36 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2013

On Friday evening (5/10/2013), I had just exited the interstate when the wrench light came on and the car suddenly appeared to stall (engine was running, but had no acceleration). With traffic stacking up behind me, I managed to get the car off the road and turned it off. After sitting for a minute or two, I restarted the car and continued down the road. The car died again less than two miles later. Vehicle was taken to the dealer the on following Monday 5/13/2013 (after sitting all weekend). The dealer checked the car and determined the throttle body was bad. As of today, 5/26/2013, the car is still at the dealer waiting on a replacement part.

37 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2013

I was stopped at a light and when the light changed the car got up to around 15mph when the car stalled. I then put the car in park and was able to restart it. It ran fine for a few days and then there was another incident. I was at another stoplight and made a right hand turn. The car stalled again and was able to be restarted after placing the gear in park.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer who determined there could be a problem with the throttle body. The throttle body was cleaned and the failure occurred within two weeks. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but the vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was unknown. The current mileage was 15,797.

39 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2013

I purchased a 2011 Ford Fusion on 2/28/13 with just 24,320 miles. Approximately 1 month later I was having trouble starting my vehicle due to continual stalling. Initially, the vehicle will start (cold engine) in the morning without any problem. The problem occurs primarily when the engine is warm and almost daily. If I leave work at lunchtime to run an errand (4 hours later) the vehicle will stall numerous times and is followed with idling very high rpm?s (2,000). There is also a very strong smell of gasoline present. I took the vehicle back to the dealership to fix the problem. The dealership claimed they found nothing wrong. The problem continued and I again went back to the dealership for further inspection. The dealership kept my vehicle for 1 week and acknowledged the stalling problem and claimed that this is most likely due to the change over from winter gas to summer gas. On 6/15/13 I could not get the vehicle to start with the smell of gas present once again. After 2 hours of sitting in the garage I tried once again and the vehicle started up. I was so excited when I bought this vehicle and now I am much stressed, frustrated and wanting a new operable vehicle.

40 Car Stall problem

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician stated that the throttle body box would have to be replaced. There was an investigation under NHTSA action number: pe13003 (engine) that could have been related to the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure however, the vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.

41 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 02/21/2013

Had the vehicle for about a month but had only driven it about 600 miles. (Feb. 21, 2013 - 21,700 miles) my wife was driving along a 4 lane road doing about 50 mph when she noticed the car suddenly losing power. She was in the left hand lane with no shoulder or room to move to the right lane because of traffic and was almost rear-ended by a dump truck who had no idea she was rapidly slowing down because she wasn't putting on any brake to indicate this. She brought the vehicle to a stop but it would not move even when the gas pedal was depressed. She thought it had stalled but later told me she didn't notice any dash lights on. She turned the key off and restarted it and it ran fine the rest of the way home. Called Ford dealership where it was purchased and he asked about engine code lights (of which none were showing ). He said without a code he couldn't do anything. ( March 7, 2013 - 22,400 miles ) turning a corner from a stop the car accelerated and then lost power, engine seemed to sputter and run rough, pulled over and stopped. Wrench light on dash was on, depressed accelerator pedal but nothing happened. Engine was running but tachometer didn't move at all when accelerator was depressed. Turned engine off, restarted, wrench light went off and ran ok. Have also noted that transmission shifting is not always shifting as smooth as when we first started driving it. It seems to jump or lurch in at least one of the gears but this is just an intermittent problem right now. I will take note of this and report back. 43 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2013

I bought this 2011 Ford Fusion at 40,000 miles and since it has been at 45,000 miles I been having stalling and idle problems . I thought I was going crazy until I seen an article in the news today . My car has stalled on the hwy to where on numerous occasions I have almost been hit. I have had to pull over and restart it. I also see the wrench when it happens. I also have been sitting still at lights to where my car would idle up real fast. My car also pops and gets stuck when I change gears. I hate this car. I just pray something gets done before someone really gets hurt including myself . . . .

44 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 12/11/2012

The car just will just stall out while driving on freeway or street. I know from what I have read that it is the throttle body. It loses all power and just dies while driving. This has happened multiple times and the last time my kids and I almost died in the car. It is awful how this happened and the part was backordered and is extremely expensive to fix.

45 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 11/16/2012

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while traveling 62 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The contact was able to merge to the side of the road to restart the vehicle. The vehicle seemed to be functioning normally when the failure recurred. The vehicle was able to be driven to the contact's destination and was not taken to a mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the issue. The failure and current mileages were 56,000.

46 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2012

My car will randomly stall out. The engine will shut off while driving and come to a rough stop. When this happens a wrench comes up on the dashboard. Now when this started happening the events were few and far between. Recently its gotten so bad that I was on the interstate and this happened to me 9 times in under a mile. When I take it to get the readout the computer says code p2112.

47 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2012

Anytime vehicle slows to a speed of approx. 20 mph. ,it seems to want to stall then seconds later without touching gas pedal, speeds up and excelerates. I have had the vehicle in for service to village Ford / dearborn michigan and they continually tell me no problem is detected. I have had several indivuals drive my vehicle and have experienced the same issue. I have also located an article from my local news chanel wxyz speaking of this issue, stating it was not yet serious enough for recall. With Ford motor's history I would say this needs to be looked into before serious injury does occur.

48 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2011

On a few separate occasions, while either sitting in traffic at a light or driving my 2011 Ford Fusion has stalled in the middle of traffic. It hasn't happened for a few months and there is no rhyme or reason to when it will happen. When the stalling occurs the car literally shuts down in the middle of traffic and I have to restart the car to proceed.

49 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2011

This happened sometime back, however it could be related to your current investigations. When I had approx 1900 miles on the car and while I was going around 70 mph, the car went into limp mode and I lost all throttle control. After nearly getting hit from behind from a truck (cause I lost speed), I managed to pull over to safety and saw I had no throttle response. I turned off the car, and then turned it back on to find it out it wouldn't start. So I turned it off once again, waited 20 or so seconds, and turned the car back on and proceeded to work. Later on that night, I pulled the codes off the system and kept them as pictures (p2104 and p2112) just in case the codes cleared (cold cycle). Sure enough I go to the dealer the next day, no codes found and there is nothing they (Ford) can do. I showed them the pictures, however I was still turned away. Later on at around 7500 miles, this happened again and this time I was close enough to the dealer to run the codes. They performed TSB 11-4-23 on the engine throttle body and ecu, and installed a new wiring harness. Little did I know at the time, but this states that under rare conditions the engine will emit those codes while the wipers are on.

50 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 12/14/2010

The vehicle will stop at random and will not move again until you put the vehicle in park and restart the vehicle. It has repeated several times and is getting worse. Today the car stalled 4 times.
