The car displays the p0902 obii code. The engine stalls and wont change gears properly. This is specially dangerous when turning since the cars behind you can't see you're stalling and may crash into you. Some times it gets so bad that the dashboard displays a message that the transmission has heated up and I have to pull over immediately. The car won't even run or change gears at that point. This problem happens randomly when driving. Specially when the vehicle is idle for a while.
I have a Ford Focus 2014. 3recalls. 1st recall transmition, for the longest time Ford dealership would not fix. Finally I contacted the NHTSA then told Ford what I did they finally fixed it but I don't think they did a good job. 2nd recall fuel system,I received a recall about cpv that might stick open. That would cause engine light to come on,inaccurate or erratic fuel gauge, inaccurate distance to empty, engine stall while driving without warning that could cause a crash. My car has all these symptom ,took it by the dealership to get fixed they said Ford would not fix the defects. Because special codes didn't come up. Sounds like a scam to me. Ford does not want to cover their recalls !!!.
I purchased the Ford Focus titanium hatchback in 2014 new, and since then it has been to the dealership/mechanic over 25 times due to 2 major defects -- Ford powershift transmission and electric/engine issue with draining the battery. I've had 4 batteries and average 6-8 jump starts per year due to the electric problems with the computer draining my battery. I've come very close to having at least 8 accidents due to the transmission fault. The transmission was replaced a couple years ago and it worked without having the shifting stall problem for about 2 months. My dealer said that's "all they can do. . . Ford doesn't offer any payback or refunds due to these 2 well-known lemon defaults. I just called the 800 number for Ford to file a complaint (800-392-3673) and they stated that I'd have to call back in 2 hours because their system is down. I asked if I could file a complaint online and they stated, 'no', you must call us to file the report. Details involving the lack of safety due to these 2 issues -- I've had my engine stalled in the middle of traffic on average of 6-8 times per year, putting my young children and self in great danger. I've also had my battery die just hours after parking it in a metropolitan city (miami/tampa/washington DC/chicago/detroit) and had to wait at my vehicle with my children for Ford or aaa to help replace/charge my battery -- which took on average 1-2 hours each time. I am requesting that Ford purchase my vehicle for the full blue book value, in addition to $10,000 due to the loss of work and lack of safety/hardship/disregard to my safety issues that I've brought to their attention over the past 6 years. Please contact me at 239-628-2841 and leave a message if I'm unable to answer. Thank you, julie eckhardt --- 13170 bella casa cir #289, ft myers, FL 33966.
Engine stalls when accelerating, and stops while driving on road. Occurs frequently and has happened more than once. Ford says nothing is wrong.
Takata recall. Engine stalls w/o notice, inside cab reeks of gas smell. Ford remedy is to keep gas tank 1/2 full. Doesn't work. Just filled up and still stalled while entering into the freeway. I did not use cheap fuel. Very dangerous and the remedy does not work. Took car to dealership twice now and they confirmed it's 1 of 10 Focus on the recall. In other words 10% of their Focus have this recall and symptoms. I called Ford corp and they gave me 2 options, 1)drive car with 1/2 tank or more 2) don't drive it at all. I need it for work #2 is not an option. Ford will not give a loaner car even I told them their remedy is not working and can cause bodily injury or even death.
I payed $372. 24 for a fuel system problem I was having problems were engine was stalling, vapor managementvalve was replaced. Now there is a recall that is not complete. Why am I being chatged for this recall?I would come to a stop sign or a red light and my car would turn off. This is not first time I take my car to Ford I also had to take it in for transmission recall.

Engine stalls at driving speeds. Ford issued a TSB for this vehicle but dealers are refusing to do the TSB because it is an intermittent problem. The TSB concerns faulty engine wiring harness. (TSB 13-9-7).
Ford Focus st 2014 on hot / humid day when you start the car up the engine revs will drop to <500 rpm and the engine will shutter or completely stall. In addition, while travelling at speeds 10-20 mph when the clutch gets pushed in the engine will hunt idle from xrpm and drop to <500rpm rapidly and the car will shutter or completely stall. I have been driving my car down the road and had it completely stall while moving. If this happens in the middle of the road or intersection it is seriously dangerous. Ford is aware of the issue, but are not fixing the electrical problem unless a specific engine code is stored in the computer. It has been proven that the engine will stall in these situations and still not throw an engine code, thus, Ford will not perform the service.
