The low tire pressure light came on inside the dash as I was pulling into my driveway. So I drove about . 01mile to get air. After I put air in the tire, started the car and immediately got a warning that power steering needed servicing. Then got another warning that advance track needed servicing. All happened at the same time and the power steering was completely gone out. The dealership quoted me $1809 to fix the steering rack. The service dept said the gear inside the power steering rack has gone bad and the control arms it sits on has worn out the gear therefore needing front lower control arms costing $1213. 23.

There are 4 control arms and the power steering rack that are bad in the car now and Ford wants $2875 to make the repair which I cannot afford and now have a useless car.

Starting at 36,000- 120,000 miles the control arms wear prematurely. Given the design of the linkage system this causes the steering to bind in a fashion that causes the driver to have to over steer to get the power steering to overcome the bound linkages and momentary loss of control.

After power steering failed, car was repaired under a recall notice at local Ford dealership. The steering rack was replaced. 3 hours after picking up the car, when leaving work, the power steering failed again while in motion on a city street going under 40 mph decelerating coming to a red light. Received warning "service power steering now" and "service advanctrac. " these are the same warnings received prior to repair. The car went immediately and grossly out of alignment. Above 55 mph, the car shakes severely. Ford dealership says the repair needed falls under the TSB 11-11-3 related to high friction in the control arms; however, the TSB states that this problem only causes the stability/traction instrument cluster to illuminate. The dealership says everything under my car looks to be in good condition and that this has to be the problem, stating that the high friction is causing the power steering pump to lock up which is then failing the power steering all together. This is a safety concern and should be included in the recall on the power steering module. The vehicle has 145,000 miles. It has been driven for 6 years without issue.
2011 Ford Fusion owner: possible weld issues on the lower control arms causing the noise concerns and require repair for the lower control arms from manufacturer. It may be the jounce bumper rubbing against dry strut plate causing an abrasion noise from the strut area - big assumption here. Noise happens in warmer months over 50 degrees and gets quiet on colder days. It also get quieter driving over 60 mph. Whatever it is, the swollen parts are extremely noisy, extremely, and concerning. From research, this issue maybe happening to 2006-2015 Ford Fusion vehicles. A few hundred Fusion owners have complained here about this same issue: https://repairpal. Com/squeaks-and-creaks-over-bumps-and-turning-235. It is costing hundreds of dollars for owners to attempt a fix with no results. I am writing as I would like results after owning my car 2 years with this horrible condition taking place. This is worth a recall. Thank you.
The vehicle has started making very loud creaking noises when going over a bump or when turning the steering wheel, typically heard more when at lower speeds. The dealer indicated it's the lower control arm is safe for now; however, was recalled on the 2013-2014 Fusions. In addition, my door handle/latch also stopped working today while stationary. The door is not latching properly. This recall also affected the 2013-2014 Fusions, but not the 2011.
When driving at low speeds, vehicle creaks consistently. Have been told by Ford the front control arms need to be replaced. Has been an issue since 60,000 miles. Unacceptable to be quoted over $1000 to fix all control arms on a car with that many miles. Common problem in this model. We have replaced the worst control arms as they have gone bad, but still need to repair the remainder. Vehicle now has 125,xxx miles.
I had my 2008 Ford Fusion se checked out due to the rear tires were going bald. I have put 6 tires on the rear til the bodyshop put it on a light and said there was a bend in my knuckle assembly and my lower rear passenger control arm was slightly bent. My steering wheel turns to the left while driving and the wheel are straight. My back to tires needless to say bow out, and I continuously buy tires because the parts and labor are over 1000. 00. Also the passenger airbag cover is loose and im afraid tht the airbag will pop while im driving.

Ball joint/front left lower control arm defect @ 51,000 miles caused vehicle to fail state inspection. Confirmed by independent mechanic and Ford dealer. Potentially dangerous defect in states where there is no annual inspection requirement. Replacement part is on backorder possibly indicating higher than expected failures.

My vehicle started sounding like something was rubbing. So I had it inspected and was told that the lower control arms on my passenger side where both damaged and in need of replacement but that my vehicle was much to new for these parts to have worn out . It will cost me $645 to repair!.
On 6-14-15 had just turned into a road when instrument panel rung and showed service advancetrac and service power steering. Was trying to get to a safe spot to park and it immediately rung and said service power steering now. The power steering went out and was impossible to drive. The car was towed to Ford dealership where they said the steering gear was to be replaced and Ford covered everything due to the recall. On 7-7-14 3 weeks and only 597 miles later the same problem happened, towed vehicle to Ford dealership where they said its showing the same codes as before but now the control arm bushings are needing replaced and it will cost $1,200. 00 to fix and Ford is not covering anything. Cannot afford to have this fixed and shouldn't have to. This really needs to be checked into. I have read several of the complaints and it seems that there is a whole lot needs to be included in this recall than is. Too many people with the same problem. Sure hope no one gets hurt or killed for this to happen.
Friday, November 14, 2014, I was going between 25 and 35 miles per hour when I side swiped a curb on the driver’s side. The control arm on the front drivers’ side broke into. There was a about a six (6) inch abrasion on the front left wheel edge and the tire at first glance appeared undamaged. My thought is that there was a flaw in the manufacture of the control arm. The car is currently at Ford of ventura, 3440 east main street, ventura, CA.
06 Ford Fusion. I have been having a cracking sound in the front right suspension, took it in to Ford to get tires done, they found that my front subframe welds have cracked and it would cost 1500 to fix with a used part, the complaint is , when I came home and researched this issue, I have found tons and tons of complaint with this same issue, it appears to be a failure of Ford to have a correct weld placed in this area, I believe we need to have this investigated and looked at, the subframe weld that has broke is where the front lower control arm hatches to the frame, with this busted and poorly welded we are looking at suspension coming apart and creating an accident and deaths I am asking for a recall to be made.
