general problems of the 2010 Ford Fusion - part 1

The throttle body failed. It is not available for inspection because it was replaced. While driving on a high-speed road, the engine felt like it shuddered, and the car lost engine power and would no longer accelerate. At the same time, the light shaped like a wrench came on. Our safety was therefore put at risk because we could now barely accelerate, and could easily have been rear-ended. The problem was confirmed and repaired by an independent service center. After doing the repair, the service center informed us that there was a Ford customer satisfaction service bulletin (13no3) for this problem. We called Ford about this bulletin and were told that the bulletin was limited to ten years or 150,000 miles, whichever came first. Even though our car is over ten years old, it only has 87,000 miles on it.

Brakes are spongy and need to be pumped to stop vehicle in a timely manner. Brake fluid flush, brake pads and rotors did not solve the problem. The 2010 Ford Fusion se has a recall dealing with a similar issue, but my specific VIN is not a part of the mass recall. No warning lamps or messages came on, but the brake pedal almost goes all the way to the floor to stop the vehicle. My safety and another cars safety were at risk because my brakes do not respond quickly enough to come to a complete stop if someone drives out in front of me or if I am simply coming to a stop at a red light or parking. I will be taking my car to the nearest Ford dealership in the next 2 days to have the braking system inspected and confirmed.

There was no incident this happened after. It literally just started a couple months ago out of nowhere. I tried to diagnose it myself. But the code was b-1342-e0 which is an ecu fault. I paid for a diagnostic to find out it was actually the abs module sending the fault code to ecu. After some research, it appears 2010 Fusions had a history of this abs issue. Not sure why there is no recall, seeing as this could be a life threatening issue.

The abs hydraulic control unit (hcu) fails which causes the brake pedal to require more force to stop vehicle. The safety of those driving and pedestrians are at risk due to the added stopping distance. I took my car to a mechanic that my father frequents, and was told that only the dealer could fix it. I than took it in to a Ford dealership and they confirmed the issue but wanted to charge me an insane price. There was no warning or indication of a problem prior to the hcu failure. The fact that only Ford can service the issue doesn't seem right to me, cause they can charge whatever to fix it.

The recalled item that was suppose to have been fixed malfunctioned. The abs brake modulator had malfunctioned leaving me with pretty much no brakes. One minute I had brakes the next nothing. My car was taken to monroe the week before for tires. They noticed nothing wrong I had also put new brake pads on. The car should of not had its brakes just go out like it did. Had I been on the highway or driving over 30 I wouldn't of been able to stop. I could of died from a recalled item that was suppose to have been fixed so I would of never ended up in the situation I was in. No brakes barely able to stop going less than 10 miles at a traffic circle. Luckily god was on my side, it wasn't busy at the intersection and I didn't have to stop. If I did I would of smacked right into the other vehicle since I didn't know my brakes weren't working correctly. They where there then nothing. Foot went right down to the floor still barely did anything to stop. Slowed the car down very very minimally. The repair shop was a nightmare. Ford of greenwiche had my car for over a month. When they said it was fixed it wasn't. We where also charged by them for the replacement of the brake modulator which was a defect by the company that we shouldn't of been charged for. Also numerous things where done wrong by thos company and I feel that no one should ever have to go through what I did with them. The lack of care, putting the repair off, lack of organization, faulty repair-just to name a few. I would like restitution for my time and the cost of the repair for the abs modulator. The car was taken to monroe before Ford for this problem. My boyfriend who is a licensed mechanic has stated as well that this part should not of malfunctioned this way and it should be covered by recall.

My vehicle shut off while driving. When it shut off, the battery and the oil light flashed and then away. This incident occurred five times in one night. The car started to jerk right before each time it shut off, and I was driving less than 20 miles per hour. I could not accelerate nor press on the brakes to stop be vehicle. I took it to southern tire in waldorf, MD, and no codes during the diagnostic were triggered in the system.

When driving I am having to push my break peddle to the floor in order for my breaks to finally activate and begin to slow the car down if breaks will work at all at time. This is intermittent but is happening more often and has almost causing multiple wrecks. I was told it is the hydraulic control module by a multiple professionals. This is also recalled on 2010 Ford Fusion models but does not include vehicle at the moment.

Electric power steering fault. Power steering is hard to turn. 2011 and 2012 have recalled approved for the same thing but why not for a 2010??.

The vehicle's power steering shut off completely upon turning on the vehicle. Dashboard message appeared "power steering assist fault" - in the past the vehicle has demonstrated intermittent power steering failure including a few times while driving. On these very few occasions (twice to be exact) - once in a very safe residential area pulling out of a parking space and once while taking the exit ramp on a hig-traffic interstate putting the owner and passengers and other drivers at risk --- the owner was able to stop the vehicle safely, place in park and turn off engine very briefly and turn on vehicle and the power steering would return. However, the latest message is constant and power steering fluid level is normal but power steering has not returned. Owner has taken a car to a repair shop and the lead mechanic has stated that this isn't the first time that a Ford Fusion has shown up with this mechanical failure. Utilizing the VIN # the mechanic was unable to confirm a callback for powersteering failure for the Ford Fusion 2010 but did verify that similar issues have caused a callback for the Ford Fusion later models (2011-2014).

