1 Steering Noise problem of the 2012 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 09/09/2019

Power steering failed as we were pulling into a shopping center and had to have the vehicle towed to the mechanic. It started by making a grinding noise and then the steering got very hard to turn so we had it towed. We are aware that this has been a big problem on the Ford Focus but neither NHTSA or Ford has placed recall on this issue meanwhile Focus drivers have been spending an average of $1500. To $2000. To repair the power steering rack and pinion. Shame on you both.

After driving the vehicle to work and waiting to pull into a parking spot, I noticed that there was a grind noise when the steering wheel was turning. Next I noticed that the steering wheel was becoming more difficult to turn. Shortly from noticing steering wheel difficult more difficult to turn, the steering would not move at all. 3 Steering Noise problem of the 2014 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 07/02/2019

tamara recall. Recently the first week of July 2019 I left work and noticed I cohsot turn my steering wheel. I called red hill Ford and I spoke to one of the new guys and explained to them my power steering was going and it was making grinding noises. They actually told me to drive my car down to the dealership with what I told them. He told me it wasn't my power steering and that it could be something else but I knew since my car was hard to steer and the grinding noise it was making. I drove from allentown down to red hill on route 29 and it was a long ride there. Second, because they told me it cost 2 grand which I didn't have they were going to have me pick it up and drive it again knowing how it was not drive-able. Luckily my parents came through and paid it. Seeing the recalls I never received anything about my power steering rack. Shouldn't this been covered under a warranty or covered since there was a recall? there is no warning light that displays on the dashboard for the power steering and this is dangerous not knowing when your power steering rack is going. Please get back to me and if this should have been covered per the recall. I could have be badly hurt and or hit another car!!.

4 Steering Noise problem of the 2015 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 01/01/2019

The Ford Focus recall for the fuel tank deformation is not accurate. The recall letter we received said to maintain at least 1/2 tank of fuel, but my car has shut down multiple times while driving on the highway and at turnarounds despite having a full tank. The solution to this was previously announced for December 2018 and has been postponed until the first quarter of 2019. Ford needs to be further pressured to find a solution now as this poses a major crash risk. In addition to this, I've begun noticing issues with the steering wheel making a noise. Upon taking it to a mechanic, I was told that the steering rack and pinion had to be replaced and that several other owners of the same model had complained about their steering becoming unusable. Ford should issue a recall for this as well.

5 Steering Noise problem of the 2014 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 11/05/2018

Power steering rack noise backing car up steering car or just driving had to have car towed to repair shop.

6 Steering Noise problem of the 2014 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 08/24/2018

On 8/24/2018 I pulled into a gas station and filled the car up. As I was leaving I heard a grinding noise as I turned the steering wheel. I had never heard any noise from turning before. As I drove home 4. 7 miles there were no turns, but the road does wind a little bit. As I was driving I noticed the steering felt a little "loose" and a little unresponsive. There were no lights or warning so I continued home where I would look at it. Where the road curved I could hear a grinding sound as turned the steering wheel. No sound was heard while driving straight. When I got to my block I made a right hand turn and the grinding noise was very pronounced. When I turned left onto my street the noise was just as pronounced. When in my driveway I turned the wheel while parked and the grinding sound was at the same level. I turned the engine off and turned the steering wheel right and left and the grinding noise was the same as when the engine was running. A couple of days later I read about the possibility of it being a steering assist fault. I started the car and checked for warnings and lights and there were none. I turned the steering wheel and got the same grinding noise. The next day I jacked the car up to visually inspect the steering linkage and cv axle. No play in the cv, nothing visibly broken in the steering. I tried turning the wheel with the car on the jack stands and now the steering wheel would not move at all. I removed the stands and tried again to turn the steering wheel left and right, it would not turn either direction.

7 Steering Noise problem of the 2014 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 07/17/2018

At 42000 miles my car developed some noise with the steering. There was rubbing noise coming from behind the steering wheel whenever I was turning at low speeds such as when I'm pulling in or out of parking. When I took the car to a Ford dealership, I was told the noise was coming from the steering rack and it would need to be replaced. I'm aware there's a recall 14s18 that addresses this issue, but my car isn't covered because it wasn't manufactured at the date that affects that recall, so I'm asking for recall 14s18 to be expanded to include vehicles built at the same time as mine.

8 Steering Noise problem of the 2012 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 08/11/2017

While backing out of our garage I noticed a strange noise when I turned the steering wheel. The same noise occurred when I had to turn the steering wheel to enter the garage. ( makes the noise every time you drive it now. ) I had a local mechanic friend check it and he said to take it to the dealer to run diagnostics and to drive it as little as possible. The nearest dealer is 20+ miles away. I made an appointment and here is the diagnoses: found that the noise is internal to the epas gear. Steering gear replacement and alignment $1596. 49 installed plus tax. I had to pay a $95 diagnostic fee to find this out. The car has 61094 miles on it, so it is out of warranty and the Ford Focus has not had a recall for this problem. Many other Ford models with the same steering mechanism have been recalled, why not this one! so now it is sitting in the garage waiting on the part to come in so I can take it back to the dealer and have it, hopefully fixed to be safe. Hoping for a recall to get my money back.

10 Steering Noise problem of the 2012 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 10/27/2016

A few days before incident the car developed a rubbing noise in the steering column and my fiance stated that the car was difficult to steer. Thinking it was a power steering issue - a service appointment was scheduled and I drove the car to the dealer after hours. The distance is approximately 13 miles. After about 10 miles the dash display indicated a yellow display stating "service steering system soon". I continued to dealership and arrived just before 7:00 pm. When I turned the car into a parking space near service the steering column locked and became immovable and car display stated a red warning box " total steering failure - stop safely" this is the condition the service manager found the next morning. The cause is a total failure of the electronic steering control module. The cost to replace this part is $2000 after which time the dealer can diagnose "any of the other three common causes of steering loss. ".

Heard noise in steering and tires took car to be checked out was nothing wrong that is how it sounds and drives. This was 2 months after getting the car. In March 2016 turning a curve car steering got hard and locked up hit curve busted axlle and steering component. Replaced axle thought that was all. Then had car taken to Ford I was then informed of $3000. 00 in damages and labor to fix it. I did not proceed to getting fixed . The service manager proceeded to throw the keys at me and got pissed because I wouldn't get car fixed right then.
