37 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2021

The brake pedal intermittently requires much more travel to engage a normal braking effort. The vehicle was stopping at a stop sign, with a right turn imminent. The vehicle was able to come to a safe stop, but this condition could make avoiding an accident difficult or impossible if aggressive braking is required and not available, or gives the driver the sensation that braking is not occurring normally. This happens several times over the course of a month.

42 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2020

Recall 19s54/NHTSA 19v-904 opened on 12/18/19 2008 100,000k miles Ford Fusion abs hydraulic brake problem. I originally received a letter from Ford in Jan 2020. It stated parts should be available late 1q of 2020. I received a 2nd letter October 2020 stating parts should be available late 1q of 2021. On Dec 30, 2020, my wife was driving the car when she tried to brake at a stop light during normal traffic but wet conditions. The brake pedal went down to the floor, but did not immediately stop the car, causing the car to swerve. My mechanic and I also experienced this problem with poor braking. The mechanic advised that he could not repair the problem without the proper part from Ford. I opened a case (cas-29149078) with Ford regarding the recall with numerous representatives. The last person at Ford I spoke with was eunise, a manager (800-392-3673) who told me to take the car to dealer currie motors in frankfort IL for a diagnosis. The dealer can then diagnose it and then request parts thru Ford. I spoke with the parts mgr (john) and advisor (joe k) who told me that I would need to pay for the diagnosis ($150) and that no parts are available. The car is often driven on interstate 355, so the car cannot be driven safely. It is now being garage kept and undriven until repairs can be made (advised by my insurance company). This is a replacement for NHTSA case #11387712.

43 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/29/2020

Received a noticed for recall on hcu and brakes in late 2019, stating that parts would be available in early 2020. I was approaching the red light when I applied the brakes and they were depressed fully and the car began rumbling but was not stopping at all. The conditions were slightly wet, humid, and cold. I called Ford to ask about the parts and they stated that the most information they have now is that parts would be available sometime in the first quarter of 2021. I believe Ford is being reckless with people's lives due this very late delay in getting the proper parts out. Even the recall stated that the hcu may be replaced at the discretion of the mechanic, so even when the parts are available, Ford may still not repair the vehicle correctly. What a shame.

47 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/08/2020

The recall for the abs was sent to notify Ford owners in late December 2019. When this notice was sent the paperwork stated that a remedy would be found by "end of first quarter 2020". It is now November 8th, 2020 and there has been no update that there has not been a remedy made available for these owners. If we want to be technical end of first quarter of 2020 is March, we are now approaching 8 months past that official notice. I would like and I am sure other owners would like an update as to when the remedy will be made available. I have had many issues with my breaking system and had to have parts of the automatic breaking system replaced due to this recall while having to pay for it on my own.

58 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/21/2020

I was told by a uftring Ford they were waiting on manufacturer and was directed to call Ford. I called Ford and they told me nhsta was still determining what they were willing to fix and to call them and that they were told by NHTSA that it would be end of 3rd quarter 2020 before the recall was fixed. My brakes will go from really soft taking 20 feet or better to stop with the pedal to the floor but at other times will stop normal just with soft break pedals. My car spends it's days parked and we do well with just one car but if I could trust my car to drive it to work I would but until this is fixed I can't. It's value makes it hard to sell especially with the recall.

63 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/13/2020

Brakes began to travel to floor cutting down reaction time, but would stop car if plenty of time was available. Research showed in Jan, 2020 that a recall had been initiated for defective hcus that causes brakes to go to the floor to stop. Car could not be safely operated and oxmoor Ford dealership was contacted numerous time, but they stated they couldn't do the repair because Ford had not provided them parts. This continued for 6 months and car could not be safely operated. In July an online appointment with oxmoore Ford in lou, ky was made for July 13, 2020. The car was dropped off on Sunday night to be worked on Monday morning. Approx 4 hours after the appointment time, dealer called and said car was ready. When we went to the dealership, they advised that they didn't have parts to fix the car. We refused to take it back, informed them it was dangerous to drive, and demanded it be repaired per the recall. A couple days later, dealership called and said they could not get parts to fix the recall and doubted if they could fix it for months. We then informed the dealership that we will not accept the car until it's repaired and that we were filing a complaint with the us transportation board and seeking an attorney. At the time of filing this report, dealership has yet to respond. Numerous attempts to contact Ford this met with negative results.

64 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2020

I purchased this vehicle in November of 2019 with approximately 161,000 miles on it. Between December of 2019 and April, 2020, I experienced 3 incidents where if I hit a pothole with my foot on the brakes, afterward the pedal would sink low to the floor and required aggressive effort to stop the vehicle. On these 3 occasions, if I parked the car after a few hours the problem would correct itself. I also received a letter from Ford in January 2020 advising of the safety recall (notice # 19s54, NHTSA recall # 19v-804) stating that parts would be available in the first quarter of 2020. With covid-19 about, I didn't have to drive much. On June 30th, 2020 a driver in front of me panic stopped which forced me to do the same on a street with dry conditions. After 2 days the same problem persisted so I contacted Ford customer service, who advised me to set up an appointment to bring the car in. I did so and dropped the car with ernesto at red mccombs Ford in san antonio, TX on July 6th, 2020. The dealer supplied me with a rental through enterprise. On July 7th, dealer calls and tells me they could not find the problem and that I owed them $149 diagnostic fee and had to pay for the rental. I called Ford customer service and complained. They gave me a ticket number (cas27013862) and told me to wait to hear from a service manager (that call never came). I also had to pay $162 for the additional insurance I had on the rental. On July 22nd, 220, the dealer calls and asks what I am doing with the rental. I told them that I opened the above referenced case with Ford and gave them the case number. They were unaware of this fact. On July 23rd, 2020 I received another call from the dealer who advised that Ford closed the case. I called Ford again who advised on 4 seperate occasions during the call that the case was open and in progress. Ford then told me to call the service department.

67 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2020

My wife rear ended someone. She was unable to stop. Luckily nobody was seriously injured. We have been complaining about the breaks to Ford for two years. About 6 months ago Ford finally acknowledged the issue which is below. The mechanic at Ford in petaluma, CA said our car was unsafe to drive but they are stillllllllllll waiting on parts. It was promised 1st qtr of 2020 but that has passed. I am confident the accident would not have taken place if the breaks worked as they should. "safety risk this may result in extended brake pedal travel required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. The condition does not result in a loss of braking function and the vehicle can be brought to a controlled stop.
