Transmission Failure Problems of Ford Freestyle - part 2

I have experienced my second cvt transmission failure on my 2005 Ford Freestyle.

The contact owns 2006 Ford Freestyle. After stopping at a red light and getting ready to move the vehicle it failed to move. The automatic transmission and the upper torque mount failed. There was a warning light illuminated displaying a wrench for the automatic transmission. The vehicle was towed to his residence and inspected by a mechanic who stated that the transmission failed. The manufacturer nor the dealer were not notified. The failure mileage was 86,000.

2006 Ford Freestyle transmission and throttle control problems. Bought this vehicle used with 99k miles, days after buying multiple problems appeared. First the throttle body failed, vehicle would accelerate and decelerate randomly while driving and idling in gear. The vehicle was at dealer for two weeks getting it repaired. They replaced throttle body control twice before problem was eliminated. Second the cvt transmission failed, wrench and traction control lights would come on and vehicle would lose all drive power, would do it about every 10 miles eventually before the dealer finally agreed the transmission was bad. They rebuilt it twice and still had same problem, they took it to a transmission shop finally to have it repaired. Vehicle was in the shop over a month for this. I do not look forward to future repair cost knowing that this will continue to be a problem since Ford nor the NHTSA will do a [xxx]thing about it. The contact owns a 2006 Ford Freestyle. The vehicle lunged forward and backward whether or not the brakes were depressed. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. She stated that the transmission failed. The failure and current mileages were 90,000.

Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Ford Freestyle. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 mph, the vehicle began to accelerate without the accelerator pedal being depressed. The contact also stated that while the air condition was on the vehicle accelerated without warning. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body failed needed to be repaired and the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure was persistent. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate mileage was approximately 80,000. Ec.

A 2007 Ford Freestyle transmission failure. It was only a few thousand miles out of warranty and barely 3 years old. This is a transmission issue with the cvt transmission that everyone in the industry seems to be fully aware of and Ford refuses to stand behind their product. However, Ford is happy to charge me $5000 to have it fixed by them. I am very disappointed in their lack of integrity of standing behind their product.

Vehicle would surge while parked in reverse or forward. Withthe foot on the brake vehicle would actually lurch in movement several feet. One time almost hitting a pedestrian. Thbe transmission failed due to a failed inlet shaft bearing which was caused by incorrect machining of the inlet shaft.

Unexpected transmission failure in brisk traffic. No warning lights issued on the dash until failure, dealer saw no codes on the computer.

Transmission failure requiring total new transmission in vehicle less than 3 years old.

While driving along the freeway. The car made a hard shift, then the transmission failed. The car would not accelerate, and we had to coast across 3 lanes of traffic to get out of harms way. I have been on edmunds. Com and there are other reports from people who have had the same problem with the same make and model. The transmission failed without any previous problems or indications of problems. During the repair, we found out the input shaft came unwelded, other people with similar cars have had the same problem.
