I noticed today there is a Ford recall for 2012 through 2018 Ford focus for a faulty part that could lead to engine stalls. The recall states a malfunctioning valve that could result in inaccurate fuel level readings and potentially engine stalls or an inability to restart the vehicle. This is exactly what I have been experiencing in my 2010 Ford Fusion. While I am driving and start to slow down at a stop sign or to turn the corner the engine stalls and jerks and then it goes away until the next time I slow down or turn. I believe this to be the same situation as the current recall for the Ford focus. Driver side door can't lock.

There were two events with the electronic throttle cutting off while driving, though, engine did not stall, requiring reset by turning off the ignition then restarting the car. At the time the throttle cutting off there was a yellow wrench indicator light light on my dash. This mimics NHTSA action number: pe13003, however, this action number does not include my VIN number.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 10 mph, the engine stalled without warning and the wrench warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart but the failure recurred on multiple occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was unable to be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 46,219.
When accelerating the cars engine suddenly stalls. Had to stop , and turn off the car completely, and re-start.
Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while accelerating from a stop sign, the engine stalled as the wrench warning icon illuminated. The vehicle was restarted and began to perform normally. The contact stated that the issue was recurring. The vehicle was not repaired or diagnosed. The manufacturer was not notified of the incident. The approximate failure mileage was 79,000. Kmj.
My 2010 Ford Fusion begins to shake, vibrate and then the engine stalls without warning, while driving in traffic. This happens while driving at either interstate speeds or city driving speeds. I have to stop, place my car in park and restart the engine. I have come close to being rear ended by a car behind me, both on the intersate and on city streets.

The vehicle was coming to a stop and the engine lost power and stalled. This has occurred two time in the past 4 weeks. The vehicle had been driven at least a few miles before this occurred both times. Put the vehicle in park and it started immediately and I was able to drive away. The vehicle appears to not be idling to slow.
Car idling rough, engine stalls multiple times when at idle or slow (parking lot) speeds. Multiple occurrences over several days. Read that it was a very common problem with these Ford Fusion cars, being the throttle body. Verified with mechanics. No trouble codes given by on board computer. Several days later, engine stalled while driving on the interstate at speeds of 65-70mph. This has continued happening from time to time, even after cleaning of the throttle body that is on national backorder. Idle issues also continue. Still no trouble codes given by the on board computer.
Throttle body shorted battery and caused engine to stall in traffic. When trying to restart, engine sped up fast became very dangerous. Ford has these throttle bodys on back order. . . Thats sad. Pls recall ASAP before someone loses their life.
While accelerating, cruising or at idle, the engine stalls then dies. When restarting engine stumbles badly and dies. This happens in traffic, accelerating into intersections, at highway speeds, etc. Mil is now on constantly. Vehicle is completely unusable because it is past the warranty period. We will be replacing the throttle body at our own expense, but would like Ford to reimburse us.
Driving on 295 n bound at approximately 70 mph the engine just stalled. . . The little wrench light came on along with the engine light. I tried giving it gas but I could not get it to go so I had to fight the traffic to get over to the shoulder and shut it off. I attempted to start it and on the second try it did but felt like it was running on 2 cylinders. So I let it sputter along the shoulder to the exit where I shut it off and let it sit for a few minutes then tried it again, it started and I was able to get it to a advanced auto parts store where they plugged in the tester and got a throttle actuator error code. I got it started and it drove ok till I got home but haven't used it yet. This car did have a problem a few weeks ago but I thought it was just a glitch because it just ran rough and then went back to normal. Now I'm reading about other Fusions having the same problem.
Car engine unexpectedly jerked and rpms locked at 1000 no matter what was done with gas pedal. Did not recover until turned off and then on. Repeated over the next several days. Also engine would stall when trying to idle. Resolution was replacement of faulty throttle body assembly.
The engine stalls and throttle becomes on responsive . When the vehicle is shut off and restarted it is fine for a while . This occured three times in the last three weeks . I do alot of highway driving and this is a very dangerous problem .
After starting the vehicle and beginning to accelerate, at approximately 20 miles per hour the engine lost rpm, would not respond to acceleration attempts and caused the car to stall. An engine warning light came on. Repeated restarts of the engine met with low rpm and surging engine conditions which would not "settle down" before the engine stalled again. After leaving the engine off for about 30 minutes, I was finally able to succesfulply restart the vehicle and cautiously drive it to the local Ford dealership (for diagnostic testing and repair the next business day - tomorrow, June 3rd). This is the second occurence of this problem which previously occutrred on February 19, 2013. [see NHTSA odi reference number 10500133].
I was driving down the road at 45 mph and the engine stalled. It was v ery dangerous but I did not get into an accident. I waited a few minutes and started the car back up and it worked fine for about two miles and did the same thing again. I found out through Ford that it was the throttle body and even the dealership admitted it was becoming a big problem. The part is back ordered for a month and it was not covered under warranty. Ford should admit the problem and recall the part before someone gets really hurt.
While driving on I-49 so. , approx. 60 mph in peak morning traffic, the engine stalled. Luckily I was able to pull over to the shoulder. Noticed a "wrench" icon lit on dash. Turned off engine and after a few minutes, re-started engine. All clear on dash, so continued on to work. Called hub city Ford and brought car in the next morning. The "throttle body" was changed. No other warning or lights came on.
Date and mileage of incident are guesses. Has happened on multiple occasions. When driving vehicle on highway or local roads, engine stalls as if it had no power, however, the tachometer indicates engine still running. Each time this occurs, vehicle has to be steered on to shoulder. When pulling onto shoulder, it vibrates tremendously. After it stops, you must put it into park, then restart the engine. Brought vehicle to goodyear where it was identified as a p2111 fault. It was suggeted that it be brought to a local Ford dealer for servicing. Brought to the local Ford dealership a week ago. Confirmed as p2111 fault. Part had to be ordered which took approximatley 6 days to receive. As of this complaint, still waiting on service to be completed.
3. 0l engine stalling out. Had to replace throttle body for $355. 78.
Driving down the highway going to work and the engine kept loosing power took it to Ford once and they said it was a bad fuse got it back and drove it to work again and the engine stalled out 7 times within 2 miles I had to have it towed back to Ford and they said my throttle body broke and needed replaced.
While driving engine cut out causing the car to stall in traffic. I brought the car to the Ford dealership and it was diagnosed as a faulty fuel injector #2. Same issue happened approximately 5000 miles later then again 10000 miles later. Each time the vehicle was brought to a Ford dealership.
When driving the vehicle it will seemingly randomly bring the engine down to idle or stall the car completely and send a p2111 or p2112 error code (throttle body stuck open/close, respectively) and the car needs to be completely shut off in order to bring the car back into a normal running state. Resetting the car does not guarantee that the issue will go away, and about 40-50% of the time the car stalls again right after attempting to re-enter traffic. This issue will commonly happen when making turns, although it is not limited to that situation.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated the engine would intermittently stall without warning and lose all power. The dealer performed diagnostic testing and found the air filter was not properly installed and was causing the vehicle to stall. The failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where they were unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer advised there could be no repairs made to the vehicle until the failure was able to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 900 and the current mileage was approximately 14,000. Updated10/27/10.
