uppers authority supervisors, thus forcing me to file this complaint, which I hope resolves this issue and prevents me from obtaining legal representation. As a side note, if Ford or woltz and wind refuses to make this wrong, right - I will also be moving forward to the atty general as well as consumer affairs. I thought it was only fair to both parties (including yourself) to let you know all copies from this and any other decisions and/or correspondence will be copied and forwarded to said entities named. If that doesn't guarantee me a total resolve, I will then contact an attorney and file a civil suit-which on the commonwealth clearly states . . . I am also eligible to become part of the class action suit against Ford. I have until Feb. 20, 2020 and I am involved in that also.
