1) a bracket that connects the seat to the rails that are attached to the floor had a weld break. Photos provided below. 2) the seat is no longer attached to the car in this particular part 3) no 4) I took the car to my dealer who did not physically look at it but refused to do anything to help me because the car was no longer within warranty period. They could provide me a quote only after I paid a $220 diagnosis fee. The part to repair is $1,020 before diagnosis charge, labor, and tax. 5) there were no warning or symptoms prior to the failure.

Back latch that makes the seat fold down won’t snap back into place.
There are supposed to be 2 bolts on the back of the driver's side seat. 1 close to the door and one next to the console. I looked and noticed that there was no bolt in the machined hole closest to the rear of the center console. I noticed this while the car was stationary, while I was vacuuming the fllor.

Ford Focus purchased new for our daughter in 2016. We all noticed a stutter or jerking motion upon acceleration and odd feeling when it shifted gears. . This has been going on for years. This cars is essentially all my daughters. I advised her as well as calling myself to the dealership we purchased it from because she wanted to take it in for an oil change or tire rotation. She advised them of the issue many times,no every time she took it up there. She was always told it was "normal" and nothing was wrong with it. So we trusted them that for some odd reason this is normal. Jan 2020. She was driving and the car began to shudder very badly the check engine light came on and it began to stop in the road like she was breaking . She described it as the car was just breaking on its own type feeling in the middle of a busy road. She brought it slowly to the dealership right away as it was not drivable. Apparently it is an transmission issue. A well known one! I will provide the service record in this for you to see what was replaced the numbers and codes etc . It was at the shop Jan 10-13th . Well they did replace some parts it was still doing the jerking stutter when accelerating after the repairs. Again she assumed that was normal because we have been told that many times and we thought maybe the actual problem she had was fixed. It was not. The transmission issue will never be fixed from what I am learning today in regards to this 2016 Focus in the news . I am reaching out for someone to listen to all of us. It is not a coincidence that so many of us can not seem to get our vehicles fixed at least if they can not fix them take them back! I never knew this was such a huge ongoing problem with essentially defective vehicles. . Ford needs to be held responsible. We will take the car in again next week for them to tell us its "normal". Seat also has stopped adjusting.

Tl the contact owns a 2018 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to mccombs Ford west (7111 northwest loop 410, san antonio, TX 78238) for warranty service on the transmission and was informed that there was sludge in the engine. The dealer replaced the transmission. However, the contact stated that while driving, the vehicle stalled without warning, the contact turned on the hazard warning lights while on the highway and was about to drive when the vehicle was rear ended by another vehicle. The contact sustained back and neck injuries that required medical attention. The front passenger seat moved forward as a result, the front passenger sustained face and chin injuries after colliding with the dashboard as well as back and neck injuries that required medical attention. The driver from the other vehicle was not injured. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed back to the same dealer, the contact stated that he was not aware of diagnostic testing or repairs because his lawyer was dealing with the accident case. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
One day while filling car up. . I noticed a few drops of gas on the ground afterwards. Today I wanted to add $8 to my gas tank. The moment I started pumping the gas started coming out. I tried a few times to continue but I kept coming out.

Car had problems with driver seat not clothing in right and sometimes moves back while driving. Seatbelts do not want to click right and have to push in multiple times before you can fasten belts. While trying to accelerate the transmission stalls and jerks forward and vehicle sometimes shakes while driving. Does not want to pick up sorry either.
The upper half when I adjust it sometimes doesn't click in all the way and as I'm driving one side will give out and click into one behind the one I set it as and it's only one side.
While driving the pull loop on the back of my left shoe became entangled with the driverside seat adjuster lever. When I attempted to move my foot forward towards the pedals I was unable as my shoe was stuck. This has now happened three times and has interfered with the safe operations of my vehicle. I was driving on the freeway each time this has happened on an extended road trip. I go to stretch my knee out, bring my foot back towards the seat and then can not move forward again.

"takata recall" the passenger seat is not registering that there's someone sitting there who 5'5" and weighs almost 135 pounds and is wearing his seatbelt. So the airbag light on the bottom right of the center console comes on and says "passenger airbag off" and the yellow airbag light stays lit up on the drivers dashboard until the car is shut off, all with someone who's big enough for the airbag sensor to know he's sitting there. All vehicles he sits in that have sensors for airbags for the front passenger seat always read that he's sitting there, so I know he's big enough to set the sensor off and for it yo know he's sitting there and to activate the passenger airbag. Pictures are of the yellow airbag light on the drivers, the center console "passenger airbag off", and a few showing where he's sitting in the seat and both the yellow lights are still on. The yellow lights are only on when the vehicle is running, in motion, on highway, stopped, on city streets, turning, and going forward. (itsl's alright to share all pictures publicly, I knew they'd be shared with the public before taking them. ).

