1 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2015 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Failure Date: 03/15/2019

This car has been in twice for a cam position sensor. The first time the part totally failed and left us on the road side on a very dangerous stretch of hwy 101 and was replaced. 1708 miles later the check engine light came on again. The code was p0340 again. We were told that the issue could not be duplicated through a dealer road test and we were charged $190. 00 for the diagnostics. The first time this issue occurred, we had brought the vehicle in for a safety recall. When we picked the car up, this was the first instance of the failure of this component. This has caused us grave concern. My wife has ms and can't be left on the roadside. We believe this vehicle has the potential to be unsafe, and Ford will not stand behind their repairs as the computer shows the code that would state the issue has happened again, but because the service department could not cause the code to occur a third time, that everything is working well. Again, we believe this is wrong and wish to make the public aware of a very real safety issue. We have contacted the dealer about the issue. Our service adviser is jessica gallegos from mock Ford (should be noted this is not her fault nor I believe mock Ford) and the Ford rep is cortney burke, 866-631-3788 x77756 . We do not know at this time if the issue has been remedied. Only that through a test drive it could not be duplicated. The computer log shows the incidents. Should we just ignore this and hope for the best?.

2 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Failure Date: 09/08/2018

I lost power while on the freeway to about 40 mph from 65 mph, many indicators flashed: "see manual", "pre-collision assist not available", "service advance track", "downhill assist not available", the check engine light was on as well as the airbag light, I got off the freeway, turned the car off then on again, looked to see if for some reason it was in "l". I ended up getting to my destination, it sat for 2 hours then I started the car again, (because the tow truck was taking too long) and it seemed fine. I drove it short distances the next day, it was still fine (ck engine light still on btw) but after going 20 miles it did it again! low power, lots of different indications of errors. I also noticed the engine seem to stay at a high rpm at a stop light, prior to this it seemed like it wasn't shifting like it should. (it was taking too long to downshift, not sure if it is because I was driving my other powerful and loud car recently). At the dealer they said it was the abs relay and needed to be replaced. I have had the car for almost 3 months, it is a 2017 and it was certified used at the Ford dealership. They are re-calibrating the other relays/switches and the abs is still creating a problem. They are replacing it which is good because I wouldn't feel safe if it wasn't going to be replaced.

3 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Failure Date: 08/06/2017

While driving at 65 mph yellow wrench light appeared and vehicle lost all power. This was on a busy highway. Pulled over and restarted car. Vehicle operated smoothly. Two days later same issue, now with yellow wrench and check engine light. Vehicle will not accelerate above 30 mph. I took my vehicle to local auto parts store and pulled codes myself (115) dollars cheaper then the dealership would have done it. Throttle body control failure. This is the same engine that has extended warranty for alot of VIN numbers but my car has this issue amd isnt covered.

4 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Failure Date: 07/16/2017

I was driving my Ford Fusion Hybrid today on the interstate and had a complete engine failure while driving. I was driving, then a noticed popped on my dashboard stating to stop safely now. I pressed the gas pettle and the ev mode kicked on, propelling my vehicle speed to over 85 miles per hour. I was extremely nervous because the Fords electric vehicle engines are limited to 85 mph in pure ev mode. I was able to come to the shoulder of the interstate. I turned the vehicle off, waited a few seconds and restarted the vehicle. All seemed to be ok, as soon as I pushed the gas pettle to get back on the highway the information dashboard was alarming me to stop safely now. I did not have any check engine lights come on. I then revved the engine to see if I would experience anything, the engine finally came on, then revved and I felt that even though I was in park if my foot would have been off of the break pettle my vehicle would have moved forward. I turned the vehicle off as soon as I felt this the engine was constantly revving until I turned the key to the off switch. I then had the vehicle towed to the dealership. I was driving at 76 mph on the highway and complete failure occurred.

5 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Failure Date: 09/04/2016

Driving on highway w/ cruise control engaged at 65 mph speed. Suddenly car loses complete acceleration & propulsion ability, resulting in car to slow down rather suddenly. I was able to pull onto off ramp in my case, but if I was in a different location, I would have definitely been in a very dangerous situation/serious accident. I turned off vehicle and restarted the vehicle a few minutes later. Proceeded to the highway again, experienced the problem again, this time I was only able to pull over to the left shoulder, which was quite narrow to begin with. "wrench symbol" appeared the second time and stayed on with check engine light on. Car was unsafe to drive further. The check engine trouble shooting codes I had were p2111 and p2112. Cause of this issue is known to Ford motor but they refuse to include hybrid cars in their "consumer satisfaction program 13n03". Throttle body control module senor, including the entire assembly is defective as Ford has agreed to replace this on millions of cars across various model years, including the fusion 2010, but not Fusion Hybrid versions. Ford states they will not repair problem that I experienced recently under this established program which NHTSA was proponent for. The defective part in question is the throttle body assembly and sensor which is no different than the part in the non-hybrid version for the same model year. Real hazard to driver and I was lucky that I was not rear ended as a result or in a serious car accident from this known defective part. Ford motor must be required to notify all affected owners who will/have experienced this problem to have it repaired at their expense, as this is a serious safety issue that must be taken seriously given number of vehicles that are involved that will experience this. I experienced this at mileage of 75k but I have read that others have had this happen at much lower mileage.

