36 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2018

We just purchased this car. When we start out driving slow the car stalls. Pulling out into traffic from parking lots parking spots. It happens daily. Yesterday a car had to swerve not to hit us afterwe stalled and it did not start up rightaway.

37 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2018

While in motion, my 2014 Ford Fusion abruptly stopped accelerating. The vehicle did not turn off. The vehicle was able to drive for a few seconds (around 20 seconds) after driving out of the parking space, and afterwards it stopped accelerating. This happened to me while on the road and could have resulted in a serious accident to myself and others. It happened on more than one occasion. After getting two diagnoses from a Ford dealership, they said the issue had to do with the low side fuel pressure sensor. It was not functioning properly. They needed to replace it. Important to note is the fact that the check engine light was not on before or after the incident transpired. In other words, the vehicle's safety system gave no indication that the vehicle needed immediate attention. This safety defect is in breach of the national traffic and motor vehicle safety act. A vehicle should not abruptly stop accelerating while on the road as it can cause serious casualties to the owner and nearby vehicles. The fact that the vehicle's safety system/check engine light never came on is incredibly significant. This safety defect repair should be reimbursed to owners of this Ford vehicle.

38 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/29/2018

So I have a 2014 Fusion, bought pre-owned currently with about 16,000 miles. I recently noticed that my car when accelerating pauses to accelerate. This is especially noticeable trying to go from 0-60 as fast as possible. Also after slowing down and hitting the gas pedal it almost feels like no power is being applied to the engine momentarily. I was stationary, then in motion below 10mph crossing an intersection on a city street and to my right a vehicle was doing 40+ in a 25 and flew over a hill and almost hit me. When I went to accelerate to get out of his way, this is when I noticed the problem, I slammed the gas and didn't move until a literal second later, luckily he slammed his brakes and nothing happened. Reason unknown, however after experimenting in a safe environment some more, I noticed that it only really happens in drive, not sport. Although it is an automatic, they split up these sections and probably different "chips" that dictate these controls. It could be a delay between pressing the pedal and receiving power. Unfortunately, I cannot drive the vehicle and record at the same time as I don't have a safe way of doing so, and it looks like you don't allow video to be uploaded anyway. The vehicle currently has 27,000, model se, 2. 5l engine, semi-automatic transmission. Again, does delay in acceleration in drive, not sport.

39 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2018

While driving in traffic the vehicle would stall, necessitating re-start and normal operation. Replacement of part # bu5z*9f972*b sensor fixed the problem.

40 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/07/2018

Very dangerous safety hazard with my 2014 Ford Fusion. I have been having issues with my car stalling on me. Typically it happens when I am leaving a parking lot or gas station, pulling away from a stop sign/light, or reversing from a parking spot and shifting back into drive. It will sputter, the rpm needle rapidly fluctuates above 1 and under 1, and then will just go to 0. At all times I am driving at low speeds, but numerous times I was either driving into a busy street or it stalled in an intersection where I or other people could have been seriously injured. This has happened about 10 times in the last 2 weeks, but it is very random. Some days will go by without a hitch and other days it will happen 2 or 3 times. Most of the time when it happens, it happens again right after. So I will put the car in park, completely shut it off, and turn it back on, it will drive for like 5-10ft and then do it again. I took it to the dealership, and they said they could not find an issue. The did a few test drives and let it sit and run for awhile, and the car didn't stall. There is no engine light on, so they said they can not diagnose the problem, unless they see it for themselves. This is very concerning to me as I am scared to drive, knowing that it could stall and I could get in an accident. I also drive for a ride sharing company, and it is too risky for me to pick up passengers knowing something could happen, and I would be responsible. This issue needs to be addressed right away as I know I am not the only one having this problem, which means there a a number of faulty cars on the road that can just stall out at any moment and cause fatal accidents. I am scared to drive this car! this has been an on-going issue that has gradually gotten worse, and thankfully I have managed to stay accident free. (I have attached other complaints).

41 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/31/2018

Vehicle door spring. Door may come open at any given time while driving or not driving. There's a recall on this car.

42 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2018

My car is stalling after it is driven for 15-20 mins. Once the car is turned off, if it is started within the next hour, it always stalls out. I see that Ford Fusion had a similar issue that was recalled. This is the note that I saw online for the Ford focus recall, "Ford is recalling nearly 1. 3 million focus compact cars in the u. S. Because a fuel system problem can cause the engines to stall without warning. The recall covers cars from 2012 through 2018 with 2-liter four-cylinder engines. " I have taken it to the dealership multiple times and they keep diagnosing it as a bad fuel sensors that need to be replaced. Well, I've replaced them already and the same problem keeps happening. I cannot afford to keep paying the dealer for something that I believe is an issue that they should be taking care of since their other vehicles were having the same issue.

43 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2017

The Ford Fusion on multiple occasions in the last 2 months has suddenly, without warning, lost full throttle power while driving (radio remains on), I. E. , gas stops flowing into engine despite attempting acceleration, and the car will on its own come to a stop. So far, have been able to pull over without incident, but obviously it's very scary! this generally occurs shortly after the car has had ignition turned on while driving on road generally at low speed - don't want to ever experience this happening on a highway! then I turn engine off a few seconds and attempt to restart - it often takes scarily longer after this power loss to restart, but it does restart. Could lead to life-threatening situations obviously!.