Driver's seat track to seat attachment point becomes loose after 6k miles, causing seat to move during lateral loads. Dealer replaced seat track and issue replicated in 6k miles. Dealer fix was to use worm clamps to repair. They state that they went to an internet forum for a fix. After complaints, dealer replaced with another new seat track. State manufacturer has no TSB or design change yet.
Drivers seat will slide side to side during turns. Only slides about . 5" but slides none the less. Slides left to ride. After multiple trips to the dealer finally getting a new seat frame installed. They were very hesitant, but then found out its on back-order. But this could lead to injury during an accident. As it may have you off center of the airbag if deployed. After doing some research found, out this problem isnt fixed with new seat track it will reappear after several more thousand miles of driving. Started to notice around 7000 miles, and has gotton progressively worse.
Purchased the car used in 2014 with approximately 26,000 miles from schultz Ford route 304, bardonia, NY for about $18,000. In 2017 it was noticed that during raining water was entering the car interior above the left window onto the driver's seat and onto the front left floor mat where it would pool. Subsequently the interior wetness was heavier as the rain was heavier whether car is parked or in motion. The water needed to be soaked up with towels and sponges as necessary. Then an appointment was made with schultz dealership and repair to remedy the problem. The appointment was made with the water man on a Monday that he was scheduled to be at schultz's Ford dealership (once or twice a month). The leak was fixed by the water man for $265 who used tools to re-emerging out mostly tree and plant debris that fell on the car and somehow entered the draining channels that allow the entering rain water to drain through the roof and doors to the ground. I asked the supervisor of the schultz service center why the car had a leaking problem and why isn't there recall for the problem, and what can I do to eliminate or alleviate the problem. His snide response was park you car in a garage when not driving! after the leak was tended to by schultz dealership the leaks were greatly minimized , but they slowly returned over months and months until now they are as bad as they when we first had the water man remediate the problem temporarily. This vehicle safety complaint is being made to alert the agency to this problem in the 2012 Ford Focus car, and to ask you to see if there is a systematic safety problem in water leakage for this Ford model that should result in a recall for this model. There is a great danger that this continual leakage problem could cause microbe and mold problems due to moisture accumulation.

Thomas brennan is my name. This about my 2012 Ford Focus which I bought in 2014 with 27000 miles. In July 2020 it has about 65000 miles. It has been used for local driving, not for commuting. After I drove it several thousands of miles I discovered that there was a leak in the roof above the driver's shoulder and head as well as over the driver's front side window. The leak would occur only after heavy sustained rain down pours. I thought that the sunroof had somehow owned but I could no see any opening at any time. After several leaks occurred during heavy rains I took the car to the dealer. They gave me an appointment on a Monday in the middle of the month when the water man comes! I told them the problem and asked what I should do. The service boss told me to park it in a garage the bill was 264 dollars. I was not happy. They had to clean a passageway from the car roof and windows that passes through the door and front body to the pavement. It takes a while to get clogged again and it is time for the waterman. It not necessary to have a sunroof for this leak to occur. Ik think that this situation in the 2012 Ford Focus is common and should be considered as a recall issue. Is there any way that NHTSA would pursue such an action. The leaking occurs when it is raining very heavily. It has occurred while the car is parked when I have driven while it rained. The water would drip on my left side and leg, occasionally on my head. Since 08/15/2016 and ongoing in heavy rain while the car is parked and while I am driving if it rains heavily. There was evidence in the car insides that the leakages had occurred before I bought the car from the Ford dealer in nanuet, NY. Thomas brennan, motsset@aol. Com.
The front passenger side airbag malfunctioned in that it deployed without reason. I was driving (in motion) straight down a city road. It made an extremely loud noise that affected my hearing, expelled a lot of white powder that smelled bad, and tore up the side of the passenger seat. The airbag warning light went on.

There is a non-isolated safety issue involving the seats used in the 2007 Ford Focus. There are countless forum threads regarding the poor build quality of the seats used in this particular model of Ford. The back of the seat frame bends with little to no pressure and the condition of the seat back slowly but progressively deteriorates. This poses a serious safety hazard in the event of a collision, particularly in an incident where my vehicle is rear ended. Not only would the airbags deploy in the wrong direction, but the driver would not be properly protected in the event of a collision. I suffer from severe back pain just by driving the vehicle under normal conditions, let alone in the aftermath of an accident. There is no cost effective way and legal way to resolve this issue. Ford motor company sells the oem seats (which are all prone to seatback failure regardless) for $3,000. The only other option available to consumers is to purchase aftermarket seats. However, in states which require annual vehicle inspection stickers, there is no legal way to install aftermarket seats because by doing so, an airbag error light will illuminate on the dash, thereby automatically failing the car's inspection. The vehicle was in motion at the time of the incident. While speaking to a representative of the Ford motor vehicle company, I was informed that there is "regretfully, no recalls at this time for the issue I was experiencing" and "that there is no credible safety defect involving the seat. ".
It start with door busting all the time ,then I switch it off . . Now it want crank ,just bust.
While I am driving the car and it is moving, the driver side seat is suddenly disengaging, moving back and so leaving my driving position compromised, as my foot moves away from the gas pedal and my arms are suddenly outstretched reaching for the drivers wheel so that there is a sudden lost of control of the car. This has happened numerous times at this point.