6 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2016 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Failure Date: 08/25/2016

The car dies in drive and in park and reverse and won't let you put it in gear, we have it on video and the check engine light appears but when you turn the car off and back on the check engine light goes off and does not keep a code. We have taken this car to the Ford dealership 3 times and they can't find anything wrong because it won't keep the code. The vehicle has less than , 6,000 miles on it and we bought it brand new. We feel very unsafe in this vehicle. We have contacted Ford customer service and it seems like we are getting the run around. Ijts happened on 3 different occasions it started in July then August and September.

7 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2016 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Failure Date: 06/30/2016

The car is less than a month old, mileage is 1700. On two occasions, the car had died. All of the instrument panels light up and the check engine light comes on. After a few minutes the car can be restarted. This is a safety issue especially when it dies in heavy traffic on the freeway. I had just exited the freeway both times when the car just died. I know Ford had problems with the throttle body on the fiesta. They denied there was a problem for a long time. I am taking it in on Wednesday. I am hopeful they will be honest and fix the vehicle.

8 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Failure Date: 05/20/2016

When operating the car on the freeway, the car suddenly lost power and only could achieve 45 mph in spite of the accelerator being floored. When eventually stopped, the engine would surge and shudder periodically. The check engine light came on. Pulling the trouble code revealed p2112 which is a throttle body error.

9 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Failure Date: 09/06/2015

On 2 different days, driving on freeway, my 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid, did not respond to accelerator demand, I. E. Failed to speed up as commanded, the wrench light illuminated but no check engine light. This problem seems intermittent, dealer cannot pin point the problem but replacing the electronic throttle body(etb) fixed the problem. I found many similar complaints online. Nhtsa action no. Pe 13003 which identifies cars models affected includes my car, and the action resulted in a customer satisfaction program that extended the warranty on the etb. However, Ford claims my VIN is not included. I have found others in the same situation and have filed complaints, e. G. Nhtsa id number 10778131, and carcomplaints. Com.

10 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Failure Date: 08/16/2015

I have had multiple incidents with my 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid where I have been driving and the engine will suddenly lose power and the throttle becomes unresponsive. Some of these incidents occurred during freeway driving. When this happened, an orange wrench would appear on my dash display, sometimes accompanied by the check engine light. After doing some research, I found that this is a known electronic throttle body issue. Per NHTSA action number : pe13003, Ford had issued an extended warranty program to cover replacement of this defective part, but they elected to exclude the Fusion Hybrid. Upon contacting Ford customer service and speaking with a supervisor. I was advised that Ford was excluding the hybrid model because its 2. 5l engine is different than the 2. 5l engines in the non-hybrid models. While there may be differences in the engine, this is still the same defective part number that is in all of the other Ford vehicles that received the extended warranty, and according to the service manager at the dealership where I had the car serviced, the car incorrectly returned the same error code (p2112, "throttle body stuck closed") that the covered vehicles returned. The service manager advised that it makes no sense that my vehicle would be excluded and advised that I contact Ford customer service. I was advised by customer service that even though the part is defective when installed on some vehicles, it may not be defective when installed on others. That said, the part displayed the same pattern of failure, the same symptoms and the same error codes as the part covered under the extended warranty. It's the same defective part. It makes no sense that 1. 6 million throttle bodies may be faulty on non-hybrid vehicles, but the same part happens to be okay on all 60,000 Fusion Hybrids. I was forced to make the repair out of pocket.

11 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Failure Date: 07/26/2015

During highway speeds, the car suddenly decelerated to around 20 mph and showed the check engine light which later scanned to be the dtc p2112 throttle actuator control system stuck closed. The NHTSA has action number pe13003 which is the same issue and was closed. Ford has issued a csp 13n03 but it does not include my VIN number but should. I called Ford and they confirmed that my VIN is not included but gave no reason why.

12 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Failure Date: 03/12/2015

Gas engine sputtering and essentially no power when stepped on accelerator. Turned car off/on, still sputtering and the check engine light came on. Able to limp back to garage. Two hours later engine running but check engine light still on. Initially at mechanics running ok, but then sputtered for them as well. System check suggested issue with fuel injectors, though given other reports of throttle body problems will need to further investigate.

13 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Failure Date: 06/11/2014

Driving down the highway at 55 mph, the car suddenly lost power and started decelerating. A wrench light came on in the dashboard. I pulled the car onto the shoulder of the road and turned it off for a few minutes. When I restarted the car it seemed fine so I continued to drive toward my destination. Almost fifteen miles later the car suddenly lost power again and this time I was traveling on a two lane road going about 40 mph. This time the wrench light came on as well as the check engine light. After pulling over and restarting the car this time the check engine light stayed on for the next day or two. We took the car to the Ford dealership a few days later after this occurred four times in two weeks. We learned there was a recall on the electronic throttle body that causes this problem for the Ford fusion but not for the hybrid version. This part is not part of the hybrid system and should be replaced on all hybrids as well as regular fusions. We paid $509 for the repair.

14 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2012 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Failure Date: 01/16/2013

The check engine light had illuminated. Called the dealership and scheduled an appointment to bring it in that day. Driving at 45 miles an hour, again, warning chime sounded, pull over safely warning came on, engine shut off, brakes and accelerator disengaged, and all dashboard lights illuminated. Pulled to the side of the road and shut car off. I was too far from dealership to have it towed and was working (I travel for my job). Called dealership, they said to bring it in. Able to restart it after 2-3 attempts. Brought it to the dealership. No code for no start or shut off but code for fuel canister. Problem addressed, fixed, and car returned to me. Could not activate, car returned with instructions to ¿have it towed here and do not restart it when it breaks down. After, this incident, I traded cars with my brother (who works 5 miles from home) so that he could easily have it towed if it were to occur again.
