1 Engine Shut Off Without Warning problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2020

I've had my car for 5 years. 6 months after I purchased it it started showing transmission issues. It's almost like it gets stuck in a gear when trying to accelerate , and then it flings your forward. When driving up a hill it won't go over 30mph. I took it in over 2 years ago to Ford and was told a transmission recall for 2014 Ford Fusions was coming. 2 years later and I'm being told my car doesn't qualify but is showing all the signs that's listed on the recall. Just last week my car shut off while driving on the freeway with my kids in the car. Since it's happened 3 times. Since it started shutting off while driving a new issue has progressed. My car now jerks when trying to accelerate. If I have the heater in it smells like something is burning. We used a code reader and it told us transmission issues but Ford still says I don't qualify.

2 Engine Shut Off Without Warning problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2019

My cars engine shuts off after accelerating with no warning. No engine lights come on during the process and my car remains in motion but can't accelerate. The car starts to shake vigorously when right before shutting off. I need to shut off the car and turn it back on to get it going, but it becomes dangerous when on the road. I took it to a mechanic who can't determine the cause of the issue. This issue only happens after a second startup of the vehicle within an hour time of shutting off the vehicle for the first time. After restarting the vehicle after the second failed drive, everything works correctly again. All electrical systems keep working when the engine shuts off. Happened 12 different times for me since February.

3 Engine Shut Off Without Warning problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2019

My car is a 2014 Ford Fusion I purchased at the dealership 2 years ago. Never had a problem until recently. After I turn on my car and switch gear to "drive" my car will shut down within 20 feet. I have to park the car and wait a few minutes and try again; it always happens later on during the day when driving off a parking lot. The main problem is that the "check engine" light never comes of, but there is certainly a problem when the car shuts down on it's own; it never shuts off while driving at high speed, but I am truly concern with this matter. I took my car to the dealership to get to the bottom of the problem. I was advised it will cost me $110. 00 for a diagnostic, which I paid. I waited for 4 hours and according to the mechanic the antifreeze is mixing with the engine oil and that's what cause the car to stall occasionally and the cost of repair will be $2,100. 00. When I checked the car along with a personal mechanic there is no indication of anything mixing with the engine oil, the oil is clean is not milky and it smells fine. Bottom line I am not happy with the fact that there is no recall for this serious issue and even more so that Ford dealership was so dishonest about the car symptoms. Needless to say I will not buy a Ford again and still don't know what's wrong with my car.

8 Engine Shut Off Without Warning problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2014

I was exiting a freeway when I experienced my first problem. In the middle of traffic, my car shut off and I lost most functionality of the vehicle. The dashboard displayed an alert ¿transmission not in park. I was driving normally and did not press any buttons or make any adjustments to the gears. He only thing that was functioning was the brakes and steering wheel, I had no control over the gas. The problem happened again the next day. I was speeding up to get on to the freeway when my car shut off again, displaying the same message. However, this time, because it was night, the lights powered off and it was difficult to see what was ahead of me. I turned on my hazards and was forced to pull over to the side, place the car in park and restart the ignition and continue on. I called about the issue as soon as the Ford dealership opened the next day. They told me to bring it right in. However, the problem happened again before I had a chance to bring it in. I was driving on the freeway when I was trying to pass an 18 wheeler. I successfully passed the truck, but after I did, the power shut off again and I was sandwiched between two 18 wheelers. The next day, I brought the vehicle into the dealership. They took it off my hands for about a week while they tested it for problems. I received a call and the representative said that they fixed a cable that appeared to be loose that might have led to the problem, and also gave the car a software update. I was pleased with the response. A week later I was driving back home when the car shut off again. I immediately drove the car to the dealership. I called the Ford care team and they said they would open a case for a buyback. On sept 23, I received a voicemail from the dealership saying that they could not fix the vehicle because when they tested it it was functioning as it should. They can and will not fix or replace the vehicle.