The Ford Focus from 2007/2001 has had lots of door latches braking and the door will not open, in my case from the outside. I know Ford dealers seen a lot of these problems. This should be a fix at Fords expense. Were can I get the part other than the dealer? thank-you.

My wife complained that the front driver side heated seat was so hot it was burning, resulting in a mild burn. I investigated the problem and found that the driver side back cushion heating element had malfunctioned and burnt into the seat cushion and back lining of the seat fabric. I have pictures and have held onto the defective part. The heating element has been replaced however we are concerned that the passenger side may have the same issue. I have read of occurrences of this incident including reports of fires.

While driving passenger side leather heated seat caught on fire filled the car with smoke in flames.
3/1/ driver's side heated seat burned through upholstery and caught fabric on fire, while my daughter was driving vehicle. After searching the internet, I found that this has happened to other Focus owners. There was a service bulletin (04b16); why no recall?.
Drivers front seat began rocking back and forth during acceleration and stops. Inspection of the seat showed excessive front/back play in the seat, especially when compared to the passenger seat which is fine. Vehicle was inspected by a Ford dealership who indicated the hinges that attach the seat to the rail/mount and control height adjustment are worn out/damaged and will need replaced. Estimated parts cost is $460. Potential hazard in event of accident or hard stop.

The vehicle was parked with the engine off. A fire spontaneously began in the engine compartment. The vehicle was in service for 14 months, bought new and under a maintenance contract. No previous issues.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving 20 mph, the driver's seat disintegrated leaving only one piece of a metal shard in place. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the vehicle needed a new seat. The manufacturer was notified but offered no assistance. The vehicle had not been repaired. The VIN was unavailable. The failure and current mileage was 190,000.
Repair drivers side seat will not adjust forward or backwards. Replaced track assembly. For abnormal access to track air duct came loose and locked up and broke track assembly. Second issue started at lower mileage but continued driving and got worse and at 35500 miles took Focus to dealership with transmission shuttering jerking and making noises. They reprogrammed the computer. Before reprogramming I was getting 34. 2 miles to the gallon afterwards getting worse noises jerks and mileage down to 28. 6. Told me then at the time of reprogramming that they would order the clutch to be replaced but it would take two months to get the parts and it was ok to drive till then. I drive 64 minimum highway miles every work week. Seriously concerned about safety and being stranded on the side of the interstate, my wife drives this car. This was December 2013, reprogramming.
While driving my vehicle locally, my car shut off and engine light came on. I was told it was the main flow valve. I have to replace it, but then my key got stuck in the ignition. My friend was able to get it out. On August 12, 2012, my driver seat moved while I was driving and continues to skip on a certain click latch. Indecember, I had to take it back to the mechanic, cause my engine light keeps coming on, but we are unsure as to why it keeps doing that. Every now and then I can smell smoking wires/electrical wires burning. Now my lighter in the car is not working, but I think that runs in a fuse. . . Not sure. On April 13th, 2013. I returned home from a wedding and I am unable to yet again, get the key out of the ignition. I took it to my mechanic and he told me to check to find out if others are having the same problem and what they did. Then my friend told me about the major Ford recall.
Driver's seat back fractured at supporting structure causing lacerations, contusion, and sprain related injuries involving whiplash and instability for the driver.

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated that when laying on the driver's seat head rest, it would fall in between the seat and the head rest hole. The contact stated that the head rest was designed that it could not go all the way down and connect with the top of the seat. The failure mileage was 5 and the current mileage was 513.
My 2007 Ford Focus has (had) heated seats. Late winter of 2011, my driver seat would become very, very hot, and I would turn it off because it would become so uncomfortable. I found out this fall that this heated seat no longer works. I have checked the fuse and it is fine. The indicator light goes on when pushed, but no heat. I would not be surprised to have a burned spot on the heating pad. I believe that Ford should recall this as it is a hazard. You could be burned by a hot seat before it burns out. It could start a fire. I would like to see this repaired by Ford as they have numerous styles of vehicles with heated seat problems. Please make them repair this problem for us owners. I do not have out of pocket funds to have this repaired by a dealship.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the lever to adjust the front drivers seat no longer functioned and she could no longer make adjustments to the way the seat was positioned. The vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. The failure and current mileages were 53,000.
The head rest project forward to the point of causing neck pain and headaches. Causes severe pain makng it hard to sleep after driving for any length of time.
