Failure Date: 08/12/2020

Was driving ~75 mph, got off highway to get gas (no signs of any steering problems). Turned car back on warning came on, turned car back off and on again, warning still there. Move car to parking spot from pump, no power steering. Heard there was a recall for power steering for some Ford Focuses but not for my VIN.

For a brief moment you may aslo have a hidden code u140 ,running scan shows malfuntion light deactivated not sure if this is tied to reflashing ecm or some cover up I will find what was done . The code u3000 Ford says differant after investigating the entire car grounds ,grounds to aluminum, some shield to protect the pscm what ,,,,that will be fixed my way it all comes to heat and voltage also many hours of searching and calling module builders mine was a u3300:53 deactivated period dead no good ,all the same and the units are on the fusions as well . 3 Power Steering Pump problem of the 2012 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 03/14/2019

2012 Ford Focus is very hard to steer, as if it has no power steering. There is no power steering pump. I learned that this vehicle has some kind of electrical steering. I have also learned that other vehicle like the Focus has the same problems as mine but yet these other Focus's have recalls for this problem. But not mine. We fear that this could cause a serious accident.

5 Power Steering Pump problem of the 2012 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 11/22/2018

Sometimes when the car is started and you go to back up or even pull in to park the steering wheel locks up and does not allow you to turn it. The radio makes this horrible loud crackling noise and imposes a tremendous safety concern when you are driving down the road and the speakers cut on and off without you ever touching the stereo system, I feel for those who have sensitive hearing or even the elderly if it happens to them because it is horribly loud and even with the radio off it still pops and squeaks, also the canister purge I just spent 700 last year replacing fuel pump relay switch car just cut off going down the 4oad and would not start back up.

7 Power Steering Pump problem of the 2012 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 10/23/2016

Steering assist fault: at mileage 84209 the power steering suddenly stopped working. After completing research this is a known issue that Ford has not recalled. It stopped working at the gas pump, with some luck I was able to get to a parking spot and leave the car stranded until arranging for a tow truck. Ford would not reimburse the $2,000. 00 expense to fix one of their known issues. Very fortunate no one was hurt. . Read more...

9 Power Steering Pump problem of the 2012 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 01/12/2016

Focus has been under many recalls and at Ford for repair multiple times for transmission. Every 6 months issues occur causing me to take back into Ford. Last couple weeks I noticed intermittently, when I take foot off accelorator, rpms continue to increase, and car does not slow down, causing me to pump breaks multiple times to be able to stop. Yesterday during a snow storm, I again took foor off accelerator, this time the car again would still continue to drive without my control, causing me to spin out, not once but three times. I did not get hit by other cars as everyone was going slow, but I did have to call into work as my car was not safe to drive. This is now a safety concern for my Focus, and myself, and my paycheck. Something has to give as Ford, has offered nothing but to keep bringing it back when issues occur. This is not appropriate customer service, and I feel there is a huge safety concern for my vehicle.

13 Power Steering Pump problem of the 2008 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 12/18/2010

Potential for accident. My 2008 Ford Focus started having power steering issues around 55000 miles. It would become intermittent in power assist to the point it would cause the steering to feel it was jumping from side to side. Took into the Ford dealership and they stated that teflon (used to help reduce friction on the gears, along with fluid) flakes were in the system and and that some part of the gear system was coming apart inside. Going to replace the rack and pinon system and attempt to flush out power steering pump, due to the worm gear in the rack and pinon being contaminated. Service advisor also stated that if continued to drive in this state steering could potentially lock up rendering the vehicle uncontrollable.