The passenger airbag has not been replaced but I have a work order from my local dealership claiming they completed the recall. And my power steering/advance trac and automatic breaking system are not working. My power steering locked up on me driving 70 mph going down the highway. 3 of my 4 interior door latches have come apart and broke causing us to have to roll the window down to get out of the vehicle. There are a couple more items that should be considered safety recalls that are not on my model and year, but are covered on other years before and after my year.

Occasionally the power steering system will fail as the vehicle is moving. It has occurred several times and always at low speeds. This could easily cause an accident. I have not had the problem analyzed. The dash will display a “power steering assist fault “ message as the failure occurs.

Passenger side floor gets wet everytime rain/snow. Recall covers other yr Ford's : 15b21 this is getting worse over time and can't put nothing on floor and when it's cold feet get cold. Using paper towels/ towels/ mildew spray. Please help so it can be looked at. I know I'm not the only one with this issue.

My son wasn't able to open the driver side door from the inside. He was in our driveway. I saw other people had this problem.

The passenger door latch broke on the inside making the locking mechanism not work or the outside latch . I have seen a recall on other models and makes for this but not mine .

Engine light, advance trac light, abs light, battery light, tire pressure monitoring system light, alarm light suddenly came on. Then dash went completely blank. Headlights went out,lost control of vehicle at high speed. Dash lights came back on stirring control of vehicle lost. All dash lights started flashing. Breaking system not working.

On the way to work, I suddenly got 2 alerts "service advancetrac" and "service power steering". I was worried, but steering felt ok to me at the time, I decided to go back home. . . I left car in middle of street with hazards, I turned the car off, then back on to see if errors would clear. After it started this time, the power steering was completely off, new alerts "service advancetrac" and "service powersteering now". Car is now stuck, and unable to be safely driven. It took me 5 minutes to get the car into our parking spot. Steering wheel is barely able to be turned with extreme force. I'm disgusted to see that many, many other complains have been reported for 2010 Ford Fusion with the same exact issues, some resulting in serious car crashes and other injuries, and no recall. It is insane to me that there is no recall on this car. I have no clue what would have happened if I had continued along to work on the beltway, as my life would have certainly been in danger if this locked while I was driving. I've driven cars with no power steering before, but this steering wheel is completely locked, I have no clue how I am going to get it to the dealer without towing costs.

Fusion brakes have lost pressure and pedal basically goes to the floor before it engages. There is a recall on this (19v904000) but was cut off a few months before mine was built. I have had brakes changed, bled, and master cylinder inspected to be told it’s the same problem as the recall, except not covered on mine. I want to make NHTSA aware this problem is bigger than the covered recall and Ford will not do anything for me. Also, the same with my purge valve. I’ve had a trouble with my vehicle starting, always after filling up gas, even have a code stating it is my evap/purge. Recall (15v793000) again, my vehicle falls outside of the recall so Ford will not help. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to encourage Ford to assist with at minimum the faulty breaking system, preferably both issues. Either way, I wanted to submit the issue so NHTSA has record of the ongoing issue with Ford. Thanks :-).

My Fusion was on recall for the lug nuts. I took my car in for the replacement lug nuts. The new lug nuts are not the same size. I found that out by rotating my tires. The lug ranch from my car does not fit properly. The covering over the lug nuts that supports the hub caps stripped when trying to loosen the bolts. A standard four way lug wrench would not fit also. I was fortunate my neighbor was home who had a air gun. He had to use a different size socket to even get them loose. The lug nut covers on the lug nuts are a different size then the old recall ones. I never had a problem before removing the old ones with the lug ranch that was provided with my car. If I have a flat while driving theirs no way of changing the flat unless you have an air gun and a certain size socket. I have a friend who drives a Ford Fusion that had a tire that needed to be changed. They ran into the same problem with the new lug nuts. They had to call a tire store to come out to their home with an air wrench and a certain size socket to remove the lug nuts. Ford motor company needs to address this problem. Which I doubt they will. They haven't replace the hcu yet on my car that I received a recall on a year ago. Which ending up causing me to wreck the car when my brakes failed and causing damages to my car.

The car he had sold me was not fix or ready to be sold . He basically scammed me out my money he sold me a lemon car. Its drivable yes but its not . The dealer keep saying its alot of work to trade my car in . I told him about everything thats wrong with the car. I had to pay for the back breaks , wheel alignment, new tires and all that together was 1000$. Now I still have to fix the axle which is 500 plus my car is smoking cause alot of safety hazards like almost causing car accidents because the smoking from the car is heavy. He also gave me false information about the car . Its been 2 recalls and been in a accident. He lied and said he did my registration but he did not and also said the car came with plate and it did not! I cant do payments on the car regular now because the car is basically breaking down. Im trying to get my full entire refund back the 500$ down payment plus the $980 back from the payments . I got scammed . The car hesitates alot and when im driving the car starts swerving and also will shake . The breaks squeaky again and I have to keep putting oil in everyday . He told me he took $1000 off of the car because thats the loan that his banking gave me but he did not! my balance on paying for this car been $5400 left for the longest and I been paying for this car like im suppose to , on time . I got the car from kings auto llc.

