2 Power Steering Fluid problem of the 2012 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 07/31/2017

The power steering is currently not working. It is like driving a car without power steering at all. Have to manually turn and maneuver the car. It is estimated that the whole steering column will have to be replaced which will cost $1,500 which should be covered by the Ford manufacturer. The vehicle was stationary when the problem was detected by the computer system in the car. Checked the steering fluid to make sure that it was not low or leaking and this was not the case.

3 Power Steering Fluid problem of the 2009 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 03/03/2014

Power steering fluid leak leading to loud noises when running car. Ford knows about this problem and hasn't done jack about it for about 5 or more years. There is either a problem with the o-ring or power steering pump. If the problem is not found there could be more issues like the power steering failing. A recall is needed ASAP!!!!!.

5 Power Steering Fluid problem of the 2008 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 10/01/2011

This is a ongoing problem with this vehicles suspension since I have had this vehicle I have replaced the tires on it 4x the rear suspension cups the tires and makes it bounce I have had multiple alignments and I bought it a 52. 000 miles n for the last 4 yrs I have bought many types of tires and this car has ruined them all, also strut replacement and tie rods and I just got a new rackon pinion for the steering was affected and the fluid leaked out and I highway drive, it would not perform over 65mph without shaking terribly I see more complaints about this car and this supension problem and steering and idol jerks me forward and feels like its going to stahl, the moter mounts an trani mounts are always loose or need to be replaced, an the ac went on it an because it's behind the dashboard the housing unit for the evaporator it cost 1000 to replace because it is hard to get too, the intermitten fan does not come on at all it never cycles so it smells like burnt engine coming in thru the vents that makes me sick, I have had nothing but problems since day one after I took it back after 2mons they wanted to keep it and re-do the whole engine and told me I would have to pay for it , thats when I should of reported it as a lemon, is Ford going to wait until someone has a major blow-out an flip the car an die this should be a automatic recall for safety this car is so unsafe, the frame is all wrong and the rear is not aligned from the factory this is an in house problem .

6 Power Steering Fluid problem of the 2003 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 08/05/2010

The power steering pressure hose on my 2003 Ford Focus zts (2. 0 liter, dohc) leaked power steering fluid onto the hot exhaust manifold, causing an engine fire. The power steering pressure hose is routed directly over the exhaust manifold.

7 Power Steering Fluid problem of the 2002 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 06/29/2009

Driving and the car started to make noise when the wheels were turned. Checked the power steering fluid and belt, and added more power steering fluid. The problem still continued. The power steering line was rubbing on the frame of the car, and rub open causing a leak in the line. This stopped the power steering from working. We took the line out, with a lot of effort, and time. Then bought a new part for $55 and then had to put it in. Although we have not got the part yet, but it seems as if putting it back in will not be easy.

8 Power Steering Fluid problem of the 2003 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 04/08/2008

Rack and pinion developed a leak. I bought my car in Feb 2004 and everything was fine on it. Last spring I noticed my car was making an odd sound and I raised the hood and found the power steering fluid level very low and filled it up. The noise went away. While changing the brakes on it my husband found the rack and pinion leaking fluid. The warranty was only good up to 36,000 miles and at the time this happened the warranty had expired. I currently have only 39,962 miles on this vehicle and drive it very little obviously since it is a 2003 and when we bought it Feb 2004 it only had 19,221 miles on it. I am the second owner of this vehicle and as I said I have only put approximately 20,000 miles on it in 5 years. There should not be a problem with the rack and pinion on this vehicle with this little of mileage on it and not driven that often, but there is and I have not to date been able to get it fixed as the two estimates I got to get it fixed is between 550 and 600 dollars to get it fixed. No one other than the rich people can afford a major repair such as this when it is obvious that Ford has a manufacturing issue on the rack and pinion on this model vehicle. It will be a total pain if this goes out before I can afford to fix it since it is has power steering and will convert to manual steering if it goes out before I can afford to get it fixed. Ford should be forced to make a recall for this issue.