44 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2017

1) steering wheel is loose and getting looser. This happened on the freeway at 65mph. Almost lost control of the car. 2) car still thinks it is plugged in when unplugged. Will not allow vehicle to start without a new visual prompt confirming that the car is indeed unplugged.

45 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2017

When turning on the car and actually taking off driving the car will stop/ shut off all by itself and I have to restart it, while driving. The steering wheel will pull or jerk while driving. I have had my car looked at twice. Changed the battery and still can't figure out why it does it.

46 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2017

The car acts like it wants to shut off after fueling. If I sit at an idle it will start to run rough. While in motion there is a vibration humming sound coming from where you put the fuel in. If I press the flap it releases a buildup of gas fumes.

47 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2017

On multiple occasions, the engine would stall while driving and after a minute or two would surge forward. I have informed the Ford dealer of this problem since January 2017.

48 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/16/2016

Electronic throttle body. Car would go into limited power mode and then would cut off randomly and without warning.

49 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2016

Engine randomly stalls while driving in low and high speeds. The car is under 40,000 miles and have been faithfully serviced. No engine light present.

50 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2016

The O2 sensor has burnt out, & has been burnt out for a while. After refueling at any gas station the vehicle will not start up immediately after the key is turned. It takes several attempts to get the engine to recieve fuel & to turn over, and even then it struggles to start up or keep running. I have tried different patterns of pressing the gas pedal, alternating pressure & time without finding a reliable method. The vehicle has turned off if I do not keep the mph above 15mph for at least 10 minutes, & if I stop for longer than 60seconds, it sometimes turns off. This has caused issues in light traffic, especially with the difference in speed between my car shutting off & coasting, & cars passing at 25mph or greater. The dealership refuses to acknowledge that the O2 sensor has issues, but my personal mechanic had confirmed the issue after I had the vehicle inspected at a branch of the automotive repair chain midas. After having the sensor replaced at meineke in sept 2016, it burnt out again in October 2016. Attached is the repair reciept which we finally found today while packing for our move.

51 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2016

Car will hesitate when going down a hill and then accelerate, when try to accelerate the car will jerk and hesitate(2014, 2015, 2016 & 2017). . The rpm drops during these incidents and has reported to the service dept at capital Ford a few times since purchased the vehicle brand new in 2014(2014,2015,2016,2017,2018). Have replace lug nuts a few times (factory issued) they keep swelling and cracking(2016,2017& 2019). Oil leak between the engine and transmission(6/1/19). Dates varies. Problems still exist and on going.

52 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2016

Battery was initially not taking a charge, they said it was a defective module and replaced both the module and the rear back up camera which they said was draining the battery. In this case they had the car for 2 1/2 weeks before returning it to me . . About 4 days after I got it back the car started shuddering during a reverese position in a parking lot and died. . It started right up again. . The next day it lost all acceleration at a lower speed in stop and go traffic, once again it died but started right up again. It did this two more times once on the freeway the other time down the street from my home. Ford has had the car for 5 days (since 2/19/2016) now and says there is no codes or have been able to duplicate the problem. .

53 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2015

Tl-the contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 mph the vehicle started to shake and over heat before the vehicle stalled while exiting off the highway. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage 78,000. Ng.

54 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2015

The window sticker claiming epa/dot fuel economy and environment is deceptive. The window sticker claims 22 city and 31 highway per gallon for the Ford Fusion 2014. My car has 17000 miles and I would like to report that I'm not getting as claimed. I'm getting only 16 in city and 26 in highway driving. This false claim by Ford should be investigated.

55 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2014

Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that there was air in the fuel line. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was aware of the failure. The current and failure mileage was 300. The VIN was not available. Kmj.

56 Other Fuel System problem

57 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/29/2014

First I would like to state that this vehicle has a 6 speed manual transmission. I have had acceleration/ deceleration issues since I took delivery of the vehicle in January 2014, the issues are intermittent and happen at various rpm and various speeds. Ive had the vehicle at the dealership 3 times for the same issue they have told me 3 times that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. The problems are as follows. . . . When shifting gears the accelerator will occasionally stick and hold that higher rpm for 5 or 6 seconds before decelerating, this happens approx. 50% of the time while shifting. The dealer tells me that this is supposed to happen this way. My response is. . . If it is supposed to perform this way then why doesn't it perform this way all the time rather than 50% of the time? the second acceleration/ deceleration issue is. . . . The car will randomly accelerate to 5500- 6000 rpm, this has happened while driving 40 mph in 6th gear it has also happened while shifting between gears. When this happens it will maintain that high rpm for 5 or 6 seconds then decelerate. On one occasion I was driving in traffic at approx. 15 mph my car accelerated and this almost caused an accident, fortunately I was able to quickly depress the clutch and brake to avoid a collision. The issues listed above have happened multiple times and are random.

58 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2013

1. Both the check engine light and airbag light come on (at different times) while the car is being driven. 2. When cranking the engine during starting, the cranking time takes about 4-5 seconds. The extended crank time concerns me with respect to the longevity of the starter and battery wear. 3. The vehicle looses power when driving uphill. What's even more upsetting (considering the very low mileage an the issue happening only 3 weeks into ownership) is the fact I've had the car has been to dealership 4 times and every time I'm told there's nothing wrong with the car. I have pictures taken with my cell phone of the check engine and airbag lights on and I'm still not getting any help or consideration. This is very, very frustrating!!.