Interior ac blower motor failure. Same issue in a previous 2010 Ford Fusion. Air would fluctuate on and off and then will die completely. Nothing fixes the issue besides replacing blower motor and resistor.

A/c does not blow cold air even if the compressor is working and if is full of refrigerant. Have taken the vehicle to repair shop and they are unable to find issues. . Read more...

I bought a 2010 Ford Fusion automatic transmission, 105000 miles. After 4 months, noticed a transmission fluid leak from drivers side. Mechanic replaced the seal and left cv shaft. I paid $580 for the repair. Car broke down after driving 3 miles after repair. Had to tow back to the shop. They changed the seal again but I noticed the oil leak again. Few days later it got worst and now I have been told that the axcel, seal and bushing needs to be replaced. The cost of the repair is now $600. I read in a lot of forums that this is a common issue with Ford Fusions. I wish I had known about this issue earlier. Would have never bought Ford Fusion.

My power steering has now failed twice while the car was in motion. Both times I had to turn off my car and turn it back on to get the power steering to work again. Both times, it happened on a city street while I was making a turn.

My power steering when out in a curve. No warning at all!! I had my mother and my 2 year old daughter in the car at the time. I slid off the road and messed up my car and hurt me and my mother. My daughter thank god was not hurt thanks to her car seat. Ford told me this was my problem! why is this car not recalled for this problem?.

When operating my vehicle it makes audible breaking sounds. When coming to a stop you can hear the screeching of brakes. It was light, but it seem's like it's getting louder though. This happens when driving in town on the streets.

For a second time on this car, the drivers side door handle broke. I paid for the repair the first time, but Ford says the warranty has expired on this 2nd handle. I wrote to Ford and explained that this part is evidently decective . . . 2 times the same part broke. They replied they do not have any recall in effect. Now I cant lock the car.

I dont own this car but I was seriously thinking about accouring this car till when I looked up the VIN and it had an old open recall on the airbags that the car company selling it should atleast tell you there is. I realize facebook may not be the best online service to use to buy a vehicle but the dealership should have at the least mentioned the recall and what thwy should uave already done was have it talen in an fixed for the safety of its client its crazy. Please get ahold of the dealship who owns this car and tell them to get the recall taken care off thank you. There are cars that have this recalls that should be talen care of as soon as the obtained them. I've noticed that facebooka car marketplace has alot of cars for sale with open recalls some a couple months old and some over 10 years old please look into this dealership on facebook trying to sell cars with recalls on them an young kid or older lady may not even think about looking up the vins to see if there is an open recall buy the car and then possible die or get severly hurt because these dealerships didn't take car of all recalls that open on car on there lot. I would never ever sell someone a car with an open recall even if it was very minor, so how can these dealerships go unchecled selling open recall cars, heres ita VIN 3fahp0ja8ar379262 please for god sake make it to where nobody can sell a car on any website without gettimg iy fixed or explaining there is one and offer to get it fixed before they buy or if they buy get it towed to get thw recall fixed.

Replaced recalled airbag will not work per dealer due to defect during recalled airbag installing. New airbag will not deploy during an accident driver door handle can only be opened if window is left down and door handle is pulled from the outside.

Driver side door handle will not open from the inside. Door will unlock and door handle can be pulled but does not activate the mechanism that opens the door. Need to use a passenger door or roll down the window to open from outside door handle.

There is a mass problem with Fusions and the ac. Ford doesn't know what the fix is, the dealers don't know what the fix is. They just keep replacing stuff. The problem is the ac blows cold. . Then stops and blows hot. Freon is full, compressor works fine, no leaks, no codes reported when codes are read. This guy on youtube has documented the problem and a work around he found. This should not be a work around and Ford should get to the bottom of what is causing this problem and stop charging people for unnecessary repairs that don't fix the problem. My dealer had my car for 3 days tested everything, couldn't find any problems gave my car a green bill of health. . Drove off the lot after the green bill of health on a hot day. Ac stopped working on the way home with exact same symptoms I took it in for. The Ford dealership has been trying to fix this on my vehicle for 1. 5 years and have yet to figure out what the problem is. Here is the video of the workaround. . Read more...

The car stalls and shifts gears after stopping at a red light or stop sign then after moments of pressing the gas pedal it spins off and jerks really hard on a freeway it rides very well it only stalls after waiting at a light or stop sign or tapping onto the break also the car has new break pads but it sounds like something is scrubbing and while I was backing out of a parking lot the car made a huge popping and threw me back while my foot was on the break it scared me so I got out to see what happened and I didn't hit anything nor did anything hit me so I tried to drive home and the car jerked the entire way home almost.
